The location was excellent, had a great experience.

I love this historical house and room. But there is no elevator so it is difficult for us to lift the heavy luggages upstairs. The Bon Apetite Package is very deserved to try with Shadow Brook~

This is a case where the pictures on their website are beautiful and the actual inn is even better. The West Cliff Inn has great charm. Rooms are very large. The marble bathrooms are terrific. The entire place is immaculate. Wonderful location, convenient to everything. The staff is helpful, but not imposing. We will be back.

Stayed at the West Cliff Inn for the 1st 2 nights of an anniversary trip. Stayed in room 6 on second floor front. Had a small view of the beach beyond the balcony. Cozy room, beautifully decorated, with king bed, gas fireplace, huge closet, spacious bathroom with very deep jetted tub/shower combo. Staff was friendly & willing to help with directions, etc. Refrigerator in reception area for guests to use & access to kitchen for ice. Beach, wharf & boardwalk are a short walk with lots of restaurants & entertainment. Hope to go back for a longer stay someday!

This was our first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast and it won't be our last. The rooms were charming and the view from our room was exactly like the picture shown. The food was exceptional and the wine delightful. The location of the property was perfect for taking walks along the beach or bike rides along the coast to watch the surfers, sea lions, dolphins and otters. The cleanlines of the property and grounds were superb. The value unbelievable. We stayed two nights and got the second night free. Overall our impression was "wow". We would highly recommend this place and would like to try the other Four Sisters Inn if we are ever in the area.

I was able to book this B&B on a special "2 for 1" - two nights for the price of one. A fantastic value and a lovely place to stay. Although I was on the first floor, near reception desk and dining area, it was quiet. Food was good, very hospitable staff.

My husband and I recently stayed here for an overnight "baby moon"--a last getaway before our baby arrives. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the West Cliff Inn! Our room wasn't quite ready yet when we arrived, so we grabbed a complimentary cookie and sat by the front window--a relaxing spot and great view! Our room was beautiful, and we really loved the large bath! I was expecting just a plain ol' continental breakfast in the morning, but it was delicious, with quiche, potatoes, muffins, and fruit to choose from. It's a bit of a splurge price-wise, but we were very happy with our stay.

It was my girlfriend's birthday so we spent a night at the West Cliff Inn and had dinner at the Shadowbrook Restaurant. Our room had a private balcony with a hot tub that was wonderful. The balcony also had a large 2 person recliner chair that we had breakfast on which was very nice and the food was good. The wine and cheese downstairs in the late afternoon was also very good. I would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast. The staff was very accommodating as well.

My boyfriend and I had a marvelous stay at the West Cliff Inn. The room was cozy and luxurious, the balcony was the perfect spot for enjoying a relaxing afternoon and the food was delicious! The cookies were not as good as I'd expected, but the afternoon snacks as well as the breakfast were truly deliciously indulgent. A wonderful weekend. We will return and recommend it to friends!

The Inn is in a perfect location and is a short walk to the pier for dining. If it's the beach or boardwalk you want those too are a short walk away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

Best place to stay in Santa Cruz. Beautiful rooms and location. We enjoyed walking on the cliffs and relaxing with the views. We had a couple of small issues that were promptly taken care of by the excellent staff. We will be returning!

We stayed for 2 nights in a King Spa room. The rooms were extremely clean and well sized. The breakfas was good as well as the afternoon snack - only complaint was could have had some meat options in the selection.

Our stay was great. The rooms were clean, and nicely decorated. It's a nice location. Good service. However, it was very loud in the morning! It's on a busy street and so morning trucks are around, cars parking, etc. Other than that, I recommend it if you're in Santa Cruz. just not a very "serene" place to stay if you're looking for a quiet getaway.

This was our first trip to Santa Cruz and we did not have a recommendation of where to stay. We found West Cliff Inn through Yelp and decided to give it a try. It was much more than we expected. The staff was exceptional, warm, and helpful and the rooms were cozy, clean, bright and romantic! I would highly recommend the West Cliff Inn! Thanks for the stay!

Lovely home in a great setting. Loved having the fireplace.

The B&B looks very cute from the outside and the room we stated in, Room 6 was very nice. However, two main issues: we couldn't turn the AC on or the heat down and the room was stifling hot at night. There was also a great deal of noise throughout the night, what sounded like homeless people or young kids partying very hard, swearing, and very loud. Also what you can't see: the B& B is right next door to a row of townhouses which in the morning, had garbage strewn about (pizza boxes and beer bottles.) Maybe these were the remnants of the party during the night. The Inn was very pretty and the service was good but the surroundings and the heat problems deterred from having a positive experience.

Booked a room with a hot tub was not expecting to find it outside overlooking the hotel next door. Had a nice stay, but the bed was a little stiff.

The room was spacious and well decorated with pottery barn furnishings. Comfy bed and huge bathroom with large jacuzzi tub. Wine and cheese spread when we arrived was a nice surprise. Breakfast was hearty with a hot egg casserole, fresh scones and pancakes. Their coffee is excellent. We chose this place because location across beach and also we needed to charge our Nissan LEAF overnight -we checked while booking and they said there is a parking space near an outlet outside. Sure enough, with a parking space behind their kitchen and our portable plug kit plugged into a regular outlet, we were good to go with 100% charge in the morning. Thank you West Cliff Inn! We will definitely stay there again.

What a beautiful Inn, and perfect location for setting off on an adventure! West Cliff Drive is right out your door, and the view of the pier and Boardwalk was breathtaking. Our room was perfect, and we had a patio to ourselves with our jacuzzi. Only downside was the breakfast, not your usual B & B quality. Bagels generic, coffee just OK, no meat, minimal spices in single hot dish. We ate out our second morning. Besides that, I would recommend anyone going to this quality inn.

My significant other and I spent the weekend at the West Cliff Inn for our Anniversary. We were very happy with the staff who were exceptionally polite and helpful. The room was clean and the large tub was to die for!!!

We absolutely LOVED our stay here. Besides staying in another Four Sisters Inn in Yountville (also very lovely) the night before, this was our first experience staying in a B & B and couldn't have chosen anything better! This will most definitely be put on our "favorites list" of places we have stayed. I can't wait for the next time (I'm really hoping for the one in Mexico which looks unbelievable!).

Everything was perfect. The breakfast in bed was worth the minimal cost, it made my soon to be husband feel very special. From suite 5 we had a perfect view of the moon from the jacuzzi. We will be back.

We stayed in the Little Beach Bungalow and, sure, it was cozy, but completely private! Enjoyed the wine and cheese and the breakfast, as well as taking the bikes out for a spin. We just happened to have amazing weather!

Had a wonderful getaway weekend. The cottage was charming and the breakfast was superb!

We have family nearby in Santa Cruz and wanted a nice place to stay after a birthday party. This beautifulyl restored Victorian in right across from the wharf. It looks like one big white wedding cake, and inside is just lovely. Our room was a king, with a partial ocean view. There was a gas fireplace, small TV (which we never turned on), and nice chairs to sit in and read. Very comfortable and clean. Big marble bathroom with tub and shower. Quiet at night, and there was parking for our car just behind the building. Oh, we also travel with a small dog - who is welcome at this inn. The next month was Christmas, so we stayed there Christmas eve. Again, wonderful room. Breakfast is in a small private dining room off the main lounge - wonderful egg dish, fresh scones, fruit, toast, coffee, orange juice..what else could you want? They will even serve you breakfast in bed if that is your style. One note about the neighborhood: The wharf area can be a little dicey after dark. The beach and wharf draw a somewhat seady sort of crowd. We have always felt safe in Santa Cruz and especially at the Westcliff Inn, but it would probably the best not to take any strolls along the beach after dark. This is a great addition to the west side of Santa Cruz. We look forward to our next visit.

We were looking for a quite relaxing place, and this was the perfect place to do so. Great service, nice breakfast, and a beautiful property.

Very nice inn. Convenient to wharf and a view of the ocean. Very pleasant stay in every respect. I rated two things "Met My Expectations" because I have stayed and several Four Sisters inns in the past and found them all excellent so that is what I expected.

We stayed at the West Cliff for our Mini Honeymoon right after our wedding. The room was lovely, the jacuzzi tub was wonderful! We were very happy with the hotel. The location is great, the view was wonderful and it was awesome being in walking distance to the wharf and boardwalk. Our only complaint was breakfast was just OK, not much variety. We would stay here again in a heart beat.

I loved staying at the West Cliff Inn in Santa Cruz, the staff made my stay very enjoyable. They were all very honest. I had left my new phone underneath my pillow and upon returning to my room couldn't find it and after enquiring as to its where abouts was told that the cleaning staff had placed in up on the mantle above the fireplace very visible, I just didn't look hard enough! I can tell you at other motels I have stayed in, this would not have happened!!! Nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast was divine and the room was made up beautifully every day. I loved the bear in my room which I adopted and now sits on my bed home in Australia. The complimentary toiletries were supplied in generous quantities and the bathroom was spotless. The coffee machine was in regular use and I love the Ice availability whenever I asked for some. The bed was extremely comfortable and welcoming and if it had been cold enough the fireplace would have been put to good use too. The afternoon Nibbles and Wine were a delight and very much enjoyed out on the verandah outside my room, with the heavenly view over the bay. My stay was very relaxing; privacy and quietness were observed at all times. Meeting the other guests was interesting as they came from far and wide. All in all my stay in Santa Cruz was very memorable and very enjoyable

Perfect location. Next to the boardwalk. Afternoon tea was great. Lots of good places to eat within walking distance.

I booked this room with the dining package and got a confirmation that I had the room with the dining package tour. Not till almost a week before my stay did I receive an e-mail that I needed to make a reservation with the dining tour company. I called them and was told it was sold out, but when I told them I booked through West Cliff about 3 weeks ago they said if you called us 3 weeks ago we have plenty of open spots. My only suggestion is if you offer to book the dining tour and charge for it then the Inn should be responsible for making a reservation with the tour company. Or at least let me know that I need to do that right when I make the reservation and not a week before I arrive. Otherwise was happy with my stay.

The bolsters made the bed actually comfortable for reading, TV, etc. Communal fridge for guests also a nice touch; a mini-fridge in the room would have been jarring to the decor. The marble shower is, in current vernacular, "ill." Staff were very accommodating and competent. (Even laughed at some of my jokes.) We plan to return.

This was our first time to stay at a Bed and Breakfast. I am so glad that we chose to stay here. We stayed in the Queen Cottage. Very private and delightfully charming! Will definitely choose to stay here again. The food was beyond delicious! It was more than I had expected. I am looking forward to staying here again real soon.

We had a pleasant stay at the WCI. The room we occupied (9) was roomy and had a lovely bathroom but only one small window. which fortunately we were able to open. They also provided a do it yourself air-conditioner which required feeding a tube out the window. This was great during the day but at night when street noise necessitated closing the window a portable fan helped to move the air around. The breakfast was fresh, nutritious and plentiful. The service was good but not stellar, however as we'd stayed there before we already knew about the various amenities that they neglected to mention at check-in this time. The location is great. We enjoyed sitting on the second floor balcony with a glass of wine watching the activity on and around the water. The following day when the fog was heavy we enjoyed the views form the main floor bay window. All things considered, the West Cliff Inn in our favorite place to stay in Santa Cruz.

We had a great time. The breakfast was great, and the room was fantastic. The staff as well were friendly and understanding.

I've stayed here multiple times and always feel like I'm staying with family. The only thing that is a con on occasion is the firmness of the beds. I am partial to my memory foam at home, and a bit sensitive to firmer mattresses. Otherwise I look forward to staying at West Cliff Inn each time I visit Santa Cruz.

This is an excellent place to stay. The only reason the rankings aren't higher is that I expected it to be great, and it was, so it didn't really exceed my expectations.

West Cliff Inn is a stunning, perfectly located property. My husband and I enjoyed our stay tremendously and did not want to leave! We plan to stay there again during our next visit to Santa Cruz. The views exceeded my expectations.

This is a beautiful hotel with clean rooms within easy walking distance of all that Santa Cruz has to offer. However, it really feels more like a hotel with breakfast included than a B&B where you get to know the owner and have a great breakfast with other guests. I have not stayed at one of their other 13 properties but I am not positive that I would stay at a Four Sisters Inn again. West Cliff Inn is beautiful but feels like it was renovated to make money as opposed to with the loving care of an individual owner run B&B. Case in point, we stayed in a room directly next to the main entry door so that it was very noisy and not comfortable when people walked in past midnight. An owner occupied B&B might have not used that room as a bedroom (instead using it as an extra sitting or living room) but an investor would in order to earn additional dollars to make a certain return on investment. Long story short, if you want a clean, nice hotel overlooking the ocean in Santa Cruz, stay here. If you want the charms of staying in a B&B that is like someone's home and where you might have a great conversation with the owner or other guests, then this is not likely the place for you.

I had a wonderful time staying at the West Cliff Inn. When I arrived at the front desk, the receptionist was very friendly and answered all my questions and made me feel at home. They even had a big jar of complimentary cookies that guests could help themselves to! I stayed in an adorable cottage in the back of the property and it was the perfect size for me. The staff was really nice to me every time I saw them (and I asked them a lot of questions about directions and cabs). The daily morning breakfast was fantastic! I especially loved the hobo egg scramble dish that the chef concocted (he was also very nice and was humming a song whenever I saw him). Because the Inn is perched right on the top of the hill you can look down and see the entire Santa Cruz boardwalk perfectly. I had a great time staying here and I look forward to coming back in the near future!

We recently spent 4 nights at the Inn. The location was excellent, overlooking the boardwalk and an easy walk to the wharf and the cliff side. Breakfast each morning exceed our expectations and varied daily. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms were spacious and clean. We chose W. Cliff Inn for a lady minute getaway in Santa Cruz. We loved it! Excellent service, quiet, beautiful decor, and comfortable. The location was perfect for walking downtown to dinner, close to jogging/bike path along the ocean, and near the beach. We enjoyed borrowing the inn's beach bikes one afternoon. It couldn't have been a better choice for a quick getaway! Loved it!

My wife and I were captivated by this gorgeous inn on the bluff. It oozed charm and great attention to detail. The rooms were great, wonderful views, terrific food and top-notch service. The price was good as well. We would recommend it.

My husband and I spent our 10 year anniversary at West Cliff Inn. It was perfect! We met in Santa Cruz, so this was especially memorable. The staff was friendly. The location, perfect. The rooms are so spacious (and we didn't even have to splurge on the more expensive rooms). A great place to stay for a romantic getaway.

After 2 nights in a tent at Yosemite, we decided to treat ourselves at te West Cliff Inn. We weren't disappointed, the room was lovely, with an exceptional sea view, comfortable bed, and luxurious bathroom. The breakfast was basic and could do with enhancing, although what we did have was lovely and freshly baked. All in all a lovely hotel, albeit a tad on the pricey side, but then the location and the view don't come cheap.

Charming and very well appointed building, attentive staff. Rooms at top do not have much of view, skylights compensate but not completely. Very private.

We were travelling in california on vacation and spent 2 nights in Santa Cruz.

I felt like I was a guest in someone's mansion with a butler at my needs. We stayed in room 3 which looked out towards the beach and wharf. Honestly we stayed in our room a lot bc of the bay windows that opened up the the views. It was like being at the boardwalk and wharf without leaving our room. Giant jacuzzi bathtub and separate shower were amazing and the wine and cheese was a delight withcomplimentary tea soda and coffee at all times. Plus, they will get you want ever you like from the kitchen such as wine glasses and ice and a bucket if you have a bottle to open in your room. The cruiser bikes were available and it's a nice ride down west cliff drive. So much to do and see. It was a perfect quick getaway. Breakfast was homemade and such a different treat than the usual "free" breakfast.

This place would have been perfect if the food was better.

The room was nicely decorated and furnished with a nice view out both windows. I would stay at this bed and breakfast again if I was in the area again. The service was excellent and there were always fresh cookies in the foyer.

The Westcliff Inn is located 2 blocks from the Santa Cruz Pier and 4 blocks from the boardwalk. A very busy location but this Inn offers an oasis in the middle of a crowded area. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is very courteous and the little extras make this a great stay.

The place is really a lovely little place, well kept and cozy. Makes you feel like you're elsewhere, which is nice. We stayed in the one unit detached from the main house... Indeed it is private and cute. But I should note that it is next to the parking spots and the row of condos. Got loud at night as some people in the condos were out front partying late. The afternoon wine and cheese is really nice, breakfast is okay but not great for a B&B. Overall I recommend the stay here, think I would just stay in the main house the next time.

A few things that could be improved by the hotel. 1. Someone present at the hotel 24 hours a day. It just seems odd that no one is at the front-desk so you are on your own after business hours. 2. An optional fridge in every room. 3. Bottled water in the complimentary beverage fridge. 4. Making the hotel accessible. There is no elevator in the three level hotel so if you have luggage, you better be able to carry it up the stairs. A few things that were excellent: 1. The breakfast. It was the best we have had at any hotel anywhere. 2. The staff during business hours is extremely helpful and courteous. 3. The wine and Hors d'oeuvre in the afternoon were a nice touch. 4. It is a real close walk to the wharf, the beach and the boardwalk.

The staff is super helpful and friendly, we felt very welcome. I really loved the room we were staying in which had the hot tub on private deck. What I didn't like were the views off the deck as well as the jasmine that seemed to be dying around the hot tub and the screaming kids the next morning in the room next to us and in the hallway. Breakfast was lovely served by the chef who obviously loves his job. A treasure!! I was pleasantly surprised by the options and especially loved the authentic quiche. The whole house is beautifully decorated, clean and comfy.

staff was very friendly and helpful. they provided us with everything we needed and helped with making dinner reservations. the room we stayed in was perfect. we got room 9 on the top floor and we got it for a great deal. stay 1 night get the 2nd night free! it was quiet, clean, and really comfortable. the overall stay was amazing and would love to come back to stay there again :)

We had a wonderful stay during our one night in Santa Cruz at the West Cliff Inn. The grounds are beautiful, with pink roses growing in the front lawn. The house itself is beautiful, tastefully decorated, and renovated, maintaining an old house feel but with modern elegance. After hiking in the redwood forest all day, we enjoyed checking in and being welcome with wine, cheese, and fruit. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and we were given a free upgrade from the room we reserved to the one we stayed in. A few minor comments: we had originally reserved the cottage, which we were under the impression might be across a garden or something independent from the main building. In actuality (we didn't go inside, but trust that it is beautiful), the cottage appears to be old servant quarters, and is located across the parking lot, which some people may not like so just something to consider. Additionally, the view from the front porch does not offer the wide beach view as some of the images might make it seem. There is a short hotel located directly across from the inn, which blocks some of the view, however you are walking distance to the boardwalk and strip with beautiful views of the water, seals, cliffs, shops, etc. The location is wonderful! just wanted to include these two details which were not extremely transparent to me before reserving. However, we were extremely happy with our stay and will definitely be returning during our next day-cation :)

I would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Monterey Bay area. Great views.

When we went on the internet to look for a place to stay while attending a wedding in Santa Cruz CA, we had just a couple of must. Must be near the boardwalk (so we could walk to the dinner for the happy couple the night before the wedding), and that it be a nice stay for us. The West Cliff Inn was a wonderful treat ! The service was exceptional. The morning breakfast both mornings was outstanding and delicious. The room had a great view and was very comfortable and lovely. All together the weekend was wonderful. The West Cliff Inn is an absolutely lovely place with an outstanding location and impeccable service. My only complaint was that our room ceiling began leaking both nights of our stay, and although the staff was very accommodating to us, they were not able to do anything until the following mornings, so both nights we had to sleep to dripping sounds. Other than that, the rooms are gorgeous and the breakfast and wine reception were fantastic!

My 8 year-old daughter and I stayed one night at the lovely West Cliff Inn. This beautifully refurbished Victorian was elegant, comfortable and had great views, but the real beauty of the place was in the kindness of the staff. The lovely front desk person not only allowed me to keep my vehicle parked in the lot after check-out (may not always happen, this was off-season), but when I found that my car wouldn't start when we returned after a busy day, called AAA for me, put out the afternoon snacks early and allowed my daughter and I to relax in the lobby while waiting for service. She made a potentially stressful situation into another nice part of our trip! :-)

My husband and I had an amazing time, the customer service was beyond our expectations! They called ahead to our resturaunt and we received a complimentary appetizer from the chef. We felt so lucky! Definitely Would stay there again, in a heartbeat.

This is a wonderful place to stay and relax. It is by far the best hotel/bed and breakfast in Santa Cruz. Having lived in nearby Scotts Valley for 20 years and then returning as a tourist I can say that the locals love the Inn and were so glad when the property was renovated about 10 years ago. I've been back to stay several times. It's a great location and quiet for being centrally located to the beach across the street, West Cliff drive which is a walking path all along the beach front down to Natural Bridges, the boardwalk, 30 mins from Monterey and blocks from downtown Santa Cruz. It's a beautifully restored Victorian mansion with ambiance, personality, clean and cozy. The staff is friendly and helpful and always make my stay memorable with a handwritten birthday note and balloons in my room. The breakfasts are delightful, tasty and a special treat. You won't want to leave and you will want to come back!

Room was clean, nice, very small "Deluxe King", on second floor - small windows,which open onto public deck/balcony, so cannot have open if people are on deck. Loved the home-baked cookies available all the time, also very nice wine and cheese/goodies in afternoon. Breakfast was lovely, very good, simple. Staff was one college student who did not know much, not even where wharf was, never saw anyone else. Good location as easy walk to wharf and boardwalk. Very pretty place, well kept.

Our stay at the West Cliff Inn was extremely enjoyable. The room was beautiful and comfortable. My wife especially liked the bathroom. We were close to the wharf and the view from the Inn was spectacular. Will definitely be back....

The top floor room was lovely as was the bathroom. Thought for the most expensive room there, we would have the best room. The windows were super small, would recommend remodeling windows to increase lovely view. Outside street noise was super loud, hard to sleep, not much you can do about that I think. Day bed/couch cover had burn marks in them which was pretty gross. Breakfast smells woke me up at 5am they were so strong in our room, not sure you can do much about that either but the smell of meat frying was extremely strong, would recommend a better ventilation system in kitchen as guests may not want to continue to smell food so strong for hours at a time!

The room was beautiful and the staff were great. The hot tub did not work properly and the breakfast could have been better.

We LOVED our stay at West Cliff Inn. Staff was so friendly and helpful and our room was fabulous! The breakfast in the morning was delicious and they had a great quiche. We were on the third floor and had a great view of the pier. Location is great for walking. My only complaint is that I asked the staff if they could find out what brand and color of paint was used in our room and they were great and immediately send an email to corporate and said they would let me know. I never heard from them so forwarded my own email to corporate several days later and still have not heard anything back. If they don't have the information, a courtesy email back would have been nice. Wonder what would happen if I had a complaint....Hmmm?

The staff kindly upgraded my room. It was a lovely stay - I could run along the cliffs, eat a lovely dinner in town, dropped in to a wine tasting, and time to read a book in quiet - just what I needed after five months working in Afghanistan. Even if other guests aren't coming from a war zone, this is the perfect spot to enjoy being alive.

Location, location, location. Lovely room looking out toward the bay. It was quiet and relaxing. The room was clean and well appointed. We did point out to the inn keeper that the curtain in the room was torn and looked a little shabby and she said they were aware of the problem but unclear on on to fix it (how about replacement).

The lamp in our room didn't work, the noise from the rest of the house was atrocious, really the only redemption was that each morning there was an excellent breakfast prepared and made available in a calm, friendly environment. NOISY place to stay. Not serene!

Front desk and kitchen staff were extremely friendly! The cookies when we arrived (snicker doodles) were amazing. We stayed in room 9. The bathroom was fantastic, very clean and spacious, loved the shower. Would have liked to have more windows in the room and bathroom for more natural light although skylights were a decent substitution. Also the roll-away AC unit was unnecessary as the weather was cold that weekend, and the unit just took up space. Otherwise, we would definitely come back and will look for other Four Sisters accommodations in other cities as well. Thank you!!

West Cliff Inn is an old-world building in a great location, a short walk to the Beach Boardwalk and a few blocks from downtown shops. Our Petite Queen Cottage was (as expected) small but tasteful and private. Breakfast--a serve-yourself buffet--was copious, varied, and delicious. Use of the bicycles was an added bonus. Wi-fi signal was strong. Very minor issue: DVD player was incorrectly connected to TV. 2nd night free made it a true no-brainer. Strongly recommended for anyone interested in the area.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The only problem was that we did not know what to expect as we had never stayed at a B and B before so we only booked for one night. Unfortunately, we should have booked for two nights as we had a wonderful time and it was such a great location. The Inn was already full for the second night so we had to pack up and move to a different hotel that was lovely as well, but not quite as nice. My advice is to book for two nights minimum. One night was not enough, however, the standard later check out of noon was nice. We didn't feel rushed.

I booked an evening at the West Cliff Inn as a birthday suprise for my husband who used to live in Santa Cruz. We stayed in the King Suite (#5) and were thrilled to find a hot tub on our private balcony! The location was fabulous, right across fromthe beach and the property was absolutely lovely! The staff could not have been more helpful! Overall, a fabulous stay!

We loved the location, just a hop, skip and a jump from the Boardwalk and Wharf. The room was beautiful, and the front desk staff were really kind. Parking can get tricky in the evening, and breakfast was a bit late (but delicious). I would recommend the West Cliff Inn to friends.

My husband and I stayed at the West Cliff Inn for two nights as part our Honeymoon trip in US (We are from the UK). The hotel was lovely, in a great location, and the room that we had was fantastic with an amazing view of the Broadwalk. Breakfast was very good, but can get a bit busy if all guests decide to go at the same time, as the front room where food is served has a limited number of tables. Wine and nibbles was also a good touch in the afternoon. Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone going to Santa Cruz.

This Inn is located across the street from the beach in Santa Cruz. It is beautifuly maintained with wonderful evening wine and snacks. The breakfast every morning was scrumptious. The room was clean and had a large soaking tub and a partial view. However, the room was situated next to a row of Condos that had very noisy young tenants living in them. We did not sleep the entire vacation (4 nights). My husband had to go talk to the individuals partying outside our bedroom window, and this started at Midnight and went on for several hours. (there is no staff on sight at night) Too noisy to ever stay there again!

We had exceedingly friendly service and a delightful room. The common areas were pleasant, and food was quite good.

We stayed overnight at Westfield Inn. Although we thought it was pricey, the place was quiet and classy and not crowded and noisy like the other places. The room we stayed had the ocean view with a nice balcony from which we could people watch. The wine and snacks in the evening was a nice touch. The free breakfast was a wide variety and healthful too. Overall, a ncie stay.

We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness, friendliness,comfortableness and overall appearance of the B n' B. We would certainly go back! It's right near the Boardwalk and accessible to the main roads. The breakfast was delicious; not just your typical Continental breakfast. And, the baked goods were a nice touch.

We honeymooned here with the celebration package and it was just PERFECT. The best way to relax! We also ate at Aquarius across the street for dinner and it was delicious.

I only spent one night at the Inn because I was attending a conference in Santa Cruz and arrived one day early so I could go surfing. The location of the Inn was excellent for my needs. The Inn is spotless and exceedingly well maintained. Everyone working at the Inn was wonderful and professional. It was the first time I had stayed at the Inn. If I return to Santa Cruz, I will definitely stay at the Inn. I will recommend the Inn to my friends and family traveling to Santa Cruz.

We had a spacious room and bathroom... and particularly enjoyed the early evenig wine and snacks (complimentary) which we drank/ate on the upstairs balcony overlooking the beach.

I stayed in the petite cottage. The pictures online make it seem as though the hotel is right on the cliff edge, when there is actually another hotel and a street separating this B&B from the cliff. That aside, the view is still great! Carpets in the cottage looked sad and worn, but rest of the cottage was in perfect condition. Really enjoyed my stay. Friendly staff. Great amenities with the afternoon wine and snacks and complimentary coffee and cookies. I would definitely stay again.

We stayed in the cottage outside of the main house. It was little, but had everything we needed including quite. No one ever bothered us. We went into the house for breakfast, which tasted great. Breakfast was set up so you could go in between 8-10 and eat. Some people stayed in the dinning room and some took their food back to their room. The bed and breakfast is located in a great location. It only took about 3 minutes to walk to the beach/wharf. I will be going back with my husband to stay again.

The West Cliff Inn was an anniversary destination for my husband and me. The inn is lovely, the staff were very nice, the room very comfortable, and the breakfast delicious. My only complaint was the location. While it's got a great view of the beach and water, it's on a busy street with lots of traffic, so it's not exactly tranquil. For the occasion, we would have liked something a little quieter.

I booked the small cottage on a whim only a few days before our trip. The room was small, but better than I expected. The staff was very helpful and curtious. The breakfast was super good and we couldn't have asked for a better location. I'm super glad that we spent the extra $10 to stay at the West Cliff Inn instead of the roadside motel that we were looking at. I would definitely stay here again!

Don't get me wrong, this is a nice play, but the location isn't as romantic as one might think it is. Most rooms don't have a great view of the bay unless you shell out for the top of the line room. The breakfast provided in the morning was very disappointing -- barely any food, just a small breakfast bar with a few hot plate items. The staff was super nice. Rooms have no AC, which is acceptable but my wife and I would only stay again if the price was sub $200

The hotel is a beautiful Italian Victorian Home converted to a B&B. The room we had was wonderful since we had a room with a balcony overlooking the Santa Cruz Harbor. The website is a little misleading in that it appears the hotel is right on the water. It is in fact one or two blocks away but if you have a second floor room facing the harbor, it really doesn't matter much. The accommodations and breakfast were first class! I can't wait to return and try one of their sister B&Bs in other areas of California as well as The West Cliff Inn!

This is a choice property, tastefully decorated (not the often kitschy B&B look) and maintained. Very relaxing, wonderful views of the lively beach but far enough away for peace. Highly recommended.

This is a very nice location just above the boardwalk and beach area. We decided to stay in the petite bungalow and it was very small. This was not a surprise, as it was mentioned on the website when we booked the room. The breakfast was good and included in the nightly rate. I would stay here again, but would probably opt for a room inside the main house.

The petite cottage was just that - petite! But it's private and cozy. The main house looks amazing. Breakfast is excellent and service of the staff was also excellent. I can't wait to come back for another short get away trip.

I loved how close this place was to the Boardwalk! I chose to celebrate my 38th birthday with my husband in Santa Cruz (mainly because I wanted to ride the Giant Dipper repeatedly.) We were without our young children and we also wanted to have a romantic getaway. This was perfect! The best part of our room (#5) was that we had a private hot tub on our deck. The night sky was gorgeous from our toasty little hot tub. It didn't matter how there was a chill in the air. It was pin-drop quiet at night. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was spacious. The room was super clean- it didn't feel like there were other people staying there before us. It was wonderful! I loved how breakfast was a no brainer- right downstairs when we were ready. I didn't feel like I was being 'nickle and dimed.' You can't ask for too much more.

A good inn for stay in Sata Cruz if you don't mind not having AC and stayin in a rather old building. You should also make sure that you are fit and don't have too many luddage as there is no elevator to go to second and third floors.

We had a lovely visit at the West Cliff -- we were in the small cottage in the back which at first, appears rather tiny. Once inside, it is quite a lovely, cozy environment. Very clean and QUIET. The bathroom is so tastefully done that we are hoping ot replicate it at home. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would love to come back and stay here again.

This bed and breakfast was wonderful!! The staff were so nice and welcoming, the room was beautiful, the whole inn was beautiful!!!! It was right by the beach with great views, we had a private deck with hot tub, which was perfect at the end off the day. would definately go back, already thinking about our next trip!!!

The Inn is beautifully furnished; interiors are just as described with words and photos. However, we were surprised to learn that the Inn sits not on what we consider "the bluff", but across the street from the bluff facing the Dream Inn, with the view of the ocean obscured by buildings and roads. The view of Monterey Bay from the website photo is actually about a half-mile or more down the road, not visible from the Inn. We went cheap and stayed in the cottage which is a small wooden structure behind the Inn, surrounded by an asphalt parking lot, backing up to a mobile home park. Our initial impression is that we had just rented the servants quarters. It is tiny as described, but well furnished and comfortable enough for an overnight stay. The wine and cheese at night, as well as the marvelous full breakfast in the morning at the main house made up for our disappointment of the location. The staff was also a bonus. They gave us with a tour of the Inn as we checked in and were so very gracious that I was reluctant to complain about feeling mislead about the location and view. One more caution (not the Inn's fault): On Monday mornings the trash trucks drive right next to the Inn to empty multiple bins at the townhouses located a single road's width away from the cottage. Don't expect to sleep in!

The West Cliff Inn is a beautiful historic home. The room was decorated in a warm beachy feel, however was extremely small. The staff was great as was the breakfast and afternoon snacks. The biggest problem was the noise from the warf. It was a warm evening and we needed to have the windows open, therefore did not get to sleep until after 1 AM.

We were "complimentary upgraded" from the cottage which we had originally reserved, in part because we liked the idea of a separate space. The room were were upgraded to was rather central (and noisy) as it was right off of the main living room area. The gas fireplace would not stay lit for more than a minute, which was unfortunate because it was a cold couple of days. But otherwise, the room was pretty - we liked the high ceilings and the decor, and the complementary wine and snack period was excellent.

I got into town late and got turned around in the dark. The woman at the front desk gave me excellent directions over the phone. Once I arrived, she recommended an outstanding nearby restaurant. Overall, the stay was fantastic. I just wish I had gotten in earlier to see the sunset from my room window.

! went on line to find a bed and breakfast close by. I grew up in the bay area,so noticed the building when I saw It. We had the best time. Afternoon wine and cheese was ok. Cheap wine and cubed cheese,but we were going out to dinner later. We loved our room, they upgraded us when we arrived. The man who checked us in was wonderful, funny and polite. Our room was beautiful. Breakfast was not great, not a lot to choose from. We went down around 9:30, felt like leftovers from the weekend. We will stay again because of staff, and our fun time we had.

The Inn is in a restored Italianate Victorian house located a few minutes' walk to the Wharf, Boardwalk and 10-15 minutes on foot to downtown. Santa Cruz public parking, especially in summer, can be difficult and expensive so the location is helpful. The high ceilings, understated restoration and feeling of privacy once you are inside make this an ideal retreat from the quirky busyness of Santa Cruz. We checked in a bit after the evening host services were finished, and our host offered us a glass of wine anyway--very appreciated after a long trudge through traffic. Although breakfast is not elaborate, every morning they try to put out a little something special--something hot, something baked fresh. Heat is by a gas fireplace in each room, and there is no AC.

Title says it all. We stayed for one night in mid-January 2011, during their low season and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Breakfast was a refreshing change for the better after several other hotels and B&Bs on the PCH failed to impress.

Perfect location -- right across from the water, within easy walking distance of the boardwalk, but far enough away from the busyness to relax. Absolutely beautiful rooms -- our room had a huge marble shower and a very large jacuzzi bath -- it was gorgeous. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall, this is hands down my favorite place to stay in Santa Cruz.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at West Cliff Inn in Santa Cruz, CA. We had our room upgraded upon our arrival because it was our anniversary. The room was very nice and most importantly the bed was very comfortable. The rooms are also quiet. Our breakfast experience was the best we have experienced at Bed and Breakfast establishments. Full breakfast that was cooked, fresh fruit, and good tea and coffee. The staff is very helpful and hospitable. We would definately stay again.

This B&B up on a hill, with views of the boardwalk and beach, is lovingly restored with 14 ft ceilings, large spacious rooms for roaming, very nice bedrooms with soft towels, bedding, and WONDERFUL mattresses and has a casual yet elegant vibe throughout. We were able to visit with their Winter Specials, which made it affordable and therefore a "value" for us. They serve coffee/tea/cookies all day plus afternoon tibbits and a buffet breakfast that could use better breads/rolls and a little extra umph--still it was fine. We loved our stay. Their wrap-around verandas/porches will be an additional plus in the warmer months.

Check in was smooth, property was clean and well presented. Staff was accommodating and available. Room was exceptional. Great amenities. Nice breakfast and afternoon wine and snacks. Beautiful views, great proximities. Loved this place.

Spent two nights to celebrate our 27th anniversary. We were greeted with balloons and a nice note wishing us more great years of marriage - a great touch. Staff works hard at making a very positive attitude. We will be back.

It was great to stay across the street from the Ocean. We went for a great walk on the beach and poked around the broardwalk off-season peaceful site. The service at the inn was excellent and gorgeous room to relax and enjoy.

We only spent one night but it was very comfortable for a couple and one twenty-something offspring in the top floor room, even affording a private feeling. It's the best location in Santa Cruz. I highly recommend it.

This was our second stay at this Inn. The innkeepers were delightful and you can't beat the location. We arrived early for check-in at noon. They not only were able to accommodate us but they even upgraded us.

This inn was everything that my daughter, once a guest, had said it would be. The only "negatives" were in a couple of housekeeping issues in my room. I'm just going to mention them because your standards are so high, and I would want a guest to do likewise if I were the innkeeper. A picture was hanging askew and when I tried to straighten it, I found the hook was broken. I also couldn't turn on one of the swing lamps on one side of the bed. The other one worked fine.

I stayed at the West Cliff this past weekend and had a wonderful time. When I was booking the hotel, I was on the phone with Demi and online at the same time. I wanted to book online because I thought I found better rates online from what Demi quoted. However, on my drive to Santa Cruz, Demi noticed that I booked for the wrong day, so she call to inform me and said that the rate was going to be sightly higher, which I was cool with, but the blessing is Demi was so nice to us she gave us a free upgrade. Check in was a breeze, Demi was very helpful. However, when it came time to check out the nightmare begin. At exactly 12:00 pm a woman from the hotel enters my room unannounced while my companion was fully naked and getting dressed on the bed. Then at 12:10 pm someone from the front desk calls the room insinuates that we are taking too long to vacate the hotel. The final interuption happens at 12:20 when she sends another woman to knock on the door to aks if "i needed help with my bags". Really? I just told her on the phone that I didn't need help with my 1 small duffel bag. I have never had a checkout experience like that before and I spend 80 to 100 nights a year in hotels because I travel for work. The reality is I had a a great time and the hotel in nice, but once 12:00 pm hits you better vacate the premises or they will bother you until you do. I checked out at 12:30 pm, she even had the nerve to be rude when we check out. Everyone else I encountered at the hotel was friendly and hospitable.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at the West Cliff Inn. They upgraded our room to one with a jetted hot tub which was nice (but we didn't use it). We had a great view of the beach and boardwalk. The fireplace was a nice touch considering it was storming outside. The cookies they had laying about and the wine and app hour was really cute as well. Breakfast was nice however, as a carnivore I could have used some meat :). Our trip was lovely and we will def. be going back our next time in Santa Cruz.

It was a delightful stay, the innkeepers made us feel very welcome, the room was very comfortable and we certainly would like to come back next year, I would certainly recommend the Inn as a pleasant get away. My boyfriend and I stayed one night to celebrate his birthday. The staff and even the other guests were so friendly. Our room actually shared a balcony with other rooms, but no one was out there. It felt like we had our own private view of the Cowell St. Beach/Wharf/Boardwalk area. Beautiful place, beautiful view. And the food (breakfast) was amazing! I expected coffee and pastries, but we had many options... really good, homemade food... eggs, pancakes, etc! Amazing! Thank you, West Cliff!

I reserved a 2 night stay for my son and new daughter-laws wedding weekend in July 2010. I traveled from Iowa to help make some wedding plans in June and visited the West Cliff Inn in person before the wedding. The staff was very kind and helpful. I booked the Cottage for the honeymoon, but when I got back home to Iowa, I decided to upgrade them into the house. On my son's wedding night as they checked into the inn at a late hour, he was presently surprised that he had been upgraded to the best room in the house. When he thanked me for the upgrade I asked him about the room and what he descrided to me was not what I had reserved. Due to a last minute cancelation the staff upgraded him to the best room with the best view at the inn and only charged me for the room that I had booked, which was cheaper. I offered to pay the difference, but they insisted it was their pleasure to upgrade! What a wonderful surprise and wedding gift to my son! I am sure that they will return to the West Cliff Inn in the future to celebrate their anniversaries!

Beautiful Inn. Our room was lovely with a great view. The weather was rainy so we couldn't take advantage of the beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean. The bathroom was absolutely perfect and spotless. All in all a great spot!

The West Cliff Inn is amazing - I have travelled in the US for six months and it is the best accommodation I have ever had the fortune of staying in.

Our stay was after the summer crowds had left, my girlfriend and I wanted to spend some time away from everything and just relax. We picked this place because we thought the room pictures looked nice. I have to say, the rooms are much better when you're there. Rooms may be pricey but worth it when everything there just felt clean and tidy. We went for a king room, and we had best sleep in a long time. The front desk was very helpful and made sure our stay was a pleasant one. We're definitely going to plan for another visit.

This place is lovely! The inn itself is pristine, very clean and beautifully decorated. The service is top notch. My only suggestion would be that they get a bigger variety of games for people to play.

When we arrived the fireplace was on. We were extremely hot during the night and not able to sleep. We had been told how to adjust the fireplace but not how to turn it off. Even on the lowest position the fireplace made the room very hot! There was no one to help us in the night. Because we were on the first floor we could not leave a window open. The first thing we did in the morning (My Birthday)was ask for help. At that time we were told how to turn it completely off. I am still upset about this! The fireplace is not needed in September! It made for an crummy, sleepy birthday.

Arrived and was informed we were upgraded to a spa room much to our delight. Everyone was very friendly and service oriented. I would stay again.

Everything was just outstanding, we could not of asked for a better stay. We would recomend to anyone staying in Santa Cruz.
