    The Secret Garden is one of Santa Barbara's oldest inns, formerly called the Blue Quail. The inn consists of a main house and four cottages set in a lush jasmine, Jacaranda and camellia filled garden. The intertwined branches of the Persimmon, Avocado and Pecan trees combined with the high hedges and private lawns add to the secrecy of the garden while Hummingbirds, blue jays and trickle of fountains add peace and tranquillity. All eleven rooms have private bathrooms and four of the suites have a private outdoor Hot Tub.

    I'm been trying to get here for two years; broke my ankle with a long recovery and finally arrived for a much-needed weekend away. After all that time, you think I would have high expectations. And Secret Garden did not disappoint. First of all, I couldn't believe the amount of food we got. A HUGE breakfast (Sunday was omelettes any way we liked them, poached pears, a galette and some other sort of pastry), wine and cheese at 5pm, and brownies, chocolates and hot cider left out at night. I stayed in the main house and it was lovely. My room was spacious with a window seat and morning sun; I came to write and shop so this was perfect. Very quiet, lots of off-street parking, and help in negotiating Santa Barbara. I'm definitely coming back!

    My husband and I decided on a spontaneous get-away for our anniversary in Santa Barbara. Just one day before we decided to go, I went on line, found the Secret Garden Inn, read the reviews and booked it. While we only stayed overnight, we had a wonderful experience. Domonique, the proprietore, was warm and welcoming and most helpful with suggestions for the short time we had to spend in Santa Barbara. The rooms was quaint, clean and very accommodating. Breakfast was delicious. The cost of our stay was extremely reasonable. We will definitely stay there again the next time we are planning a get-away to this wonderful city!
