Secluded cottage with beautiful patio in fun, eclectic neighborhood just outside downtown San Diego. Not only is the small cottage fun and comfortable, the attention to detail, wonderful breakfast and helpful tourist advice from the hostess, Paisley, is a great added benefit. Be sure to make time to look through the organized neighborhood listings compiled by the hostess to find great off-the-beaten-path cafes and shops around town. This cottage made for such a more interesting visit to San Diego than the typical convention hotel options. One word of advice, the neighborhood is definitely more accessible with a car.

We really enjoyed our weekend at Vintage Sol. North Park fun as well. Decorations, antiques and in room amenities were excellent. The service and breakfasts were spectacular.

My husband and I stayed at Vintage Sol for 3 nights. This was truly one of the best parts of our trip. We had such a delightful time there. The place is so charming and private. It was so convenient, and we loved the room. The bed is absolutely heavenly! We were honestly sad to leave it. And the food was just outstanding! I am an avid cook and I have to say, Paisley's food was spot-on. She even had the room stocked with snacks and drinks. Finally, Paisley herself is so kind. She was always helpful and accommodating, and has fantastic recommendations. We debated between Vintage Sol vs. a 4- or 5-star hotel, and we are SO glad we chose to stay here!

This little gem sits on a quiet residential street in the North park area. Close to everything but a unique escape. The grounds are stunning - modern combined with vintage - very well maintained and very eclectic. The casita is compact but has everything you need . Gourmet breakfasts were divine served in a private, breath taking courtyard. Hosts are lovely, accomodating and very helpful offering a full library of 'what to do' in the area and providing tips on local events. Truly a little bit of heaven!

Location - perfect. Room - perfect. Innkeeper - perfect. Breakfast - perfect. We have stayed at numerous B&B's in the US & Europe. Vintage Sol is cozy, eclectic, magical and clean! Parsley (the Innkeeper) is a warm wonderful woman and offers a wealth of information about San Diego and the surrounding areas and provides EXACT directions to any location we inquired about.

Fun, festive and perfect. The price charged doesn't do this B&B justice. Breakfast is fresh and gourmet level. Also, she has snacks & will help you find anything in San Diego.

We've traveled through California for three weeks and this was the best place we've stayed in!! It was perfect and lovely decorated. Paisley was really sweet and she took good care of us. She had a lot of information about where to go in San Diego. The room was perfect, we even had a dvd in the room with the newest DVDs. And I can't even describe how good the breakfast was, it was delicious. When we left Paisley gave me flower seeds of the California Poppies. I will plant them next year! Thank you so much Paisley, we will recommend you to all of our friends and family in the Netherlands!

My husband and I just got back from our annual trip out west and while in San Diego stayed at the Vintage Sol. We totally fell in love with the place. Private studio area and incredible outside courtyard that was all ours during our visit! Paisley prepared us margaritas in the courtyard and lit candles all over one evening for us, creating such a romantic and fun happy hour for my husband and I. Paisley is very attentive and is always willing to provide ideas on what to do while staying in San Diego. We love Vintage Sol and will definitely be back to visit again! And, don't want to forget to mention that the breakfasts Paisley cooks are absolutely the best we have had while staying at a B & B. We are so happy we stayed there. Wonderful place! Looking forward to going back :)

Vintage Sol in the North Park area of San Diego is a perfect getaway for one or two people. This is a very private retreat and you stay in a clean, fully (and I mean fully!) equipped cottage plus the courtyard for your exclusive use, lush with vegetation bearing fruit, where you can have your breakfast or just lounge in the sun with the 4 finches that live in a large cage. My wife and I stayed there for two days and it was an atmospheric escape - there are countless artistic treasures and treats to discover in the cottage and in the courtyard. The owner, Paisley, knows what it means to be a B&B host - her thoughtfulness and attention to detail is appreciated - she goes above and beyond what we would expect at a B&B and we have been at many of them over the years. Breakfast is lovingly made and presented - delicious and huge - it will probably be your largest meal of the day. We added the Corozon romantic package - it was very a special and abundant surprise which I highly recommend for couples! I definitely recommend a stay there, and would gladly visit again.

We came from Paris, France and I was in search of a cute B&B with an original atmosphere in San Diego. i found out Vintage Sol and my dreams came true. I love mexican style and the little house in the garden, with all the antiquities and mexican pieces of furniture didn't deceive me. Our hostess was wonderful and her coocking is outstanding. Every detail makes you feel at home and the mexican hot chocolate is unforgettable... Thank you a lot !

The most unique B and B I have stayed at. Very private, gourmet breakfast that is served with love, your own great little kitchen, and an artsy decor that makes you not even want to leave the room . But, propriator Paisley provides you with so much info on area attractions in these great binders, and it is centrally located to eveytihng ,that you will be out and about. As a single female traveler I felt very safe walking the neighborhood at night and taking in the shops and cafes of North Park. One limitation for some might be that there is only a shower, not a bath. I will definately return. It will seem like visiting family !

If you're traveling to a new area and don't have anyone to rely on to give you recommendations about where to stay, where to eat, or what to do and you're left to search out a place on the internet or in a travel book, you still don't know for sure what you're going to get. I stayed at Vintage Sol for 5 night in late October 2008. Bummer for me that I was there at the end of October (past growing season for some of the garden's fruits and vegetables which Paisley offered to let me try), but the weather was still really warm so that I could sit out in the private garden area and have a drink at night. Paisley (the owner) was gracious, accommodating and full of recommendations without being intrusive. Breakfast was extremely tasty. The bed, sheets and pillows were really comfortable (the bed is full-sized to fit into the living space). The space clean. The neighborhood was quiet with restaurants and the highway nearby. The website for Vintage Sol (www.vintagesol.com) has great photos of the cottage and garden, provides photos of some breakfast options (the food alone makes it absolutely worth staying there) and has many links to restaurants, history and neighborhood goings-on. The gardens I think are more filled-in now than when the website photos were taken making the area feel more rich, cozy and relaxing. A cat is mentioned on the website but it is kept out of the cottage (yay for me as I have allergies). There were some kitchen amenities available in the cottage (refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker). When I was there, I had the option of using the gas grill (located in the private garden/patio area) with some limitations (ask....). If I can swing another trip to San Diego , I will definitely check here first for availability. Thank you, Paisley ....!

We were overwhelmed with the detail, beauty, and charming luxury of this B&B. Excellent execution of every detail and personal touch. Gourmet meals to die for. Served up in our very own slice of Heaven. Simply the best!!

Vintage Sol is a hidden gem in a San Diego neighborhood. It is like staying in a small, fantastic, amazing antique shop. Both the room and the courtyard that houses it are a peaceful delight. And the proprietress is lovely and cordial. I don't want to praise this oasis too much because I want it to be available whenever I go to San Diego!

This place is exquisite, like walking into a Frida Kahlo painting, with gorgeous art & funky decor everywhere. My husband & I stayed there for our little honeymoon, and the owners were wonderful & extremely accommodating. It's not the biggest place, but it's the perfect size for 2 people looking to escape. Every morning we were woken up with fabulous home-cooked gourmet breakfasts, and on our last nite there we arrived to a candle-lit courtyard with drinks & dessert & a flower petal path. This place is a perfect little oasis, and we shall be returning positively.

We are over the moon about Vintage Sol! My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here this past weekend and were more than thrilled. Paisley really knows how to make her guests feel welcomed. Taking care to stock a small kitchenette with fruits, juices and snacks to nosh on. The courtyard and room have a light airy feel, whimsy at every turn. Paisley's meals are a treat not to be missed! We especially enjoyed the care she takes in the presentation of each plate. Her restaurant recommendations were spot on. We plan on a return visit and highly recommend Vintage Sol. Thanks for making our stay outstanding Paisley!

My fiance and I had the pleasure of staying at Vintage Sol this past Memorial Day weekend. We were met with the quaintest, artsy, room with a feel that we were in Mexico. Paisley decorated the room with such a cozy feel, yet it had such a fun spin with all of the knick-nacks that she has made. Paisley was such a warm, helpful hostess. The day it rained, she left us an umbrella and hot cocoa. When we returned to the room, cans of cold soda awaited us. The breakfast that she made each day were distinct and delicious with a Mexican flare that both of us enjoyed. All of her helpful suggestions and albums of places to see while in San Diego were much appreciated. Her B&B made us want to continue exploring all that B&B have to offer out there. However, I can truly and honestly state that her B&B surpassed all the others I have stayed at. Her warmth, hospitality, great cooking, and cozy/fun accommodations without a doubt make this a B&B experience that will surpass all others. Thank you so much Paisley. We can not wait to stay again! I rarely ever write reviews but my wife and I and our 11 month old daughter, Sophia, had such a wonderful time staying in San Diego at Vintage Sol that I had to talk it up!! When we arrived after a long six hour flight (with baby in tow) we found lit candles and fresh baked cookies and two glasses of lemonade waiting for us. Suffice it to say that Paisley had us at hello: ) The rest of our 5 day stay was more of the same in terms of level of encouragement. From the thoughtfulness that went into the decorations of our room to the everyday events-to-see lists Paisley would drop off with breakfast or how about Paisley providing for us a pack-and-play so we didn't have to lug one onto the plain with us!! Do I need to mention the breakfast? Let me just say that the breakfasts were so elaborate and deep down tasty and seemingly expensive to create that I wondered if our hostess would actually be making any money on our visit. If you enjoy the kind of attention to detail and personal attention you get at 5 star hotels and restaurants but you are maybe not able to afford 5 nights at the Ritz than Vintage Sol is for you! Scratch that--even if you can afford the Ritz stay at Vintage Sol!

We stayed for 4 nights and had a fabulous time. Love the decor of the room and the patio. It is close to great restaurants in a nice local neighborhood. We attended a conference in town and it is only a short drive to the dt convention center. Paisley was a fabulous and accommodating host and we will definitely return for our next san diego trip.

We stayed at Vintage Sol last weekend and had a simply amazing time. Paisley was so warm and welcoming, and the guest house was very intimate and whimsically decorated. The breakfasts were delicious and we were even able to pick fresh loquats from the garden. On our last night she surprised us with a candlelit courtyard and margaritas; it was the perfect end to the perfect vacation. We will definitely be coming back!

I had the pleasure of staying at Vintage Sol last week. The proprieters were extremely warm and friendly upon my arrival. The room was quaint and perfectly cozy-filled with unique and thoughful curios. The bed was the best part. So soft and lush! I have to rate Vintage Sol in my top 3 places I have stayed over the years! I will definitely be back and highly recommend it!

Great experience! Room was cozy, comfortable and quiet. And, yes, the breakfasts were INCREDIBLE! Paisley's hospitality, friendliness and recommended activities were wonderful. The private garden courtyard and Latin decor are charming, colorful and unique. A one-of-a-kind experience!

Stayed two comfortable nights and were extremely happy with our time spent there. Romantic and cozy, and one of the more affordable places we found while searching for bed and breakfasts in the area. Outstanding service and delicious breakfasts served.

My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights in July 07. The room is quite small, but cozy and perfect for an intimite weekend. It is very romantically decorated and there are candles everywhere! The breakfast is to die for. We were only able to stay for one breakfast because we left so early on Sunday, however, Paisly was so kind that she made us blueberry waffles the night before so we could eat them before we left in the morning. She also provided us tips on where to eat and shop and printed directions to everywhere we wanted to go. We were so happy to find it, and would certainly go back again.

I mostly agree with the first review. I must rave a bit more about Paisley's breakfasts. They were wonderfully prepared and different day to day. She also easily and masterfully adjusted to our dietary requests. There's a great sense of privacy even though the main house is nearby. The location is near the park and zoo and the trendy Hillcrest area. I look forward to staying here the next time I visit San Diego.

We stayed for two nights in March 07. Although the property is quite small, it is a charming place that offers very good value. The breakfast is outstanding, served on the tiled patio just outside the room, and the hostess, Paisley, was super nice and friendly. She gave us tips on where to eat and shop and provided directions at the drop of a name. We liked her "collectibles" in the room, which is very romantically decorated. Would have liked a little more room for our luggage, but overall we thought it was a find and would certainly go back again.
