The innkeepers were friendly and were eager to share history of the property.

Fascinating Home!

Our stay there was a wonderful experience. We had the Angle Porch room; it was very private and the fireplace made it very romantic. Everything was spotless, including the bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and the owners were very gracious and friendly and will tell you all about the house - it's worth hearing about! The original builder-owner was a well-known architect. The house was built in 1891 and is almost entirely untouched since then - it's beautiful. You are served breakfast at the original dining room table where Julia Morgan sat with Mr. Coxhead many a time! The downtown district is nearby and there are lots of great places to eat. We highly recommend the Clay Pot - great Indian food.

A Wonderful Getaway!

My husband and I needed a relaxing getaway! The Coxhead Bed and Breakfast was the perfect place. The innkeepers were wonderful hosts. The house was extremely clean! The breakfast was delicious. It is truly a historical monument that you don't want to miss seeing!

An Oasis in San Mateo

I recently I had to make an emergency trip to San Mateo to visit a sick relative. I stayed two nights at the Coxhead House.I found the inkeepers to be gracious hosts. They cheerfully accomodated my Vegan diet. The breakfast ws delicious. My room was immaculate.

A ripp off!

The hospitality of the owners was very sparse. The breakfast was awful and the coffee was barley drinkable. The house appeared to be a bit worn down, and in need of some fresh paint and repairs. The yard was messy and and uninviting. Our room was dusty and appeared somewhat neglected. Also, the bathroom in our room was filled with faded towels, rug and shower curtain. Oh, and the toilet would not flush properly. I do not recommend!
