The grounds were beautiful and the old farmhouse where we stayed was typical New England charm. Inside the house were gorgeous antiques, large fireplaces, and old wide plank floors. If you like that style of house (and we do), this place hits a home run. Marcie and Jim were incredibly kind, personable and accommodating to our needs. The bed and sheets were incredibly comfortable. The Orchard Room where we stayed was clean and neat. It was also plenty big for the two of us with a nice fireplace and hearth. Often times, in many B and B's, the rooms are so tiny. Not here. PLENTY of room for two. The food was delicious and they were accommodating to dietary restrictions. I have no criticisms at all for this property, but just a few suggestions having been at many bed and breakfasts. If everything could be raised just one more level, this place would be superb. For example, the bathroom was clean, but the shower could have been one notch cleaner and updated a bit. The shower head was adequate, but it could use to be replaced to a more modern head with better flow. The Keurig coffee maker downstairs was a great bonus in the morning, but the coffee selections were only folgers and maxwell house. If you are a serious coffee drinker, folgers and maxwell house are about the worse selections you could imagine. ...really rough. A selection of better coffees (Green Mountain, Starbucks, etc..) would have made it just one notch higher. The grounds, as mentioned were gorgeous, but they could have been manicured to one notch higher. These sound like picky things, and they may be to some travelers, but they are the standard in many other places. All in all, we would ABSOLUTELY stay here again in spite of the little things mentioned above.

Stayed in the Nor'easter room- it was spacious, with a beautiful fireplace and jacuzzi tub. Jim and Marcie could not have been nicer! We talked about everything from Switzerland to gospel music. Oh, and the breakfasts were phenomenal! We'll certainly be back. -Brett and Briana, Brooklyn, NY

I purchased tickets to a concert at Mohegan Sun for my boyfriend for Christmas. The show ended up being canceled but we decided to get a way for the weekend anyway. After looking for a place to stay we decided on Stonecroft Country Inn and we couldn't be happier (well except for some warmer weather lol). We arrived earlier then Marcie and Jim were expecting us but they were as pleasant and welcoming as can be. The room was amazing!!! warm and inviting, the fireplace was perfect and the 2 person soaking tub (bath "grains" included) was divine. The bed was so comfy that it was hard to get out of and the super soft sheets did not help lol. We stayed for 2 nights and i wish it could have been longer! the breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious. it was simple but perfect i couldn't have asked for better. Stonecroft Country Inn is a hop skip and a jump away from some great things to do such as the casinos and mystic aquarium and village. i would recommend this inn to any friend or family member looking for some place to hide away. I know we will be staying here in the future!

At the risk of echoing what many other reviews have stated, Jim and Marcie really are outstanding innkeepers. Jim was very accommodating to my special requests, friendly and helpful but without intruding on our privacy. We stayed one night in a quaint room of the old farmhouse which dates from the early 1800's and has the distinctive ambiance of a former way of life. The second night we stayed in what had been the original barn and has recently been masterfully renovated into a striking interior space and all the rooms updated with all of the latest amenities. We planned side trips into Mystic (5 miles away) and New Haven (an hour's drive). A little out of the way but barely a 10 minute drive to Mystic, the country setting has the advantage of quiet and calm. Highly recommended. Would give the highest ratings in all categories except dining (the breakfast choices were limited) but this web page would not allow me to enter outstanding ratings.

Stonecroft Country Inn was an amazing place to have our wedding. The owners were outstanding and worked with us beyond what we could have ever asked for. Everything we wanted was made possible and they granted us lots of freedom, where other venues in the area would not. This was the only venue in the area that didn’t have crazy restrictions, additional fees and unreasonable staff that didn’t work with the bride and grooms wishes. From the very first meeting, they were very professional and were only really concerned with what we wanted rather than telling us what we couldn’t do. Their attitude and customer service stayed consistent till the wedding weekend was over. I do recommend renting out the entire inn, it makes it way easier and it is such a better experience for all that are involved. Breakfast was available for all of our guests each morning which was convenient and another reason we liked staying at the Inn. It is a great place to stay the night before and get ready the day of, staying at the Inn after the wedding also made the entire weekend a lot less stressful. There are plenty of photo opportunities around the property; there was no reason to take pictures anywhere else but here. I cannot say anything negative about our wedding weekend with Stonecroft, it was truly everything we ever could have asked for. We wouldn’t have changed one thing about it and this place understands what logistically/professionally needs to happen to have one successful wedding.
