Gable House Bed and Breakfast

Hostess was delightful, breakfast beautifully served & delicious. House furniture was elegant and decorated with taste and attention to detail. A great house to stay in.

Traveling alone, I prefer to stay at B&Bs because of the safety and welcoming atmosphere they afford. The Gable House was no exception. Even upon my initial phone call to make reservations, Heather was most warm and helpful, offering advice and recommendations for my stay. I felt like I was visiting a friend. The house was located within walking distance of historic Durango and the accommodations were clean and just beautiful. Withe delicious breakfast and wonderful company, I could not ask for a better experience.

Spent a remarkable weekend (7/8/11-7/11/11) at this charming B&B. It was remarkable for a number of reasons, not the least of which was that it was QUIET!!!!! I have come to value this above many other amenities. The setting and house itself are exceptional and, truly a 5 minute walk to downtown Durango with all the restaurants you can imagine, in all categories. Heather is very adept at making you feel welcome, cared for and not bothered. She knows and understands this quite well. We were treated to two nights of drenching rain, a joy considering we came from Santa Fe and Austin, where it's been "What rain?" for ages. Sitting on the second floor balcony, safe and dry while the lightening storm provided us with the best show in town was a total treat. The rooms are not that typical, overwrought Victorian that I've come to dread (sorry). This amazing house, all 7,000 sq/ft. of it, has been in Heather's family for 50 (?) years and it certainly shows. You will NOT be disappointed. Heather saved our Durango stay by having a beautiful room available for the two of us. This is truly a wonderful victorian B&B located in a nice residential area but still only a few blocks from Main Street. Heather is a gracious inn keeper that provides five star service and breakfasts. We look forward to visiting Durango again and certainly will make reservations at the Gable House well in advance. The Gable House is one of the finest inns we have stayed at and we have been at MANY! Thank you Heather!

The Gable house has probably set the bar too high for us to be completely happy somewhere else. The charm of the house and the quiet location just minutes from downtown Durango is only exceeded by the gracious owner, Heather. The food and vibe are awesome!

The Gable House is a beautiful old Victorian which has been lovingly restored. The house is open, gracious and immaculate. Our room had a pretty little balcony, perfect for reading, sipping wine, and watching the ever charming sky. A delightful find! We'll be back!

Her cooking was delicious. Enjoyed our 5 night stay, The owners were very friendly and made you feel like family. Just wish we would have had an air conditioner in our room. But I would still stay there again.

The Gable House is over 100 years old. the owner has kept everything in perfect condition. We loved everything!

Heather was the most gracious host I ever could have wished for. This was my husband's first B&B experience (He's more the motel 8 kinda guy) and Heather made him feel welcome and relaxed in one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen. My school aged child and I came to visit the area for the first time and stayed with Heather at Gable House. Beautiful home, extremely comfortable beds, food was great. We walked into town each day for our evening meal and found the location to be every bit as convenient as hoped. Best review came after we were home again. A comment from the 7 year old, who said that Gable House had started to "feel like home".

This was my 2nd stay at the Gable House and it definitely won't be my last! Staying at this B&B makes me wonder why I would stay anywhere else in Durango. After my 1st stay I knew I wanted to come back and Heather made me feel like I was coming home--it is a fabulous experience, like a step back in time with the wonderful creaky floors and doors and each room has its own uniqueness. We highly recommend the Gable House in Durango, CO. Owner, Heather, met us and made us feel so welcomed to her home. The accommodations were beautiful and so true to the Victorian era. Our room & bathroom were fabulous and so comfortable. We loved our private balcony, too. We loved it an will return.

My grandparents and I came to Durango to ride the narrow-gauge trains in the area and we were going to stay in Durango for 5 days, & we wanted to find someplace with comfortable rooms, great breakfasts, wonderful service and all-around nice people, so we stayed at the Gable House.

Our stay at the Gable House was our first venture into B&B's and we came away with a whole new outlook. Heather's friendliness and assistance was invaluable and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. She became a treasured friend we hope we'll see again.
