The Orchid Inn at Santa Barbara

We arrived very late and stayed only one night. Therefore we chose room 2 on the first floor (we had big luggage). Next time we wood choose another room. Room 2 is very small as well as the bathroom but very cosy and tasteful decorated. There is a closed connection door to the common rooms - clairaudient - but it wasn't a problem. Breakfast was excellent and fresh-made by Meggie. She was very kind and gave me advice as I had a sprained ankle. She also gave us a very good restaurant tip for a restaurant in Carmel.

Overall, our stay at this location was superb. The beds were cozy and comfortable; the breakfast, scrumptious; and the overall proximity to surrounding attractions, well within walking distance.

We stayed here the night of our engagement after driving down from Big Sur -- only wish was that we could have spent more time. A beautiful place, terrific breakfast and certainly a spot we'll try to visit again next time we're back in Santa Barbara!

I've been doing weekends in Santa Barbara for many years, usually at the big name resorts, and this New Year's eve we decided to avoid "cattle herd" at the big resorts and instead stay at a B&B. Well, the Orchid Inn certainly is a hidden gem. Only 8 rooms, attentive staff, lovely quiet atmosphere. We stayed in room 8, and it was totally adorable, fireplace, comfy bed, quaint patio, we couldn't have asked for more. The entire inn is charming, warm, inviting and the owners and staff are impeccable. Breakfast in the beautiful dining room was a delicious way to start our day. We will be back for more!!

On a recent trip to Santa Barbara we had the pleasure of staying at the Orchid Inn. It was a hidden gem - walking distance to the beach and State Sts. shops and eateries. The Inn was lovely, the room was charming and the service exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Santa Barbara especially if you do not want to spend $300 per nite. A gem of a place.

The Orchid Inn is a quaint, charming place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are delicious. They are in a very convenient location. I highly recommend you visit with them while in Santa Barbara.

We stayed two nights at The Orchid Inn at Santa Barbara in July 2010. We had a very comfortable room, the breakfast was delicious and the location was very convenient! We would definitely stay there again and recommend to friends.

Great place to stay! Away from the busy hotels and inn. Private lot means quiet environment and great escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Room was nice, clean and cozy. Amenities were sufficient. Owners were extremely nice and friendly. Staff went above and beyond to mail us an item we forgot in the room. Will definitely stay here again!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Orchid Inn for my birthday, we live in Los Angeles, and were blown away. It is so relaxing and inviting. The interior décor is very elegant. The staff was amazing too. The room was absolutely lovely and clean!. I recommended this inn to all of my friends.

Hi, Just wanted to say My boyfriend and I have fallen head over heels for Santa Barbara and for the past 5 weekends have been coming and staying in different inns...some good some not so good :)..but by a chance we found your Inn the Orchid...from the moment we showed up we we're delighted...from the friendly greeting to everything we ordered being ready...as soon as we opened the door to our beautiful room #7 we felt like we we're staying in a friends beautiful country home it was so peaceful and inviting we decided to stay a extra day...one of the Inn keepers francesca ( please forgive if I am spelling your name wrong) Called and asked if we would enjoy a afternoon snack...she would bring it to us ...well let me tell you we we're blown away by the beautiful tray she brought..filled with fresh fruit, assortment of cheeses olive pate slices of crusty bread glasses of perfectly chilled wine...it was far above and beyond...we we're treated not as simple costumers but as welcome guests by everyone we met...it was beautiful and charming, clean and truth be told if we didn't have to rush back to LA we would have stayed many more days everyone we met was friendly and charming and you can be sure we will be back...Thank-you so much for the wonderful few days we stayed at your Inn...rest assured we will be back and will gladly tell our friends

What a wonderful little jewel! It was the perfect get-away. Room #3 was beautifully decorated, sunny and comfortable (great mattress!). We felt very welcome and were given lots of great suggestions on where to dine and wander around. The inn is incredibly chaming and because of its age (1906) it took you back to another time...yet still with all the modern- day comforts. Thank you for making this such a pleasant mini-vacation for us!!! We look forward to returning again soon!

My wife and I stayed at the Orchid Inn recently and had a very nice experience. The high points were the friendly, warm reception and the excellent breakfast. We also enjoyed interacting with a few of the other guests who seemed to be from everywhere. The room was pretty much as shown in the web site. It was clean, quiet and comfortable, although room 5 could do with maybe one more chair or a small sofa. Although the Inn is located on a fairly busy street, it's set back and there was virtually no street noise. Just a short walk to the beach and to State Street. We're looking forward to coming back.

Gracious phone call by the owners welcoming us(after making a reservation). Received with such warmth and specialness by the receptionist as she showed us around and took us to our rooms. Room 3 exceeded our expectations-loved the unique funiture and innovative placement of everything making us feel like we were truly in another part of the world. Such a comforting smell of sage and lavendar...Breakfast was a healthy and filling spread served by 2 lovely ladies who smiled and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble. 5-6pm gave us time to enjoy a refreshing cheese and wine break....I loved the salami and cheeses while my husband relished both the white and red wines- we even brought some up to our room for later....the pictures we took especially in the dining room and on the steps outside were STUNNING-such beautiful surroundings.... Guess the best surprise was being able to stay for an extended period after checkout without an additional fee... We're planning another visit soon-please plan to stop here if you can-you will be more than delighted!

The Inn was cute and quaint! it was nestled back from the street, so it was very peaceful and relaxing. Could use updated furniture and a little more cleanliness of robes and linens.

This place should be a halfway house not a B&B, dirty rooms, staff who don’t care, punk kids drunk on the property making noise all night long. So overpriced, bad breakfast, bad bed, moldy shower, the room’s stink of musty mushrooms. I had bites all over my body after sleeping in the bed. This place sucks stay at Motel 6 next time.

This is obviously a feedback left intentionally by a local hotel or someone that does not like the idea of having a new, fresh and alternative boutique hotel in town. A guest would have known that we are the new owner who have spent several months renovating completely the inn and replaced all guest rooms mattresses with new super comfortable ones ….the same mattresses, by the way, used by high-end resorts. Furthermore, we only use Mission Linen Supply for all our bedding supply. All our sheets are guaranteed to be clean and sterilized every day and we only use the top-of-the-line 100% Egyptian cotton sheets and pillow cases. Calling a bad breakfast our breakfast is a far shot. We do not serve a normal continental breakfast, which most of the local hotel serve. Our full hot breakfast menu includes choices of eggs and omelets, egg Benedicts with hollandaise sauce, French toast and Belgium waffles with fresh berries/bananas, caramelized almonds and whipped cream, fresh fruit salad, home-baked muffins and scones, warm croissants and home-made granolas, Santa Barbara Roasting Co. Regular and Decaf Coffee, selection of hot teas, hot chocolate and fresh orange juice. We also offer an afternoon wine & cheese tasting to all our guests. We serve the renown Santa Barbara Pinot Noir and Chardonnay along with selection of cheeses accompanied by warm bread freshly baked every day Aall the above is included in our rate. I’d like to find out if a local Motel 6 would include the above in their rates. Please check our latest feedbacks which obviously prove without a doubt that The Orchid Inn at Santa Barbara is a lovely and refreshing new place in town!

we arrived at bed and breakfast it looked as web site showed it wasn't the cleanest place we have stayed at, the rugs were in need of vacuuming and floors could have been washed but this never occurred during our stay. We were unable to open doors to balcony or the windows for a cool breeze due to no screens, we didn't receive any cups in the bathroom until last night, As for breakfast the meal seemed like they were rationing one serving for two people the food was barely room temperature the breakfast potatoes were tasty but not cooked through and the one piece of toast each was sour dough we think but no other choices were given, when we were offered french toast with bananas we asked for bananas on the side and both were served with them on top with a sorry I told them on the side from the food server (lucky we weren't allergic to them) because she didn't offer to correct error, the milk was warm and when we asked for whole milk that was cold we received two percent warm. we would not recommend this place to anyone unfortunately

We are sorry to hear about your experience. We are quite surprised to receive such feedbacks in regards to our breakfast menu as we provide a wide variety of choices and adequate servings. In all honesty, this is the first time we receive complains about our breakfast menu. Nevertheless, we listen carefully to our guests’ needs and remarks as we believe there is always room to learn and improve. We are the new owners and just taken over the business. For the past year, we have managed a beautiful and very successful vacation rental estate in Montecito called Orzi De Montecito and our objective is to bring the same successful concept and experience to our Inn. We are currently renovating the entire inn and decorating each room and the entire landscape. We have already replaced all mattresses in each room with new very high quality and comfortable mattresses used by most luxurious hotels. During the next two weeks, all rooms will also have new carpets and in-room compact refrigerators. We are also revamping the breakfast menus with new idea and daily specials. Furthermore, we have added new items to our complimentary afternoon wine & cheese tasting. All the above is included in our rates ….something that most hotels charge you for. Soon we will also have dinner events in our living room area for our guests to enjoy and a new website and name. We hope to see you again to experience our new home!

This was our first experience at a B&B. We went to Santa Barbara to celebrate our 10th anniversary! We found the Orchid Inn to be very relaxing. It is close to State St., the Beach and easy access to the freeway to make our way to wine country. The host and owner were very friendly. We stayed in room 7 which has an excellent view of the Mountains (unfortunately the fire started on the second day of the trip so the view of the mountains did not last long). Breakfast and the evening wine and cheese hit the spot. We would definitely recommend staying here for a special occasion.

The Orchid Inn was perfect for the get-a-way my husband and I planned. The rooms were nice...loved the fireplace in room 6 as well as the double doors that opened for fresh air. It was nice to have breakfast made every morning with no waiting, although the breakfast was very ordinary (bacon, eggs, potatoes). We loved the evening wine and cheese...it was a perfect wind down from the day. Glenn the inn keeper was great! He was very hospitable and gave great recommendations! We will definitely stay there again when we are back in Santa Barbara!

My husband & I stayed here for our babymoon and we had the best time. Jesper, the owner of the B&B, was super helpful & made us feel welcome right away. The room was clean & cozy. The food was also excellent.

This B&B was an awesome, clean, european place to stay. It;s decor was nice, atmosphere quiet and service friendly. Two blocks from the harbor and downtown, we will definitely be returning! Would totally recommend!!

Relaxing, excellent stay! Located perfectly - close to state st. and beach, but far enough that it stays quiet. Service is excellent, wine and cheese hour is delicious, generous, and relaxing. Beautiful house, excellent staff, gorgeous rooms!

We have been to the Orchid Inn before, and loved it. Jasper, the receptionist, made this visit extra special with all his local insights.

We were pleasantly surprised to find an establishment in Santa Barbara that offered reasonable rates and had an available King size bed. For taller guests, the best we can usually find is Queen size, but here, comfort was not compromised. The food was not as elegant as some, but the facility is beautiful and the innkeeper is very friendly.

The orchid inn is pleasant, quiet, and the rooms are very private. We walked to State St. in 15mins. Our expectations were truly met. the best part of the orchid inn was the privacy given to the guests, you couldn’t even tell that other people were staying there (there was a full house) b/c of the privacy.

My husband and I had a FANTASTIC stay at the Orchid Inn! Breakfast was very tasty and the room was clean and very tastefully decorated (room 7). The Inn supplied Aveda products and the flat screen TV with sattelite was nice for downtime. The corner bath tub was great, and the fireplaced kept the room toasty at night. Would HIGHLY recommend for anyone wanting a modern, hip, clean place to stay walking distance to State Street and the beach!

Wonderful get away. Everyone at the B&B was awesome. Would recommend to friends and family and will return, asap.
