Escape to a bygone era at The Gables Inn, a beautifully restored Victorian mansion sitting on three acres in the center of the spectacular Sonoma Wine Country. Built in 1877 and known as the Gables since its early days, the Gables Wine Country Inn is a striking example of High Victorian Gothic Revival architecture. Three Italian marble fireplaces, a spectacular mahogany spiral staircase, and soaring twelve foot ceilings grace her interior while fifteen gables crown the unique keyhole shaped windows of her exterior. Each spacious guestroom has been furnished and decorated to reflect the historical detail found in only the most elegant Victorian mansions. Antique armoires, period artwork, and luxurious goose down bedding grace our quaint but spacious rooms. All guestrooms feature a private bath with an antique claw foot tub. Separate from the main house is William and Mary’s Cottage, a cozy little hideaway an extra large Jacuzzi bathtub, loft queen bed, kitchenette, and wood burning fireplace. A wonderful gourmet breakfast of homemade breads and pastries, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a delicious entrée made from fresh local ingredients awaits you each morning in our lovely dining room. Stretching in all directions around our inn is the charming, diverse oasis of the Sonoma Wine Country. Take a drive out to the Pacific Ocean, relax along the Russian River, or visit one of the hundreds of local wineries. Mild winters and sunny summers make this a perfect getaway any time of year.

My husband and I had to attend a funeral in Santa Rosa and wanted to spend the night somewhere where we could just relax in a peaceful environment. The cottage was the perfect spot. It was cozy and quiet. Breakfast was very good as well.

a. My stay at the Gables Inn was an experience that opened my eyes to how a Bed and Breakfast should be run. You enter as a guest but you leave as a friend with a longing to return. This is precisely why I ran into two guests who have stayed at the Inn in March and were happy to be back again this November. The property of the Inn is absolutely gorgeous. It is furnished and decorated in a Victorian style with much taste. I had stayed at the Parlor room, where the ceilings are twelve feet and the bathroom is larger than many Manhattan apartments. The fireplace was also a good touch. The room was impeccably clean. There is a beautiful “living room” with a piano where both guests and proprietors mingle during the evening. One aspect of my visit was particularly pleasant, because the proprietors, Larry and Pam, went out of their way to make my stay in Sonoma memorable. They spent time directing me to vineries that produce wine suited to my particular tastes as well as giving me directions to a park where the Redwoods are in easy reach. Also, the breakfasts were something to die for. You would think that at this point it would be hard to be impressed with food but nothing could be further from the truth. The breakfast was creative, fresh, and nothing short of dazzling. The proprietors are incredibly accommodating. As I was leaving early, breakfast was served to me a little bit early. It is this kind of flexibility and grace that I do not often encounter when staying at a B&B. The combination of a beautiful property, incredibly knowledgeable Inn Keepers whose guidance makes your stay easy and enjoyable, is the reason why this will be my go to accommodation in Sonoma.

Larry and Pam will make you feel like a welcomed member of their family---their hospitality and sweet spirit is an immediate bonus! The food is nothing short of fabulous, so creative and beautifully presented! Pam makes a killer scone and Larry's dishes are simply superb! I just laughed when I saw the sheets they use can be ordered---every night when we went to bed we commented on the super soft quality of them! You will sleep like a baby! Our own experience was unique in that we were part of a group who took over the entire place-the memories made are in large part to extraordinary lengths the owners took to set up amazing tours and dinners. We all met there from various places and because of their attention to even the smallest details, we were able to focus on just enjoying the friendships and special birthday celebration we came for! We would highly recommend this place, and promise you will love everything right down to the gong Pam rings for breakfast! Sometimes it really is just about the details and this place hits them all! Go and enjoy the culinary experience, fantastic beds and gracious hosts--you will not be disappointed! Finally, my husband wanted me to say the coffee shipped in from Louisiana is AWESOME--not sure which withdraw is worse right now, the wine or coffee! Thanks for everything! :)
