Very clean, delicious breakfast and treats--even wine and cheese in the afternoon! Would highly recommend this B&B.

This was my second time staying here and I will definitely go back. Love it here!

I'm been trying to get here for two years; broke my ankle with a long recovery and finally arrived for a much-needed weekend away. After all that time, you think I would have high expectations. And Secret Garden did not disappoint. First of all, I couldn't believe the amount of food we got. A HUGE breakfast (Sunday was omelettes any way we liked them, poached pears, a galette and some other sort of pastry), wine and cheese at 5pm, and brownies, chocolates and hot cider left out at night. I stayed in the main house and it was lovely. My room was spacious with a window seat and morning sun; I came to write and shop so this was perfect. Very quiet, lots of off-street parking, and help in negotiating Santa Barbara. I'm definitely coming back!

My husband and I decided on a spontaneous get-away for our anniversary in Santa Barbara. Just one day before we decided to go, I went on line, found the Secret Garden Inn, read the reviews and booked it. While we only stayed overnight, we had a wonderful experience. Domonique, the proprietore, was warm and welcoming and most helpful with suggestions for the short time we had to spend in Santa Barbara. The rooms was quaint, clean and very accommodating. Breakfast was delicious. The cost of our stay was extremely reasonable. We will definitely stay there again the next time we are planning a get-away to this wonderful city!

The bedtime brownies and chocolates were a perfect ending to our days in Santa Barbara. Dominique is a delightful cook and host.

This stay was amazing. Dominique is just great at customer service and I love the rooms. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants a quiet, romantic and peaceful getaway. We only had planned to stay one night but we ended up staying two because we couldn't leave. The breakfast was great, the wine and snacks at 5pm were amazing and the whole experience was nothing short of amazing.

Very nice option, close to the heart of the city. Rooms are small but cozy -- accurately reflected in the website pictures. Dominique and fellow guests were friendly and helpful with suggestions. Would stay there again.

We had a very comfortable, relaxing visit, with great home made food and perks you can't get at a hotel.

the only inconvenience is that they are very strict about dogs on the furniture. our pooch just happens to sleep in bed with us and it was inconvenient for him because it was cold and there were no extra blankets or what not for him to sleep in. otherwise, good stay.

We've stayed here several times, and the breakfasts just keep getting better! Each cottage or room has its own character -- some aren't fancy but they're all clean, comfortably furnished and cozy, and let you feel you're on holiday, not a business trip. The gardens themselves give a spacious, peaceful setting and view from the windows. You could never guess it's only 4 blocks from the freeway!

Friendly reception, wine and cheese, very helpful with reservation of a restauration, very nice and homemade breakfast. Internet was really good - i.e. fast. - But still we found it too expensive, compared to what we could get cheaper at a hotel. Karsten Bonsdorf, Denmark.

Secret Garden was a very good find for my family. Nice family setting -- Clean and comfortable. Afternoon & evening snacks were nice touch. WIll definitely come back.

Great food. Friendly and warm environment. Charming and cozy.

Cottages are very private. Neighborhood is residential and quiet. Prices are lower than most hotels and motels, and you get breakfast, wine and appetizers, and cookies and cider. Breakfasts were different versions of baked egg dishes plus bagels, croissants, and/or cake - OK, but not as good as the B&Bs where I have stayed (mostly in Sonoma county). Bottles of water in the frig to take to your room. TV was small, but I usually don't want/expect a TV at a B&B.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the garden room. It was a great weekend, We would like to stay here again on our next visit to Santa Barbara

Well situated, original lay-out with cottages......somewhat old / well kept but rooms small and not comfortable for a long stay(4 nights) Management/owener very friendly and accommodating/ too expensive for what is offered......perhaps due to the pricing in Santa Barbara in general!!!!

We had an extremely fun and romantic weekend at the Secret Garden. The hosts were fantastic and provided a great breakfast as well as great reccomendations for wine tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley. The location was quiet and while we shared a duplex with another couple we never heard them (likely not the same story from them...). We were a few blocks off State Street and had wonderful walks through the neighborhood to and from dinner each night. I look forward to staying again.

This was a great little place to stay on a recent weekend trip to Santa Barbara. The service had an elegance (the cold water we were offered on our arrival came in a beautiful glass bottle with crystal glasses, for instance). The garden courtyard was a nice setting for breakfast, which was wonderful. The scones were fabulous!

Had a wonderful time. Innkeeper Dominique and assistant Pete were very nice. Great breakfast and 5 pm snacks. Room (Wood Thrush) very comfortable, the private hot tub was relaxing, too.

We stayed in two different rooms and did not like the more expensive one for it had no character and was abit shabby. The second room was colorful and happy room and we liked it alot more. The food is good and the service was good. We do think the Secret Garden has seen better days and is over priced.

The first cottage you stayed in is a cottage with a private deck and jaccuzzi , that is why it is more expensive than the other ones.

I found this on the web and booked it for location as we were going to a wedding in town. I found it charming, very good location to the downtown area, and reasonably priced. Though not large the room was comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was a nice plus. Would definitely stay here again or tell friends about it.

Even though it is located on an urban residential street in Santa Barbara, this B&B had the feel of a home in the South of France. The hosts were lovely and the food was excellent and accommodated our diet needs. Not the right choice if you want resort-type luxury, this inn has a homey, authentic, artistic atmosphere. We just loved it.

Charming and comfortable rooms. Great breakfasts and treats later in the day. Very friendly environment with open and friendly hosts.

Secret Garden Inn and Cottages is centrally located in Santa Barbara. Set well back from the street and surrounded by greenery, it's quiet and charming. The breakfasts were all delicious and generous. I stayed in the main house in the Bobwhite room, which was spacious yet cozy. I loved the clawfoot tub with modern shower fixtures. The toilet could be replaced by a newer style, but it worked. The only thing I didn't care for was the skeleton key. I'm not crazy about them -- I frequently struggled with locking and unlocking the door to my room. Replacing the lock with a regular deadbolt and key would be a plus. Regardless, on my next visit to Santa Barbara, I would stay at Secret Garden again in a heartbeat.

It's always a nice stay in the secret garden. Good food, centrally located. Great for cyclists, Bath street is on the bike trail. Tim

Lovely hidden place. Glad that we found and really enjoyed. On our list to re-visit when in area again. Recommended to our friends.

This was our 3rd visit to the Secret Garden. We enjoy the setting and privacy. This time, however, we were disappointed in the meals. Breakfast consisted of an egg casserole type dish plus assortment of rolls, usually some fruit. We've liked their afternoon wine and cheese affair but now you're limited to a half glass of wine and the same 3 cheese assortment every day (we stayed 4 nights). They provide a nighttime snack, which is a nice offering--apple cider, tea or hot cocoa--and brownies. My only complaint with that is that is was brownies every night (no variety).

As an historical B&B, this is a real gem. The rooms are individually layed out and all have their charm because the design, gardens and the spacing nicely done. People are nice and friendly also it's located in a quieter part of town. Highly recommended for the value.

We decided on the Secret Garden Inn after glowing reviews from previous guests and we were glad we did. We selected the Garden Room but when we arrived, it wasn't completely ready. Dominique graciously offered to upgrade us to a suite but we didn't mind waiting and preferred the Garden Room. It's a lovely room and the most secluded. We loved it! Very romantic, very "french cottage". The bed was comfortable and we loved the natural light from the skylight. The garden was a bit barren but it had its' own charm. Breakfast was delightful although we aren't big fans of quiche. The homemade jams were outstanding! I wish Dominique would sell them to guests. Her homemade banana bread was perfectly moist and flavorful. The evening wine and cheese reception was ok but the brownies and cookies with apple cider and hot chocolate were superb! It was nice to return to our room late at night and still be able to enjoy a sweet treat. In fact, I was so spoiled that when we returned home, I was craving a brownie before bedtime! The Inn is in a great location. We walked to the Santa Barbara Mission and while you aren't within walking distance to lower State Street, you are within walking distance to several shops and cafes. Merci Dominique! We had a lovely weekend and hope to return soon.

This is a cute place with a delightful owner. It is not luxurious but it has a lot of charm and is a good value for the area. Breakfast in the beautiful garden was wonderful.

We pulled up out front of the Secret Garden after a long drive. Our GPS guided us to the front door, where a police car was responding to a nearby issue. I thought, "This doesn't bode well." It was pure coincidence. The Secret Garden Inn and Cottages was our wonderful surprise on this vacation. For what we had paid to stay in a pretty dismal Best Western in Santa Rosa, our room fee allowed to stay in a wonderful compound full of fun and interesting people. Behind the main home are several cottages, one of which we stayed in. Very private, everything you need, in a garden setting. They had wine tasting with cheese when we arrived, which gave us a chance to meet the other travelers. Enjoyed a great night of sleep in the comfortable bed and sat out in the garden and enjoyed an individually prepared breakfast the next morning. The family that runs the home, along with several guests, spoke French and it was if we had been transported to Europe. They had wifi, which allowed me to get some work out of the way and if there was any drawback, it was the squeaky floors. I mean take a step and everyone knows. Call it "character" and our stay was perfect.

Our stay at Secret Garden was very good, one of the best we had during our 15 days trip in Calfornia: rooms were very comfortable, the service very pleasant, and all is made to feel very well. Definitely is very interesting address in Santa Barbara !

Stayed 3 nights with many other members of my family in separate rooms.

I spent only one night at the Secret Garden Inn, but would happily have spent more. Comfortabl, friendly, conveniently located...as Goldilocks would say, it was Just Right. Easily my favorite of all the places I've stayed in SB during my son's 4 years at the University.

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed them. Well-run bed/breakfast. Loved the private outdoor hot tub. As I had high expectations based on a friend's glowing recommendation, I rated the Inn as met my expectations.

We stayed in the Yellow House. We were in Santa Barbara for a wedding and were able to have most of the family stay at the Secret Garden. Having the house for large gatherings worked well. The outdoor area for breakfast and casual get-togethers was great. The staff is friendly and ready to assist. Great location with an easy walk to State Street. Loved our stay and hope to visit again.

It was a wonderful place! The food, hospitality, serenity was great! We definitely would recommend it!!!

Very nice place to relax & unwind, or use as central place for seeing all of Santa Barbara. 2 blocks from downtown, short drive to the wharf. Our room had a hot tub, great for evening relaxation. The breakfast's were outstanding, & there was wine, chesse & sweets in the evenings. We would stay here again.

We rented the largest cottage (2 bedrooms) and had a very pleasant stay. There were nice attentions like the wine and cheese in the afternoon and the dvd's we could use. The garden and cottages are very beautiful and peaceful.

Clean, comfortable, in a quiet residential area but just a 10 min. walk to State St.

We had the comfort and pleasure of staying at the Secret Garden Inn for the weekend mid July. We are a young couple who came to SB for the weekend looking for affordable weekend rates and a good location near State St that did not fit into your standard Best Western mold. We succeeded! We stayed in the Garden Room which was lovely. It was comfortable and had a private gate & yard to enjoy. A warm & friendly staff serving wine & cheese in the evening allowing us to mingle with the fellow guests, and their dogs! A healthy breakfast (veg friendly) was provided on the outdoor patio which was simply picturesque. No more than a 5 min cab ride to the SB Bowl and just a few blocks away from State Street - if you like walking, its a nice stroll through the neighborhood. Fresh baked cookies & private parking were an added bonus. If looking for a relaxing getaway that feels like nowhere in Southern California, come here. We will be back!

My family stayed at the Secret Garden for two nights and had a delightful experience. The place is conveniently located so much so we took a walk to the Mission right after we arrived. The rooms are quiet and pleasant and the breakfasts are superb. All in all a great value in Santa Barbara.

We recently spent four nights at the Secret Garden. Location and cleanliness of room was excellent. The breakfast can be improved by offering a second main entree for those who do not eat eggs or dairy.

Such a pretty place to stay. We had our own private garden with a table, chairs and lounge bench. THe room was beautiful with a comfortable bed, and breakfast was delicious. This is also easy walking distance to State Street, the beach, and Santa Barbara Bowl. We had a wonderful overnight stay.

We stayed one night at this beautiful B & B in a residential neighborhood in Santa Barbara. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, but a bit too close to the kitchen. I would try to get a cottage rather than Bob White or Meadowlark if you like privacy. The breakfast was delicious (especially the home-made jam), and the wine and hors d'oeuvres were nice. The other couples staying there were fun to talk to.

We loved staying at the Secret Garden Inn and Cottages. The accommodation was perfect for us and our dog. The garden patio was magical. Delicious breakfast; cheese and wine at 5 p.m.; and dessert and hot drinks at 7 p.m. I mean, how spoiled can we get?! It's very conveniently located. McConnel's Ice Cream right across the street :) The room was immaculate and also loved their glycerine soap. Cant' wait to return.

Secret Garden Inn and Cottages were an excellent Bed and Breakfast. The innkeeper and her staff were pleasant, friendly, and went above and beyond to make myself and my guest feel at home. Our only issue was that the key to lock our bedroom door was finicky, and it was hard to get our bedroom door locked. Otherwise, it was great! It was also great to have our own bathroom in our room, and such a great breakfast spread.

Our stay was ok...just ok. We had 2 spiders in our bathroom and a toilet that wouldn't drain. The toilet was remedied by us with a plunger after calling the innkeeper late at night to find out if and where there was a plunger...(there was one in the laundry room). The spiders were relocated to the garden. The breakfast consisted of coffee, cut fruit, croissants, and a broccoli quiche that was just way too broccoli. Overall, not a bad experience but not a good one either. This being our first time in a bed-&-breakfast and after looking at rates for other B&B's, this place is really inexpensive so maybe this is about right for the price.

My wife and I both enjoyed our stay at Secret Garden very much. We found Dominique to be very freindly and helpful offering suggestions as what to see and do in Santa Barbara. She put out quite an array of food in the afternoon for her guests which was over the top good. Breakfast was excellent and our room very nice. I'd suggest her B&B to anyone who wants to stay in the Santa Barbara area. Price was a bit much, but after all it's Santa Barbara so you get what you pay for. Excellent!

We had not stayed at a B & B for a long time. The location was perfect. The host was friendly and offered her beautiful home and its family history to the guests. It was a great atmosphere to relax in.

We stayed at the Secret Garden for the first time when we got married 7 years ago and have been staying there once or twice a year since. We relax immediately upon entering the garden and always enjoy our stay.

The food and brownies were dee-licious!! Yum, the breakfast is worth it BUT the room we stayed in was right off the dining room so it was really noisy in the morning, couldn't sleep in. So if you're an early bird then go for it if not spend extra for the cottages in the back.

We found Secret Garden to be everything that it claimed to be on the Airbnb website. The host and staff were helpful, polite and welcoming. We found the accommodation to be clean, comfortable and well-appointed. It was located within easy walking distance of downtown Santa Barbara. The only disappointment we experienced was that the internet would not operate efficiently within our particular cottage although we could access it from the garden area.

We enjoyed our stay but the Meadowlark Room needed cross ventilation. The innkeeper,Peter was very accommodating for my WeightWatchers Food selections for breakfast. Very nice grounds for relaxing.

This is my preferred place to stay in Santa Barbara. It is quiet, restful, out of the way and beautiful. The rooms are very private small cottages or rooms in a main house in a well maintained garden setting. The breakfasts are exceptionally good and French in style.

Excellent choice, well maintained. We were late arriving and they made accomodations for our arrival. Breakfast was tasty and served in the "garden" or the house if you wanted. We enjoyed the morning sitting on the patio. Very relaxing.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was my daughter's graduation weekend and we chose to stay in the Big Yellow House. It was perfect for us. The location is very convenient to everything (campus, downtown, great restaurants). Dominique and her staff were great.

The Secret Garden is a lovely spot for a quiet getaway in Santa Barbara. It is conveniently located off of the freeway, close to downtown shops, is quiet, clean, and the staff are friendly. The food and morning coffee are excellent. It reminded me of being in a B & B in Europe, or Canada.

Great service. All the extras were perfect: breakfast in the morning, wine and cheese at 5pm, and brownies and hot chocolate for dessert!

We arrived earlier than expected and were greeted by the owner, she was great to deal with and made us feel welcome, the room was a great size for 2 people, the location is great, a short drive to the mission or the wharf, great parking, breakfast was delicious and eating in the garden area was a great way to start the day, afternoon wine was great, and evening brownie's were a tasty surprise, overall we loved it, and I'm sure we will return soon

The property location is great. It is within walking distance to the strip. The place itself was very clean and well maintained. What you would expect out a bed and breakfast. Great value!

A quite cottage room, in a garden setting with outstanding "french breakfast" served in the garden. Guests provided with wine and cheese in the afternoon. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We stayed in the Kingfisher room, which was done in a lovely fashion but incredibly small for the price we paid. Aside from that, we loved our stay. Enjoyed the private jacuzzi and the quiet surroundings. The food was delicious and unique which gave breakfast a special touch, and the wine and cheese in the evening was a nice snack to start the night off with. We enjoyed our two nights here, but I think I would look for something a bit less expensive next time.

All the staff was great! I didn't know what to expect never having stay'd at a B&B before, but everything was nice. No issues.. Thanks again! Also thanks for finding my ring and calling me that you had it!

We had a great weekend with our little Maltese in the Garden Room. The garden itself was a treat. Secluded and quiet and ideal for a dog to play in. The breakfasts were excellent, the wine/cheese superb, and the late night hot cider and brownies delicious. The cottage was spacious, clean and peaceful. Good shower and comfortable bed. Good value when the breakfast and other extras are considered. Dominique and her staff were the perfect hosts. Have already recommended to other friends.

Secret Garden was quiet spot in downtown Santa Barbara neighborhood. Very freindly and helpful staff. Food was good. Short walk to State Street.

My husband and I stayed at Secret Garden this past weekend. The accommodations were very nice. The owner and staff were helpful and welcoming in every way. The location is convenient and the room was quiet. We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

The grounds were beautiful and it was a very serene and peaceful experience. Dominique's breakfast set up was very lovely, providing a more intimate home style setting. The croissants were delicious. The price was a bit exorbitant overall considering the value of what is actually being provided for services and amenities.

This a a quaint hidden gem in the middle of Santa Barbara. Dominque is a great hostess. The breakfast was great, as was the wine and cheese in the late afternoon. Unfortunately we missed the late evening's brownies and hot drinks, but i'm sure they were good too. The rooms are basic, kind of like staying at grandma's house, but very clean and homey. We were upgraded to a duplex cottage, which was good and bad, becaues our only complaint, with our stay is that the rooms are not very soundproof. The first night no one was in the other duplex room, but the 2nd morning we were awaken by the other duplex's water running in the sink and shower. It was quite loud. We were also awaken by birds at daybreak, which if you are an early riser would be great, but we heard an obnoxious Mockingbird, and ironically we stayed in the " Mockingbird" room. (all rooms are bird names). If you stay in a stand olone cottage noise would be a lesser issue. Overall though we enjoyed our stay, it was only 3 blocks form our son's apartment, and only a block from McConnel's yogurt and ice cream, a must visit for a great dessert. We would stay here again, thanks.

We had a very nice stay in Secret Garden. Dominique was very helpful for our reservation, and very welcoming upon arrival. She gave us a good advise for dinner. Our two rooms were comfortable, with all amenities. We could take the breakfast in the beautiful garden and had definitely a good time there !

I could not have been more comfortable.....the gardens are beautiful with a serene view of the mountains while sitting on the back patio. The main house where I stayed was quaint, cozy and welcoming. It felt like home. The place is charming. I will return..............kathy g

This b&b is arranged as small cottages on the property with the main house. The privacy is charming, but the room was a bit rustic. Our heat did not work and the weather was surprisingly cool so we wer a bit uncomfortable. The clutter of art and antiques in the main house was interesting, but not especially welcoming. The best part of the stay was the amazing breakfasts- fabulous fresh croissants, scones, and muffins along with an intestine gourmet quiche each day.

What a delightful surprise the Secret Garden Inn and Cottages are! Located in a quiet neighborhood, this quiet oasis is a wonderful escape from the bustle. We stayed in one of their beautiful cottages and had one of the best nights' sleep away from home I can remember. The welcome was warm, our cottage totally charming and comfortable and the breakfast omelet which was cooked to order, was very tasty. We're coming back in May!

This charming inn is a quiet and peaceful place to stay when visiting Santa Barbara. It has a lovely garden and main house, but the cottages are my favorite. Loved that our room had a hot tub and private patio! Comfortable rooms, nicely decorated. An added bonus were the interesting guests we met at breakfast each day. Can be a little pricey, but it's worth it.

We stayed four nights at Secret Garden and enjoyed a restful break from everyday life. Dominique served delicious food and was a gracious hostess. The location was walking distance from downtown in a quiet and lovely place. We will go back if we go to Santa Barbara in the future.

We stayed here with 2 adults, 2 children and a dog. Stayed in the Nightingale cottage. It is a lovely cottage and I think 5 star for a B&B. We overlooked a gorgeous garden. Loved Santa Barbara and the B&B is only a couple of streets from the main shopping/restaurant area so very well located. Dominique served us an outstanding breakfast the next morning in the sunny courtyard. We couldn't have asked for anything better. Highly recommend.

The Inn of the Secret Garden is a charming retreat from the bustle of State Street, and Dominique's hospitality is superb. The rooms are charming, comfortable, and spotlessly clean--no TVs, so the only sounds we heard were birdsong in the morning. Dominique went above and beyond, even managing to accommodate our last minute addition of a third person. The free parking is a nice bonus. We can't wait to come back!

My husband has messed up my birthday the past several years. In an effort to redeem himself, he planned a surprise trip (all by himself) to Santa Barbara - a place I had been wanting to visit. Being a cost-effective couple, he wanted to find a place that was be comfortable without being costly. After researching various places online, he settled on The Secret Garden. I could tell as we pulled up that he was nervous. Booking site-unseen while trying to make up for forgotten birthdays can be stressful. But as we approached the front entrance, he was able to relax. The Secret Garden was exactly what he was hoping it would be. The rooms are small and cozy. Our room had a TV with a DVD player in it and was perfect for watching movies on the one rainy night we were there. The bed was comfortable (and I am eight months pregnant). The room was clean and, for the most part, quiet. The main house is beautiful. And breakfast was delicious both mornings. We also enjoyed the wine and cheese hour as well as the brownies that were waiting every evening as a goodnight treat. We loved the location. Close enough to walk to the action on State Street, yet far enough removed that we honestly felt like we were in a little "secret" place. If there was any complaint it would be that we could hear the people in the room next to us from time to time -- however, that is true MOST places you stay. In the end, we were sad to leave but are excited that now, anytime we want to travel to beautiful Santa Barbara, we have a place where we a comfortable - both in the rooms and in the price. My husband said that the images and reviews online didn't do the place justice -- so I hope, if you are considering booking here, this review is helpful and that you enjoy it as much as we did.

The rooms were neat & clean. Our hostess was superb.

We stayed 2 nights and wish we could have stayed a week. The Wood Thrush room was great. Especially liked the private deck with a hot tub. Breakfasts was wonderful! the homemade scones and other baked goods were amazing! Dominique made our stay memorable and we will be back.

The hospitality was great, our favorite part was that you can bring your pets if you get one of the cottages with private gardens. They gave us an extra sheet for the bed, in case you werent able to keep the dogs off. We don't spend too much time in our rooms when we travel, but it was a great place to come back to after a long day of hiking or going to the dog beach!

One of the nice things about B&B's is the breakfast included in the deal. I don't remember ever seeing such a disgusting looking breakfast. The inkeeper (owner) and her kitchen assistant couldn't even agree on what it was. One called the dish a quiche, the other a casserole. I called it a plate of awfulness. Also, the area rug in the room had seen better days. I'm all for quaint little places, but quaint should not equate to not maintaining the place. The door stuck to the frame and could barely be closed. Secret Garden needs a little upgrading!

Our cottage was comfortable, we got the feeling that money was tight by the amenities in the room, the main house was very cluttered and the food was good but very haphazard in presentation and not presented in an appetizing manner, very different from any other B and B we have visited. Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. The wine and appetizers in the afternoon were good but again presented in a very casual way. We would not go back to this one.

The Secret Garden will not be a secret for very much longer given its value and outstanding service. Everything from the condition of the room, convenient walking distance from State St. and the Santa Barbara Mission, and the superb breakfast make this a one of a kind experience. The little touches of having snacks available for late check-in as well as motion-sensor lighting that light your path to your cottage make it even better. Dominique was wonderful and added a wonderful personality to the experience. My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary here and we could not have been more pleased. It was good, not great. I stayed Kingfisher, the bed takes up most of the room but a big bathroom and mini fridge. It had a large wood deck with a nice sized hot tub, so that was definitely the highlight. I thought the food was good, not something I would cook or order on my own but still delicious.

I liked the room and the grounds. I was very content with the entire experience and most of all I could bring my dog which is exactly what I was looking for.

The Breakfast was exquisite. The hospitality is outstanding. Along the lines of a vegetarian menu, but the food was incredible. Almost makes me want to become a vegetarian. The room was immaculate. The sounds from the outside room were audible, although this is expected in a residence such as this. I would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a great place to rest and have one of the best breakfasts you can imagine.

I visited the Secret Garden Inn and Cottages in winter with rain. The garden looked pretty and would certainly be gorgeous in spring and summer. The breakfast was delicious however it had very few options or variety and did not include fresh fruit. From the website I was expecting a number of choices of French pastries and there were only croissants available each morning. Overall it was great value for money, the room was very clean and the feel was more rustic than antique but very comfortable and the staff were kind and friendly. I highly recommend the Secret Garden Inn and Cottages.

A very nice experience!Moreover it is a pet friendly place and I had also the possibility to bring my cat. I would suggest anyone to stay in this bed and breakfast.

We make an annual trek to Santa Barbara and The Secret Garden Inn for our anniversary. It is uniformly a marvelous, romantic experience.

My wife and I always have a wonderful and romantic stay at the Secret Garden. Dominique is the best, and does everything to make you feel special and pampered to the max.

Very nice quaint little place. Rooms were small, I was by myself so it was fine, but with another person it would have been very crowded. I tend to eat early so the 8:30 to 10:00 breakfast was a bit inconvienient. Dogs were welcome and I never heard any barking or anything. I would go back if I could eat earlier!

Stayed in 1/2 of a cottage and it was lovely. Great hot shower, fluffy towels, breakfast buffet of unusual delights, wine and cheese in evening and very friendly staff. Quiet and green, a nice escape. A special treat for francophones/philes.

The Mockingbird Room was comfortable and pleasant. The bed was very comfortable. The heater worked well but made a buzzing noise all night. Breakfast in the morning was convenient in the dining area with the variety of foods to choose from. Looking forward to coming back!

Outstanding food !!!! Rooms are older and could use refreshing - quaint doesn't work here. It was cold during our stay and the room took forever to get warm. It is expensive for what you get.

Wonderful breakfast, charming concept but nothing has changed in the decade since we first stayed. It is time to repair creaky floors, replace worn furnishings, add door knobs, and install some soundproofing between cottages so that one isn’t startled awake when the neighbor showeres at 0600!

This is a pleasant B&B in a good Santa Barbara location. We had the Garden room, which has a great private yard to enjoy the evening snacks they provide or just read a book in the sun. The room did the trick -- cute, but not fancy, with an ok for a night or two bed. The food was tasty with homemade baked goods and hummus. The staff was adequate -- not warm and fuzzy, but that wasn't necessary. We would give it more stars for value if it were $25 or $50 bucks less per night.

Really enjoyed our stay in one of the cottages. We sat outside in the garden with our bottle of wine - very private. The owner was very gracious as well as her staff. I even made the reservation on the wrong day of the week and she let me change it without a charge. Our cottage had a spa so we wheeled the TV over and watched the Giants beat the Phillies from out hot tub on the deck!!!

Nice quiet neighborhood. Beautiful landscaping. The walls were very thin so you could hear everything. The breakfast was great. Good location for walking to downtown Santa Barbara.

My wife and I just got back from SB, staying at The Secret Garden for three days. We found this B&B from the Internet by its pics and some of the reviews. Everything that you've read and heard about this eloquent rustic French garden is true and MORE! We fell in love with its charm, location (near everything including D/T State street), food, and the hospitality of Madam Dominique Hannaux and her assistant. I still can smell the aroma of the morning chocolate croissants, afternoon wine and the variety of cheese presented every evening. Thank you for a wonderful time and we will back soon.

Dominique is a perfect host. She paid attention to each and every request and gave personal service that was better than I've had in other B&B's. The garden setting for breakfast was so peaceful and the food delectable. The afternoon wine and cheese was a special touch.

The photos and writeups on the Secret Garden are true... We found Dominque and her staff to be delightful. I had a chance to "check out the other rooms" as we definately want to return and could very well bring our extended family. The Inn and cottages are in very close walking distance to State Street. Oh! and offstreet parking was a real plus. Thank you for a lovely stay.

My husband and I traveled with our dog to S. Barbara for our wedding anniversary. The Inn was wonderful, and the service and staff and owner were all fabulous. Loved it!

we were there this past weekend and had a wonderful time.the secret garden was beautiful,great food and nice room.the service was unbeatable.the owner was warm.everybody there was so welcoming.especially a young man innkeeper there was really nice and helpful,from the moment we got there he was helping us with the luggages to the cottages and brought us cold water bottle,explained the sight and route how and where to go,recommended us the great restaurant had a wonderful dinner.the next morning he greeted us and introduced us the fabulous breakfast,and kept serving us coffee and getting the plates after we were done,and helped us with the map where to go shopping specifically.i think this is the best service we have ever had after having been to so many bed and breakfast.and every inn should have a great innkeeper like that to make everyone's staying total satisfying.even i can't remember his name,but i have to say thank you.you did a great job!and we'll definitely come back.

Beautiful and relaxing grounds. Dominique was very friendly and helpful. As others have said the walls are very thin and you can here your neighbors. Some breakfast items were excellent and other items were ok. Overall the place was very relaxing and quiet.

Very peaceful - just the getaway we needed. Dominique and her staff are very nice and do so much to make guests feel welcome and comfy! We will be back!

We got away from hustle and bustle of work, the kids, the city and our everyday routine. We experienced the charm, the food, the worldly conversations and each other... as if for the first time.

We had a wonderful experience. Quaint, friendly, peaceful quality.

Friendly, healthy provided foods, setting of small cottages, quaint furniture making it romantic. Fun meeting out of the country guests.

Loved the quiet, relaxed atmosphere in what seemed to be the heart of town. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We loved the wine and cheese hour and the breakfast was very well prepared. We would definitely recommend Secret Garden to anyone.

We stayed in the Bobwhite room, just off the main dining room. We were concerned about noise but it was quiet. The inn is very clean. Dominique is a delightful hostess. The breakfasts, wine and cheese receptions and brownies and tea are good.

As a teacher, I am limited to when I can vacation. In a last ditch effort to actually vacation, I searched the web and found The Secret Garden. I could count the days until I arrived. I took my dog with me. The day came and we arrived. It was a lovely place. We were in the Garden cottage. At first, I thought it was a bit small. In the end it was just right. Hermione and I enjoyed our time. The food was good and the grounds lovely. The staff was welcoming. I love the tradition of the journals in the cottage to share with others about your visit. I will visit another B&B in the furture.

Pretty little cottages just off the beaten track enough to be quiet. Wonderful breakfast, friendly staff, some cabins dog-friendly and ash hot tubs. Lovely grounds. Easy access to all Santa Barbara has to offer.

My wife and I enjoy spending time in Santa Barbara as often as possible. There is never a question as to where we'll stay. Dominique and her staff always make our stay wonderful! We just celebrated our 40th Anniv. there! It was great!

My wife and I spent the weekend at the Secret Garden Inn to celebrate her birthday and had an wonderful time. Dominique, the inn keeper, and her engaging staff, do a great job of making you feel at home, and the morning breakfast in the garden was fantastic. If you're a bird lover, you'll enjoy hummingbirds, mockingbirds, jays, warblers, and acorn woodpeckers as you sip your coffee in the sunlight. We enjoyed our private spa and the cozy accommodations, and left the car in the parking lot and walked everywhere we wanted to go in Santa Barbara. If you're looking for a low-key, cozy, friendly, warm, and relaxing get-away, this is your place. We'll definitely be back again and again.

Secret Garden B&B in Santa Barbara should not be kept a secret from California travelers. It's quaint, cozy, private and full of charm. It's a must do!

The cottage was spacious, clean, and well maintained. The garden area and parking were great. The wine and cheese in the evening was plentiful. The proprietor/hostess was knowlegeable and friendly. The breakfast was good, but some of the quiche preparations were a little runny due to too large of cooking/serving dish. I will return for another anniversary.

The cottages set in the garden are a world apart. Dominique's hospitality transports you to the French countryside. Both evening apertif and hearty breakfast will beckon you to return again and again.

This B&B is a delightful place to stay. the hostess is charming and cooks an excellent breakfast -- we're going to try some of her recipes. Our cottage was pretty and quiet and we breakfasted and had wine and cheese in the garden.

The Secret Garden Inn was a delightful and beautiful location. The French breakfast was delicious and the location was perfect.

Our room was very nice and clean, but the maid service left a half-full bottle of shampoo in the bathroom and never replaced it during our 3-night stay. We love the wine hour and home-made hot breakfast.

Domingue was delightful and helpful. Enjoyed the ambience.

Gorgeous garden views out of every window! Awoke to bird songs every morning. Cozy, friendly, relaxed country French atmosphere. Lovely touches like glass bottles and cold water always available.

The little cottages at Secret Garden take me back to my childhood. This is a very cozy and quiet inn. Food great, and hot tub for private use is a bonus!

My husband and I stayed here for our 8th year anniversary. Dominique was very helpful with restaurant suggestions and places to see. The breakfasts were outstanding, we particularly enjoyed the french toast and claoufuti both were delicious! What impressed us the most was Dominique's warmth and genuine interest in our being comfortable, a very lovely lady. Despite inclement weather we were able to enjoy the outside patio during dry spells, it felt secluded and relaxing. It was very nice to have private parking off the street too. We will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family. This is a great B&B with French flair.

very cozy- great place to relax- access to downtown Santa Barbara, yet private.

My husband and I stayed in the tiny Kingfisher room and it was absolutely wonderful. The room is very small, but the weather was gorgeous, so we kept the french doors to the private, jacuzzied patio open all day. The food was absolutely amazing and Dominique was extremely helpful and pleasant.

The Inn is very pleasant but perhaps the decor is a little tired. None the less a pleasant experience. The food offerings, breakfast, wine and cheese, cookies and hot cider were very nice. The Inn Keeper and all of the staff were very helpful and friendly. I have been there more than once and would go back.

We loved our day. Friendly cottage with private courtyard. The nighttime snacks and home-cooked gourmet breakfast make this place feel just like home. We will be back! ps. very comfy beds!
