The Monte Cristo is a quirky place, with some unusual room characteristics. The innkeepers do a great job with the breakfast and service, so it's a very good value for someone who is spending time in San Francisco.

If you don't mind a non-standard hotel room/spartan accomodations, this place is great. Good location, a block from the thoroughfare so not noisy. No complaints really. The bed we got was not terribly comfortable, but it was passable, and the door... read more

Innkeeper Response

The Monte Cristo is now under new management, and we have just installed new Simmons beds. And for the first time in the history of the hotel, we have Wifi :-) The hotel was built in 1875 and it still has many of the original mortise locksets.
