Warm and cozy weekend retreat

4.2 on November 25, 2014

Mary is an excellent hostess. She is warm and friendly, keeps a beatuifully appointed B&B, serves up a warm and hearty breakfast, and has great suggestions for making your stay more enjoyable. If you enjoy staying a small period farmhouse, this is your place!

A wonderful weekend stay!

This was a great place to base our weekend in the mystic area! Off the beaten track enough to feel like a retreat, yet easy to get to everything! The in is lovely, the innkeepers are charming, and the rooms are spacious, clean and oozing with charm! A return destination for sure!

great stay at Lower Farm B&B

Spent two nights at this quaint old farmhouse near Mystic, CT. It was peaceful, cozy, and just what my husband and I needed. The hosts were extremely helpful with tips for places to go that were away from the crowds.

Better than we could have imagined

We chose the Inn and Lower Farm because we loved the idea of staying in an old farmhouse. In the pictures it looked cute and funky and we went for it. We weren't expecting a beautiful house set on stunning grounds. Out room was immaculate - wonderfully decorated and spotlessly clean - and the rest of the house was the same. The Keeping Room was like being in a museum, and the hosts made us feel like old friends. The breakfast we had the morning of our departure (we unfortunately only stayed one night) was the best we had on our whole trip. I'm still thinking about those gorgeous sausages and wonderfully light pancakes. Amazing, I can't recommend highly enough.

Well worth a visit! :)

This was our second stay at Lower Farm in the past few years, and once again, we were not disappointed. Mary and Jon make the consummate host, and help make the experience even more charming and excellent. The rooms are bright and beautifully decorated in the period of the building, and the grounds are stunningly peaceful and beautifully appointed! Plus, it is well located among many wonderful towns and tourist attractions. L & B

Pleasant place to stay, friendly owners

Stayed at a slow time (Sun-Tue) and found it to be relaxing and homey.

Another Stellar Weekend

5 on August 27, 2014

This was our 2nd trip to the Inn at Lower Farm and it was once again a fantastic get away for a long weekend. The locations is terrifiic! Close to the casino (if you like that kind of thing) or close the small seaside villages, wineries, golf courses, beaches, etc. We brought our friends with us this time and they were thrilled with everything about the inn and the relaxation it provides. No TV, no stress, no running,....just relax, go for walk, or bike ride along the beautiful shoreline and end the day at a great local restaurant like the Capt Daniel Packer Inn. We will be back. Thanks to John and Mary for providing such a great escape

Comfortable bed, delicious food, gracious hosts

5 on August 16, 2014

Staying at Jon and Mary's Inn was like stepping back in time, but with all the modern amenities needed. The Emily Ayn room was large, with a very comfortable bed and private bath-plenty of hot water and great pressure. Although all rooms were full when we stayed for a long weekend, there was not a sound at night! There is AC, but it was even better to open the windows and enjoy the New England air. Mornings brought the smell of hot coffee, muffins, and Mary's gourmet breakfasts wafting over the gardens as we strolled the acreage, finding tucked away sitting areas and chipmunks skipping along the stonewalls. We saw the hives where the bees were busy making the Inn's own honey and the garden where the herbs and berries were picked for our meal. At the dining table, made from antique wood by Mary's brother, we enjoyed the easy chatter with other guests, mostly comments about the delicious food. No one seemed anxious to leave the table for all the sightseeing visits they had planned. We all lingered even longer on our check-out dates! Jon and Mary are on the spot with helpful hints, fulfilling special requests, and just being gracious. This Inn is everything you could want in the quiet, rural, but convenient SE CT! We visit the area often, but now have found a special place to stay.

Perfect for our mini-vacation treat!

Found a gem of a B&B here! Mary and Jon made us feel right at home immediately, and they couldn't do enough for us, without being intrusive at all! Just the house, alone, is an incredible find! Updated with modern amenities, (each room with own private bath!), but still appreciated the 1700s wideboard floors, bumpy plastered walls, an "Alice in Wonderland" checkerboard landing, that have received so much care, respect and cleanliness in this/their home! Lovely well-manicured grounds with berry bushes and a significant vegetable garden (missed out on Mary's fresh vegetable frittata or her blueberry waffles, as it was too early yet), hummingbird feeders and a quaint outside, shaded sitting area.. Cannot recommend highly enough.. We will most definitely be back.
