Milton Parker Home B&B/Events

Bryan/College Station, TX

The parker home was built by Milton and Mollie Parker in 1885. Originally from Millican, Texas, the Parkers owned land in the Brazos Bottom. Mrs. Parker drew up the plans for the home, and it was constructed by German carpenters from Dallas for a cost of $6,000. The exterior of the home is covered in wood clapboard siding and is relatively unadorned for a home of this period. A two tiered veranda shelters the front of the house. A unique aspect of this home on the interior is a closed area in each bedroom, an unusual feature in 19th century homes. The house is over 5,000 square feet with seven fireplaces, large formal dining room, study/office, a front parlor receiving room and an adjoining second parlor used for the ladies to gather after meals. This is now the room to relax and watch TV while visiting with family and friends. The home located at 200 South Congress Street and West 27th Street is an Eastlake Victorian villa with spacious grounds enclosed the original cast iron fence. The home contains a drawing room, parlor, study, dining room, kitchen and five bedrooms. You will find many of the original pieces of furniture throughout the home. The home also has seven fireplaces each with its own unique design. The Parkers raised 10 children in this home and it remained in the family until 1991.

"Instant Answer to Prayer!"

"My hubby and I were searching for someplace to go stay just overnight for our anniversary. We both thought how nice it would be to try something different and began searching under Bed & Breakfasts in San Antonio, Austin & up north. Everything seemed book and my hubby suggested looking in College Station area. As the page was loading for another B&B I turned to my hubby and said we been discussing it but not really prayed so we stopped right there and prayed. As we finished I turned back to the computer and there it was Abigaile's Treehouse. As soon as I read reviews I knew this was exactly where God wanted us to go. Abigaile is also the name we chose for a girl when we have a daughter. :) The owner Lisa Ketchum has such a loving, welcoming, and giving spirit. I felt as if we have known her for years. We stayed in the Eagle's Nest and it was breathtaking. It was so peaceful. My hubby and I just desired to get some rest and get together before God and seek His guidance for our family for 2013. We were able to do just that and we are excited to see what happens in the new year. The breakfast was wonderful! Hot tub amazing! The bed extremely comfy! I really look forward to going back again. We only stayed one night. I highly recommend that if you can stay at least two nights to get the most out of the environment. We also got to tour the rest of the house as well before our departure. All the rooms on each floor are amazing. My most favorite part of our stay was reading through the Guest Book in the room of others who have come before us experiences staying there over the past couple years. Beautiful! You will without a doubt be blessed as we and countless others have been after staying there. Thank You Lord for leading us here & Thank You Lisa for answering the call of God and stepping out in faith & obedience to open Abigaile's Treehouse! God bless you more & more! & all who stay there!
