Showing our vacation pictures to friends, reminded us of our great stay at Sundance Bear in the adorable log cabin. Our friends had more questions about our visit there than any other place we went. We explained to them the weather was bad but we didn't care. We felt like we were on top of the world, with beautiful views in all directions in a cozy warm cabin. Bob and Sue were delightful host and even JD their cat took a liking to us! If it wasn't so far from Georgia, we would go often and our friends would come too.

When you ride a motorcycle (or trike in our case) you never know how the property owners of a B&B are going to react. Bob and Sue were gracious, accommodating and above all a genuine pleasure to be around. Along with all that they offer what is hands down the most impressive views of BOTH Mesa Verde and the La Plata mountains. Thanks to both of you for a memorable stay.

Bob and Sue made us feel at home and gave us the perfect balance of privacy and pleasant company... they have a great lodge on beautiful picturesque land, in proximity to all our vacation destinations (Mesa Verde, Durango, Telluride). This inn is a destination in and of itself. Loved our breakfast chats and sharing time with the pets, especially Morris (he shared his room nicely).

This was our second stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast located just outside of Mancos, CO. It was wonderful to arrive at the lodge mid-afternoon and have time to relax and chat with Bob and Sue before going into town for our dinner. The hospitality was wonderful, our room was comfortable, and breakfast was a delight, The grounds are gorgeous and the conversations Bob and Sue engaging and every so informative. Thanks again for sharing your dream with us, We look forward to returning when we are traveling through southwest Colorado.

We had a fantastic time. We rented the cabin so we didn't get breakfast but made our own in our kitchen (the reason for the Met my expectations for the Dining score). You can't ask for a more scenic area to stay in, surrounded by trees that were changing colors that were intermingled with pine trees. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck in the morning and also sat out there and talked until all hours after we got home from hiking Mesa Verde. The close proximity to Mesa Verde is a plus. The cabin was clean and well supplied with anything you could think of. All we added was some food. We can't wait to visit again.

Bob and Sue were very friendly, everything was above our expectations. The breakfast was super, even as the company. If you are at Mesa Verde, stay with Bob and Sue.

Sundance Bear Lodge was the nicest inn we have ever stayed in. The hospitality shown to us by Bob and Susan combined with the gorgeous setting and lovely breakfasts made it very hard to leave. We'd return in a heartbeat and miss it already!

My granddaughter (12) and I stayed at Sundance Bear for two delightful nights. Bob and Sue treated us like dear friends and the breakfasts were awesome! We stayed in the Lodge which is so beautiful and peaceful. Even the cats welcomed us home at Sundance Bear! A bonus for us was meeting neighbors at a potluck gathering in the garden - such fun! We would love to come again. Sydney and Haley

We are an Australian couple who stayed in the log cabin in October 2011 arriving by night. We woke in the morning to the most amazing views! We enjoyed everything about our stay here and wish we could have stayed for a week. We could fault nothing, the hospitality was great the ambience and setting of the place was beautiful. It is handy to Mesa Verde, Telluride, Durango and Cortez. Sad to leave.

We stayed two nights in the Mesa Verde room in the main lodge. It is beautiful--inside and outside, such a peaceful and scenic setting. Wish we would have had time to just enjoy being there. Were visiting friends very close by and were away most of the time. Didn't get to fully enjoy the amenities such as the hot tub and sauna or to walk around the lovely grounds. Breakfasts were delicious and Sue and Bob were delightful. Would definitely recommend it. Very close to Mesa Verde.

Beauty everywhere, inside and outside and all around. Comfort, elegance and peace. Delicious and abundant breakfasts. Warm welcomes every morning from Susan and Bob, and from 2 dogs and 1 of the 3 cats. Didn't have time to meet the horses. There was so much to do in the area. Enjoyed the proximity of the amazing Mesa Verde. We will never forget.

The Sundance Bear Lodge was our 1st night stay on our motorcycle trip down to Mesa Verde. What a wonderful place. After long travel day, we arrived a bit after 5pm. Food Store/liquor store very close, we stocked up, enjoyed an evening on the porch relaxing. Sat in the wonderful outside sitting area and had dinner while watching full moon rise and a great sunset. We ended our day in the hot tub. Breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed some time with the hosts, Sue and Bob during breakfast. I would highly recommend this fabulous place on your visit to SW Colorado.

We stayed at the big guesthouse just for one night. The house is awesome, I wish we could stay longer. The owners are really nice people and the location is great. The guesthouse was big enough for the 3 families (8 people), there's a full kitchen with all you'd need. Nice views from the deck. Great feeling of privacy. That was a perfect stay. I definitely will return there.

This nice b&b is close to Mesa Verde and sits on a beautiful location with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. Be sure to step outside at night and look at the stars! We stayed in the smaller lodge room which was very clean and comfortable. Bob and Susan were great hosts and we really enjoyed chatting with them. Susan pointed us to a unexpected artsy (and tasty) restaurant in Mancos for dinner, and she prepared and excellent breakfast the following morning. The lodge, our host's hospitality, and the relaxed setting made me wish we had more time than the one night we spent here.

The hosts were brilliant in every way and could not have been kinder or more genial. The food (breakfasts) were something to look forward too and the location was breathtaking.

We stayed in the guesthouse (rented the entire house) for our large 2 family vacation. My sister and I brought our families and we were completely comfortable in the spacious guesthouse. Our combined five children absolutely fell in love with the owners two dogs, Chester and Oreo, they were super friendly and kept all five kids entertained with fetch (I think the dogs wore the kids out more). Bob and Sue were extremely welcoming and were nothing but wonderful to us our entire stay. They gave us great ideas of family friendly places to see and things to do and treated our family like their own. On our last evening there, our vehicle broke down and needed an extra 5 days for repair....Bob and Sue made sure that we were not going to be homeless (someone had rented the guesthouse after our stay) by calling neighbors and friends in town to find lodgings (for 8) and help us find a transmission mechanic to trust. They went out of their way to help us in our "extended" vacation and we will always be extremely grateful for their hospitality and kindness! We cannot wait to come back (in a different vehicle!) and visit with Bob and Sue and the Sundance Bear Lodge again! - The Tregre and Welch Families of Southern Louisiana

I discovered Sundance Bear and Lodge on-line while looking for places to stay during our March 2011 trip to Mesa Verde, Durango, etc. My husband and I loved our time there- two nights in the Mesa Verde room- very well appointed and comfortable, relaxing great room, lovely scenery, fabulous breakfast- and Bob and Sue are delightful. We'll certainly return.

The two of us stayed in the log cabin. We took advantage of the cooking facilities in the cabin and therefore can't comment on the breakfasts in the main house. The cabin was cozy and comfortable with a good bed. The space is small and there wasn't much room for laying out our 2 suitcases although if we cared all that much we could have parked them upstairs. The tv comes with a rabbit ears antenna which Bob explained at the outset might not bring in all channels. Although we would have been happy with no tv at all, when there is one I guess I feel it should be reliable. I also couldn't get the gas grill to work but I'm sure Bob could have if I had asked for help. The cabin has beautiful views towards the southwest. Ours was somewhat spoiled by a car (guest's?) that was parked in the driveway across the small pond almost directly in line with the setting sun. Overall we really liked our accommodations and the innkeepers, Bob and Sue, and would highly recommend it to Mesa Verde visitors.

We arrived after two days at Mesa Verde. Sundance Bear Lodge was a lovely, quiet refuge in a beautiful location. Our room was relaxing and the bed very comfortable. We had coffee on the deck and then a lovely breakfast with good conversation with other guests. We hiked on the 89 acres, soaked in the hot tub and played with the dogs. Bob and Sue were wonderful, interesting hosts--always available for a chat about the history of the area. We left rested and renewed. We definitely will return.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Sundance Bear and enjoyed every minute. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The living area was very spacious with good views and comfortable furnishings. Breakfast each day was very enjoyable with egg dishes, french toast, fruit and plenty of coffee and juice. Our hosts were very helpful with planning our day, giving us many suggestions for things to do in the area. We really enjoyed Sue and Bob as well as Morris, the cat, who almost went home with us in our suitcase.

Three men, that were grade school and high school classmates more than 55 years ago, and their wives had a three day get-together in the Sundance Bear Lodge Guest House. We had never stayed in a B&B, so we weren't exactly sure what to expect. It far exceeded anything I had imagined. The innkeepers have decorated this lodge in a manner that makes you feel right at home. There are books and brochures in the living room to help plan your day, internet access, and Sue is an excellent cook! Vacations can be fast paced but after sitting in the hot tub and then the sauna, I felt great! I will definitely return! Thank you Sue and Bob!

We had a nice stay at Sundance Bear Lodge. We stayed in the main building and our room was lovely (perhaps too small for some but fine for us). We were very impressed by how fully equiped the bathroom was. We really enjoyed relaxing in the lounge room by the fire with views of mesa verde, a cup of tea, 2 friendly cats and good books. Dinner in Mancos at the bakery was lovely too. Thanks for a great stay!

Lovely couple, marvelous house, great location, sweet dogs. Received a very warm welcome after a long journey, hosts gave enough detail and attention without being over bearing inc. on local restaurants. Hot tub (once used to heat! ho ho) with a snowy backdrop really great. Room cosy, bathroom well stocked. Overall, would highly recommend to anyone. Great place, only sorry i didn't book a second night rather than the questionable quality Far View Lodge and restaurant at Mesa Verde.

My husband and I spent 4 wonderful days at the Sundance Bear Lodge in Mancos, Colorado. The lodge was bright and beautiful with so many artistic and playful touches. It is comfortable and so inviting; great views from every window, a big fireplace, comfy seating and a very informal atmosphere. It was better than many of the fancy resorts I have stayed at in Jackson Hole. I especially enjoyed the big fireplace and the grand dining table. Where we made new friends, had delicious breakfasts and interesting and fun conversations with our hosts and other guests. We stayed in the Mesa Verde room which was very romantic with a gas fireplace, big bed and cozy SouthWestern décor. It was also quiet and so relaxing after a day of sightseeing and hiking. Bob and Sue Scott were friendly and informative. They were so attentive to our needs they seemed to remember what we needed even before we did. They were so very helpful with directions and suggestions for sights and activities we were never bored or without something to do. There was a binder in our room with information as well. They really knew their community and what it had to offer. I would highly recommend a stay at Sundance Bear Lodge to my family and friends. I hope to return there soon to see our new ‘old friends’, the Scotts and their family of pets.

My family and I just had the pleasure of staying for two days and nights in the log cabin at Sundance Bear in Mancos, CO. There a stunning and beautiful views out every window the cabin, and all the amenities to make anyone's stay self-sufficient and totally relaxing! The hosts, Bob and Sue, are just a few yards away in the main house and are available with information and are very generous with their time. If you want dining, then you can go to Cortez or Durango, or just stay put in Mancos with your own food and cook up a feast! There is a great natural foods store in Mancos called Zuma, which you can't miss. Then, there is the close proximity to Mesa Verde and all of the Four Corners region. Can't be beat!

We arrived late in the evening for a two night stay, but the lights were on and Bob and Sue were there to welcome us, and J.D. and Morris, the house cats, were lined up to hop on our laps for a cozy nap. We stayed in the comfortable lodge rooms, and truly felt as if we were visiting long-time friends. The breakfasts were outstanding (freshly baked banana bread, buffalo sausage, corn bread casserole, juice, fruit and excellent coffee were just a few of the items on the table!), and the lodge great room was a wonderful place to relax, read, or chat. The fall colors reflected in the pond, the star-filled skies at night, and the views of the mesas and mountains combined to create a memorable get-a-way.

It couldn't have felt more like home. I even wanted to help out in the kitchen, it felt so comfortable. I really don't know how they could improve on the hospitality from the pet friendly and welcoming environment to the home and hosts themselves. Thank you for a great couple of days. Sincerely, Miriam & Eric

Travelling with our horses has been the experience of a life time, Bob and Sue made their facilities available to us and then asked what they could have done to make our horse stay more convenient. We could think of only one improvement and that was because we were driving big rigs, our hosts vowed to make the changes. We rode our horses in the Mancos area for five days and could have ridden for a month. Therefore, we will be back next year, hopefully for a longer stay. Thanks again for making our trip easier. I stayed at the Sundance Bear Lodge to attend the nearby Durango Film Festival and was blown away by the charm and beauty of Bob and Sue's B&B. They welcomed me with so much warmth and it doesn't get any better than waking up to the smell of Sue's homemade french toast and listening to Bob's great stories. This is a cozy haven nestled in between mountains and open trails. It is a great place to recharge and take in the natural beauty of Colorado.

Nothing was too much trouble for them, even cooking individual breakfasts to suit a special diet. The cosy chats we had with them at breakfast made our stay extra special and they were so informative. The whole property is very impressive, and the views from the deck made me stop long enough to catch my breath in this hectic world. We'd planned a busy sightseeing week with lots of scurry. Mesa Verde was a primary destination, but where to stay nearby? One seach, one email later and we were set. We stayed in Unit 2 of the Guesthouse. It was lovely and well thought out for our varied needs (we have early risers and late sleepers in the same travel group). You've done a wonderful job at making it possible for travelers like us to enjoy God's beautiful world.

My business partner and I were completely exhausted. Our business obligations were challenging us to maintain an 18 hour a day working schedule. Deadlines were pressing. People were waiting. Business plans were pending our response. Speeches needed writing. Courses needed planning. We needed to change our pace, but how? We decided "have computers and cell phones will travel", and headed off to an area that we considered remote, even from our small town. An ad in the Mancos newspaper caught our eye, and a call to the Sundance Bear Lodge sent us heading in their direction. We could not have imagined such an oasis from our then state of near exhaustion. We were met at our car by two innkeepers Sue and Bob, who offered us a most warm welcome, a relaxing tour of the grounds, and led the way to the most comfortable bed we ever experienced. The great room was ours to use this evening as we set up a space that included computer and phone requirements, as well as a place to lay out and prepare our next activity. A walk on the grounds, a dip in the spa, and a snack then led to the best night's sleep possible. The morning found us rested and completely prepared for our days work, though quite unprepared for the surprise of the outstanding gourmet breakfast that was served. We ate like it was Thanksgiving dinner, and lingered quite a time to share stories with the innkeepers. Sue and Bob felt like good new friends. We plan to make this a "destination" stay in the future, just exploring all the wilderness, nature, and peace the area has to offer. (Or maybe we just won't leave the inn!)

This lodge has it all- beautiful views, good food, snacks, friendly & helpful hosts, a hot tub, places to hike, friendly cats & a very comfortable great room. The great room lives up to its name. It is a large, attractive, comfortable room with a fireplace, views of beautiful Colorado, games, TV, and reading materials about the region. While our room was small, it had a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was stocked with anything you might have forgotten. We spent most of our time in the great room.

Four of us arrived at Sundance Bear Lodge and were greeted with gorgeous views of the Rockies and Mesa Verde. Much to our delight we found Sue and Bob to be gracious, informative and helpful inn keepers. We stayed two nights in the lodge-great rooms- and enjoyed two wonderful breakfasts-Sue shared recipes. Sue and Bob thought of every detail in arranging the lovely rooms and baths. We loved the great room with big fireplace, books and beverages--not to mention the view of the surrounding mountains and mesas. Proximity to Mesa Verde was convenient and a time saver. We highly reccomend a stay at Sundance Bear Lodge. Best B and B experience we've ever had! we're returning next year with a large group!

This was a great stay. I would recommend Sundance Bear without hesitation. The hosts did everything they can to make you feel welcome and comfortable. They seemed to consider all the little things that make the stay very special -- like bug repellent, a step stool in the bathroom, and extra large towels specifically for the hot tub. There were even some very funny jokes in the room's guest information guide. I had a good chuckle over those, and these thoughtful suprises made the stay feel very luxurious. It is clear that the hosts really care about making your stay personal and memorable, and this is the essence of a great BNB experience. There was a problem with our booking -- I should clarify that I think the problem was me, and that I did not fully complete the online booking process -- so we were essentially turning up unexpected, which can be a problem with small accommodation operators. The room we wanted was not available, but in spite of this little hitch, everything turned out fine. We stayed in the Mesa Verde room. The bed was large and comfy with soft sheets and lots of pillows. The breakfast was great -- belgian waffles, strawberries, sausage, yogurt, coffee, juice -- very filling and tasty. The lodge is as close to Mesa Verde as you can get, and the little town of Mancos is charming and has all the services you need including a small grocery, gas station, liquor store and restaurants. I wish we would have stayed more than one night as this would make an excellent base for exploring the area.
