The Red Vic B&B is more than just a historic hotel on world-famous Haight/Ashbury Street near Golden Gate Park. It's a peaceful world travelers hotel; a cozy, colorful, friendly gathering place for people, ideals and ideas for a better world. We prefer personal relationships over TV, reasonable prices over maximum profits. We're a business founded on love and dedicated to doing our utmost for a just and sustainable world. Sami has designed each guest room to inspire, amuse, relax or enliven you. Each room is a plea for you to actively do something to care for our world.

I consider many parts of our beautiful planet home. All my life I have been studying the effects and potentials of tourism in many cultures, from Fiji and the Polynesian islands to Bali, Australia, Germany, Denmark, and much of Europe and north Africa. My goal is, with your help, to offer a brave new alternative to corporate tourism.

Driving from east - Cross the bridge, take 101S, exit Golden Gate Bridge 101N, then take the Octavia/Fell Street exit. After crosssing Market St., go over 3 traffic lights, make left turn on Fell Street. Go straight for 1 miles then make a left turn on Masonic, then a right turn on Haight St. Loading zone at door. Driving from north - Cross Golden Gate bridge hwy 1. Left on Fulton at Golden Gate Park (To turn L on Fulton, take R at Cabrillo, immediate L, L again on Fulton.) Right on Stanyan, left on Haight. 2 blocks to 1665. Loading zone at door.

The Red Victorian was very east to get to by public transit and is right in the heart of the Haight. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The RV is quirky and fun but still comfortable and clean. Loved sitting in the cafe and talking with other guests while enjoying my delicious breakfast!

I loved this place for the experience it provided (and it's excellent price in a centrally located area). The rooms and bathrooms were all worth seeing and the old building was overall just a really interesting thing to explore. I think people should be aware of what they're getting into when they stay here. If you want a television and immaculate carpets, this is not the place for you. However, if you have a sincere interest in the Haight area and it's history, you will not be disappointed. I would recommend this place primarily to people who have either done psychedelic drugs or who appreciate people who have and the things they make ;)

We found the Red Vic B&B to be a friendly, clean and interesting place to stay. The Haight is very interesting and brings back the feeling of the 60's in San Francisco. If you are looking for a clean and reasonable stay in San Francisco that is very close to Golden Gate Park, the Red Vic is for you.
