Designed by Rieche, Carter & Smith and built by Jeffery and Mary Keating in 1891, the former Keating House is one of the last vintage homes built before the silver crash of 1893. Keating , a real estate investor and founder of McPhee & McGinnity Lumber Company, accumulated his wealth with the early expansion of Denver. In a neighborhood predominated by people of wealth and power such as Molly Brown, Boettcher, Cheesman, Keating, and Moffat, there were many finely crafted mansions. Today, the former Keating House remains a landmark of Colorado’s Victorian era with its period architecture and outstanding craftsmanship.

I really liked this B&B and it was wonderful to be able to stretch out in my large room (the Forget-Me-Not) and gather my thoughts and emotions after a 5-state and 9-night road trip. This old and historical B&B is in the heart of the Capitol District but isn't noisy. I had a beautiful four-poster bed that was very comfortable and cozy. My breakfast was hearty and filling and Carl and Bailey were so friendly. Off-road parking with free Wi-Fi enabled me to relax and catch up on my travels before getting a good night's sleep. I liked using the old-fashioned writing desk and also loved the turret in my room, complete with long windows! Loved the décor and lovely appointments throughout the house. Adrienne
5 out of 5Pleasantly perfect Denver mansion B&B stay.

Simply one of the best bed & breakfasts in which we’ve vacationed. Immaculate in its cleanliness, this beautifully restored Victorian mansion is a comfortable mix of Victorian style with modern amenities such as internet wi-fi, gas fireplaces and electronic security. Our top floor room contained a deep soft comfy queen size bed with plenty of pillows, windows with a pleasant neighborhood view, an excellent selection of coffee and teas with a hot pot and quality soap and hair sundries. The room in which we stayed, named The Pasque Flower Room, most importantly sported an irresistible and often used 6’ Jacuzzi tub housed in the mansions turret. The morning of each day of our stay Carl, the mansion owner, cooked up a different sumptuous gourmet breakfast for my girlfriend and me and would, later in the day, sometimes surprise us with the occasional unexpected confectionary treat. The Capitol Hill Mansion is not only easy walking distance from most every point of interest in downtown Denver, it also offers ample car park spaces. A premium commodity in Denver. The owner and his family helped make our five night Denver vacation pleasantly memorable.

We stayed at the Capitol Hill Mansion B&B two nights while in Denver visiting family. Our son and daughter had given us a gift certificate for one night as a Christmas present. We stayed in the Bluebell suite which was roomy, clean and comfortable. We really appreciated the outside entrance. Breakfast was delicious and filling. The owners, Carl and Bailey were extremely nice and very responsive to our requests.

Lovely and comfortable Bluebell Suite-enjoyed the generous space and the decor is very restful. The living room has a great fireplace-perfect to sit and watch the snow fall outside. Breakfast was wonderful, and great cookies! We would happily stay here again.

5 out of 5Wonderful experience at Capital Hill Bed & Breakfast
February 28, 2013
My husband and I had an absolutely memorable stay at the Capital Hill Bed and Breakfast in Denver Colorado. It was our first stay at a Bed and Breakfast and being our son lives in Denver, we will be back when we visit again. The room was beautiful and very clean, the home is historical and everything in it; furniture, bedding, pictures and decorations were to match. The food was delicious and the table was set beautifully! The people who own and operate it were so pleasant and not intrusive at all. They are there if you need them or you can be as private as you please. My favorite memory is sitting by the fireplace with a cup of coffee as I watched the snow falling out the picture window!

Just a single night there and will have to say it couldn't have been better. I'm a guy and I don't really get the same appreciation as my girlfriend does over that, kind of stuff but I was even giddy about how nice and relaxing it was. 10 out of 10
4.8 out of 5A charming B&B with wonderful hosts
February 11, 2013
My husband and I stayed here for a total of 3 nights during February 2013. We selected the Snowlover Room which had an amazing mural of an alpine forest on 2 walls. There was a lovely balcony that we enjoyed sitting on. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast each morning was very enjoyable. A great selection of fruits to enjoy as the innkeeper Carl made breakfast. We enjoyed each breakfast immensely. I am very glad that the recipe for the creme brulee french toast is on the website. This is a family run establishment and everyone was so very kind and willing to help with suggestions on restaurants, breweries, activities and neighborhoods to visit. And the advice is spot on. This is a historic mansion and the bathroom set up for this room was a bit unique. Shower was in a converted closet so you could look out into the room from the shower, and into the shower stall from the room. So, best for couples :-) The radiator also pumps out a lot of heat, so be aware you may have to turn it back a bit. The Snowlover room is on the third floor - so if you are from sea level and not accustomed to the altitude, be prepared to be breathing heavily and hoping for an oxygen tank by the time you reach the top (especially if you are carrying your luggage). We definitely plan to stay here when we visit Denver again. Thank you Carl & Bailey!
