We are a young couple in town for the Outside Lands Festival. My b/f and I were trying to decide btwn the Mariott, a hostel, or a B&B; ultimately deciding to go for what looked like the more "unique" experience :) We found the Inn on Castro and booked the double-bed room on the 2nd floor. The room had an amazing view, the carpets were soooo plush, our pillows were super soft, everything was spotless clean, AND there was a flask of brandy in our room! The host, Jan, went above and beyond w/ his friendly smile, assistance in navigating and picking out places to see/eat/etc, and especially his breakfasts. Jan serves the best breakfast in San Fran!!! He boasts a state-of-the-art espresso machine, makes home-made breads/muffins every morning, serves a huge bowl of fresh fruits, organic granolas, various egg dishes whipped up from scratch, and amazing pancakes/waffles/french toast..... WOW, what a place. We absolutely loved it there and will definitely return again!

With only 5 rooms in a Victorian house, it really did feel like I was staying someone's home. Jan the landlord was very helpful and sociable. Literally one minute's walk from Castro! My room was spacious and light with great views. Thank you, will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here in January 2011, and will definitely stay here again. The place was clean and charming and well-located. The proprietor, Jan, could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts were over-the-top, and served family-style so you could chat with other guests if you wanted to do so. This is a wonderful place, which we hope stays in business a long, long time.
