I thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay. The guest house is beautifully decorated and my room was very accommodating and comfortable, especially the bed pillows! Enjoyed the breakfasts, wifi, and off-street parking. I knew in advance I would have a detached bathroom, but that worked out fine. The owner is a gracious hostess and I met some very interesting other guests.

We had a good experience at Farnham but felt like the prices were over the top. I know they were increased because of Yale reunions, but the extent to which they were probably accounts for why they were relatively empty on such a busy weekend.

My mom and I stayed in the Douglas Orr room for 2 nights. The room was spacious, and the entire building was beautifully decorated. Breakfast was plenty and fine, if not out of this world. I highly recommend it!

The only thing you may wish to check is whether or not your room has a bathroom en suite. Not all do, but they are charming nonetheless. Elizabeth is welcoming and kind, not to mention an excellent chef. Thank you, Elizabeth, for a lovely stay.

I stayed at Farnam Guest House for one evening. The hostess was warm and welcoming, the bed was very comfortable, the house was very neat and clean, and the food was good. I would definitely stay at Farnam again.

Lovely, historic home surrounded by lush trees and blooming garden. The house was filled with guests but always quiet, the owner and other staff were present and helpful but not obtrusive. Our room was large and comfortable and had everything we needed from an ample supply of coat-hangers in the very large walk-in closet to an ironing board and iron, and ample extra blankets and pillows--had we needed them. The house is a nice 15-20 minute walk to Yale which is great for a bit of exercise but not if it is raining or too hot. If you prefer a taste of local color and being able to enter one of New Haven's historic residences rather than experiencing a standard room in a generic hotel, the guest house allows you to sense the charm and understated grace of a New England home.

Take I 95 North or South to I 91. Take Exit #3, Trumbull St. Take Trumbull Street straight until it ends -- about 5 blocks. Turn right on Prospect and go to the 5th light. The House is on the North-left corner of Highland and Prospect. Or take the Merritt Parkway north or south to Exit 61. At the exit take Whitney Avenue South toward New Haven. Go 3-4 miles past lights at Putnam Avenue, Armory Street, East Rock. Turn right on Highland (3 blocks) and go to top of hill. You will be facing our home on your right. Turn right on Prospect and an immediate second left into the circular drive
