The perfect gift for every occasion

  • Springtime is one of the prettiest times of the year with the various blossoming trees and bushes each taking their turn to bloom. First the wheeping cherry, than the magnolia and finally the azalea's and rhododendron.
Come and curl up in a chair next to the crackling fire. Our Living Room serves as a focal point of our home. Relax and visit with your hosts or other guests, listen to music or unwind with a good book. There is also a piano in this room for guests who feel so inclined.
The Limerick Room is named for Michael’s grandmother, Amy Meehan, who was born in Hospital, County Limerick. Overlooking the back gardens, the room has a queen bed with antique brass headboard. The walls are brick-colored, accented with sage and hunter green. A winged-back chair invites guests to use their laptops or curl up with a good book. The ensuite bath has a tub & shower combination.
Named for Michael’s grandfather, Thomas Hennigan, born in Milford, County Cork, the Cork Room has a 1920’s, vintage mahogany queen bed and furnishings. The antique desk is ideal for writing or using a laptop. Rose-colored walls are accented with navy blue and burgundy. Window boxes and views of the front gardens amplify the ambience. The bath is ensuite with a corner shower.
Named for the capitol of the Republic of Ireland, The Dubliner overlooks the back gardens with patio and pergola. Reflecting the afternoon sun, the pale yellow walls are accented with shades of sage and poppy. This room has a brushed-metal queen bed and antique oak dresser. A vintage oak desk & chair and a comfortable winged-back offer guests the option of work or relaxation. Since the private bath is a few steps outside the room, robes are provided.
Great-grandfather John McCann is believed to have come to the United States from County Armagh as an infant during The Great Famine. The Armagh Room is named in his memory. Twin mahogany beds make it the perfect room for a parent and child visiting Yale. The light green walls are accented with off-white and burgundy. A white wicker chair welcomes guests to relax or check those omnipresent emails. Since the private bath is in the hall just a few feet from the room, bathrobes are provided.
Wisteria, trumpet vine and six different colors of clematis grace the pergola supports.
Evening brings the lighting of an old fashioned lantern on each of the pergola supports. Candle holder placed in the garden and on tables light your evening while you relax outdoors.
Just outside the sunroom you can sit and relax on the patio under the vine covered pergola. Watch the array of birds gathering at the feeders in the yard as you enjoy a cool drink from our guest refrigerator.
    Our Wisteria in full bloom.

A cozy home away from home

    February 13, 2013

In all our trips to New Haven, and there have been many, this has been by far our favorite place to stay. Wish we had found it sooner. The McCanns were exceptional hosts and treated us royally. We look forward to staying here again.

    Nice getaway

    January 29, 2013

I was impressed with the cleanliness of this B&B. the breakfast was plentiful. My only comment would be that although I was told cats do not go into the guest areas, I did have an allergic reaction. If you are as allergic to cats as I am, you eill have to pass on this lovely B&B, otherwise it is a great choice.

    A Touch of Ireland During A Nor'easter

    November 12, 2012

My daughter and I stayed with Jeanine and Michael during the first big snow of 2012. We slogged our way to 607 Whitney--cabs and shuttles were backed up in the snow--and were greeted with sympathy and a delicious hot cup of tea. Though we stayed for only one night, we were treated royally, with a car ride the short distance to Yale the next morning, help booking a cab to the train station for our departure, and more. The room was cozy and welcoming. The breakfast was outstanding. If you decide to stay at Touch of Ireland, you will have given yourself a gift.

A wee respite in New Haven

    November 05, 2012

This B & B is quite charming, and its proprietors even more so. It was like going to Grandma's quaint home for a visit. We were so well taken care of! Michael offered us Irish liqueur in the evening, and Jeannine fed us---oh, so well---in the morning. I would highly recommend this wee bit of Ireland in Connecticut.

    Apple Waffles and Irish Sausage

    September 28, 2012

We were only there for one night but had a wonderful time. The breakfast was amazing (apple waffles and Irish sausage), and Jeannine was a wonderful host. She helped us out with maps and tips, and we felt right at home. Take a walk around the neighborhood while your there. It's lovely.

    Lovely Bed and Breakfast

    September 12, 2012

We stayed for one night at this bed and breakfast and really enjoyed our stay. The house is beautifully furnished and very clean, the owners are very friendly and nice, the resident kitty is awesome, and the breakfast was so good! The scones especially were amazingly good! We wish we could stay for longer!
