Awesome views, amazing history. This is a living museum surrounded by mountains, hummingbirds, and chipmunks. Read about the "Seven keys to Baldpate" before you come. The Lodge is large, old and very rustic. The room we had was larger than we expected and the linens were very clean with a subtle "key" logo. We enjoyed the museum and relaxing in the library and on the decks, and of course the meals served on linen and china by an attentive staff. Good wine list. This is a unique property. Lois is a gracious host, and our experience was relaxing and upscale. We will do this again!

Great historic inn. The fact it is named for a classic mystery and has a key collection just makes it more special. Breakfast was great and huge and the dinner salad buffet is fine.

    Charming and Quirky

If you have a problem sharing bathrooms, don't go. Otherwise, the place was charming and quirky. It was built in 1917, before every room had its own bathroom. It has a long and interesting history, and a key museum, of all things! The scenery is spectacular; it's across from the National Park. Guests, especially regulars, tend to be like-minded people who appreciate "quirky." The food is excellent and popular with the locals. Do sit on the huge front porch, watch the fearless hummingbirds, enjoy the scenery and talk to other guests.

We enjoyed out 1 day stay here. We stayed in a room inside the inn. The sitting room was nice with a big fireplace. Breakfast was excellent and the soup and salad dinner was excellent and highly recommended. The 'key' room is fun. Go out to the front porch early in the morning and listen to all the hummingbirds. It was a little tricky to find. Further from Estes than I thot. All in all, nothing fancy, but a historic inn we will always remember. Staff are students from all over US. All were very nice.
