Located in a quiet valley away from traffic and trains, yet minutes from world-class skiing at Winter Park and other mountain adventures, the High Mountain Lodge is your base for fun any time of year. Enjoy the sunset from our deck after a day of hiking, cycling, fishing, or a round of golf. Unwind in our indoor pool or hot tub after skiing, snowshoeing, or snowboarding. Most rooms have fireplaces. We're casual and welcoming to singles, couples and families, alike. Dogs with well-mannered owners enjoy the friendly atmosphere, too.
Located above the pool atrium, these rooms have larger bathrooms and drive-up accessibility. Rooms 11 & 14 have sunny views, and 12 & 13 have a window in the outside door only. Room 13 has twin beds and an armoire. Each room has a fireplace and hooks on the wall for clothes. All rooms have a microwave and refridgerator.
These rooms have sunny views of the Spring Branch valley and Sheep Mtn., and are large enough for a roll-away. Rms 1 & 5 have a fireplace, and Rm 7 has a closet nook. All rooms have private baths, entrances and a microwave and small fridge. Rm 1 can connect with Rm 2; Rm 5 with Rm 6; and Rm 7 with Rm 8 to make a large space for couples or families traveling together.
Room 2 is a large private room with a south-facing window looking out on a hillside. It also has a sofa-bed in front of the big fireplace that will accommodate two people. Room 1 interconnects with it if you like, making a great space for extended families to stay. It has a private bath, microwave, fridge, and a hanging rack for clothes.
The Atrium Suite has a living room with a fireplace and sofa-bed and a day bed, as well as a private bedroom with a king bed. The two rooms also have a connecting balcony overlooking the pool in the atrium. Although there are no outside windows, the Atrium Suite is a favorite of families. Both suites are at the top of the Lodge up a private stairwell, and are across the hall from one-another, making a nice space for two families who reserve both suites.
The Valley View Suite is the nicest space in the Lodge, and also has the best view of our lovely valley and Sheep Mountain from the private balcony. A mirror of the Atrium Suite, it has a living room with a fireplace, sofa-bed and a day bed, and a bedroom with a king bed with upgraded linens for an unexpectedly luxurious suite at the High Mountain Lodge. The balcony connects the living and bedrooms at the top of the Lodge.
Room six is a simple room with four single beds, a small 3/4 bath with a shower, hooks for clothing, dressers, a microwave and a small fridge. Located just steps from the pool off the pool atrium, it's a bargain for people looking for basic accommodations. In summer, four people can stay for just $125 including breakfast ($32/ea), and in ski season, the rate is $189 ($48/ea) including breakfast and supper. Small children and dogs are not allowed in Room 6, because of its proximity to the pool. It also can be connected to Room 5 for families or others who need more room to spread out in.
Room 8 is a large room off the pool atrium with a fireplace, king bed, and a day bed with a trundle bed. Although it doesn't have a view, it's a favorite of families with older kids, and people traveling together who prefer separate beds. It has a small 3/4 bath with a shower, and hooks for clothing. Because of its proximity to the pool (steps away), small children and dogs aren't allowed in Room 8. It also can be connected to Room 7 for families or others who need more room to spread out in.

My husband and I stayed at the High Mountain Lodge for 2 nights in early October. Tom and Julie couldn't have been more accommodating. From restaurant recommendations to excellent information about nearby hikes to pointing us in the right direction to pick up a cheap bathing suit (since we'd forgotten ours), they were very helpful. The breakfasts were wonderful and included fresh fruit, egg dishes and waffles. Tom will also make a great latte if you want one. There's also an evening happy hour with snacks and drinks. The lodge has an indoor pool and hot tub, game room with pool table and other games, fireplace and TV. It is set up for skiers with boot dryers, ski racks and different room configurations for groups, families and couples. It's also dog-friendly if your furry family member wants to come along. We will definitely be back.

This past weekend my fiancé surprised me with a mini vacation to High Mountain Lodge. It was absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way. Julie and Tom were so sweet and hospitable. When we arrived, were greeted by two very friendly and enthusiastic dogs and we were given a tour of the amenities and our room. Our room had a fireplace in it- which was great for relaxing by with a nice bottle of wine. I really wish I would have taken a walk down to see the horses to feed them carrots. The hot tub was broken when we were there but it looked like Tom was working hard on getting it fixed. The pool and sauna was delightful- the perfect place to warm our chilly bones. Breakfast was delicious. Tom is a fantastic chef! Julie's hospitality and attentiveness make me feel like I was at home with mom cooking. The cocktail hour was really fun too. It was a great chance to meet new people and watch the sunset. Truly an experience that I wish I would have had a camera for. I enjoyed my mini surprise vacation sooo much. I can’t wait to go back with a group of friends. Many thanks to Tom and Julie for being such wonderful innkeepers. They truly made the experience carefree and fun. They had great suggestions for activities too!

We enjoyed our stay at the High Mountain Lodge very much. The hosts, Julie and Tom bent over backwards to fulfill our every wishes. The place was clean, cozy and we had delicious meals. We will certainly go there again whenever we are at Winter Park, CO.

I love High Mountain Lodge. We used to go there when it was under different ownership and they served gourmet dinners; the price back then was quite high. Now for a reasonable price, you get breakfast, dinner, a spa, a place to bring the dogs(!) and warm hospitality. It's perfect!

The High Mountain Lodge is approximately two hours west of DIA. From DIA take I-70 westbound into the mountains, then Hwy. 40 over Berthoud Pass. You'll need a car to get to the Lodge and around the valley, and in the winter we highly recommend an all-wheel-drive vehicle. The Lodge is located less than ten minutes from Fraser and the town of Winter Park, twenty minutes from Tabernash, thirty from Granby, and forty minutes from Hot Sulphur Springs (great hot spring pools), the town of Grand Lake and the west entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. Winter Park Ski area is fifteen minutes away, and we recommend parking in Fraser and taking the free bus to the area.
