Chateau L'Acadienne
Chateau L'Acadienne (Big House of the Cajun) was built in the late 1870's during the height of the gold mining era. The house was originally built by John R. Morgan with "Hooper" brick and stone. Recent renovations have restored the home to meet the needs of the weary traveler. James and Shirley Voorhies are the resident owners of the chateau. Throughout the chateau, ten foot high ceilings are adorned with decorative moldings and fine antique chandeliers. Each guest room is uniquely decorated in either Victorian English or Louisiana French Decor. Guests are treated to a beautiful view of the hills and mining district surrounding Central City. To enjoy the accomodations, guests are invited to relax in the elegance of their boudoir or enjoy the panoramic views from the sitting areas outside the chateau. Guests will also enjoy "Lagniappe" (lan-yap), the Cajun French tradition of the host providing "a little extra" to the customer.

From Denver, drive west on I-70 to exit 243 (Central City Parkway). Drive 8 miles to Central City. When you arrive in CC slow down for the 2 speed bumps and take a hard right turn up Spring Street. Go about 100 yards up the hill till you see the Y in the road. Bear to the left on the Y. We are located in the middle of the Y. Park in front of blue garage.
Using Hwy 6 & Hwy 119 from Golden: Drive to Black Hawk and turn left at the 3rd traffic light heading for CC. Drive 1 mile to Central City. Turn left at Emergency traffic signal in front of Fire Dept. This is Spring Street. You will see casino blgs on the right and an intersection at a big parking lot. Turn left and go 100 yards till you see the Y in the road. Bear to the left on the Y. We are located in the middle of the Y.
