The White Swan Inn is a splendid tribute to the luxury hotels of England. Rich floral carpets, comfortable furniture covered with elegant fabrics and enchanting English art and collectibles set the tone. With 26 guestrooms and 30 fireplaces the inn exudes warmth and serenity in the midst of a busy city. The inn is located just up the hill from Union Square and Chinatown and less than two blocks from our famous cable cars – within walking distance to the best restaurants and theaters.

We come from Paris, France and It was our 2nd time in San Francisco. First time we stayed in a hotel at the Wharf but this year prices got too expensive so we searched for a new place to stay. I can assure that it was even better because The White Swann is perfectly located, less than 5 minutes walking distance of downtown San Francisco. At our arrival, we were a little bit disappointed by the size of the hall which is very small, than we took the beautiful old elevator to our room, a deluxe king on the 5th floor and we were very surprised: the room was really big and clear with big windows, beautifully furnished, very old England style. The bed was very comfortable and we had a fire place and a little refrigerator refilled every day with free soft drinks and water. Plasma TV. Everything was neat and clean despite of the bathtub that was a little bit old but it didn’t matter, everything else was perfect. We loved this hotel and we certainly go back again and recommend it

Breakfast and wine w/appetizers are the best anywhere! Common room is most comfortable and inviting 24/7, esp. welcome for jet lagged travellers. Front desk and bellman service is top notch, too.

I have stayed here twice. The rooms are large and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to answer my questions. If you don't mind walking a few hilly blocks, Chinatown and Union Square are a short walk away and the rest of San Francisco is easily accessible by convenient, public tranportation.

After a hectic day of airline travel, it was an absolute delight to unwind by the fire with complimentary wine and light food. Kevin at the front desk went out of his way to make my stay pleasant--his personality matches the comfort of the Inn. Free in-room wifi, a scrumptious breakfast, free sodas and bottled water--my travel was for business but White Swan was much more ameniable to my needs than any hotel chains with their over-priced business centers! Enjoy this jewel.
