Always Inn San Clemente Bed and Breakfast

The Always Inn is a delightful B&B in the heart of San Clemente. Freda is a cheerful and generous hostess whose warmth and kindness are evident from the moment you walk in the door. It isn't until you sit down for breakfast that you realize that you are in for an amazing culinary experience. She easily accommodates dietary constraints (we are vegan) and whips up a new dish each morning to go with plenty of fresh fruit & pastries and great coffee. We booked at the last minute, so the room we had was lovely, but located on a main street, so there was street noise, but with ear plugs, we slept with no trouble. When we return, we will book one of the rooms away from the main street. We can't recommend Freda and this oasis highly enough!

In my lifetime of traveling the world, I have never met a host that has made me feel as cared for as Freda. I just walked in off the street and she insisted that I sit down for a bowl of fresh berries and fruit, and a wonderful omelette, with the best homemade chorizo I've ever had! Freda loves people and puts her whole heart into making you feel at home. It just makes you happy being around Freda. Perfectly situated in the center of Del Mar, the heart of San Clemente, and about 5 minutes walk to the beach, her place is really sweet, Fantastic experience . . . Love you Freda! Xakan

The owners of this in went out of their to accommodate us and make our stay enjoyable. The atmosphere is pretty, friendly and homey. Very comfortable.

My new husband and I spent the first couple of nights of our honeymoon here. We're in our 50s but Freda the owner made a big fuss over us as though we were young newlyweds. Her warmth and hospitality were wonderful. The room we stayed in was very homey and Freda kept it full of snacks for us. We had gotten the "strawberry special" (with chocolate covered strawberries, roses and champagne) and it was a great welcome to our room. The bouquet of roses was huge and beautiful. Freda cooked us great breakfasts every morning and took care of the fact that my husband had dairy allergies by making special food. She is a wonderful and personable individual and we look forward to being able to return in the future.

There are many good things about this Inn: it is one street over from great restaurants; it is clean and well-maintained; the staff is very cordial and willing to please. While it's a stretch, you can walk to the beach. Still, for the price it's pretty humble and a bit frumpy. You almost expect to see a lava lamp in the bedroom. Breakfast is scrumptious and complete.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend anniversary trip. We stayed in the Ocean Dance room - a lovely room - and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food for breakfast was great and we even stayed up late one night taking advantage of the game stash playing Parchessi and drinking wine one night. Made for a fun anniversary :-)

I recently stayed for 2 nights at the Always Inn Bed and Breakfast. I could not have asked for a better location- less than a block from the main street with all the cute shops and restaurants, and just a few blocks from the beautiful beach. The room was comfortable and the breakfasts were incredible! The owner and inn keepers made me feel extremely welcome and made sure I had everything I needed. I highly recommend this B and B!

We stayed for one night in the "Palms" room - which was very cozy and comfortable. We brought our dog with us and he enjoyed his stay there too. Alma is very cool and makes a killer breakfast and treats as well (look for the brownies!).

Thanks so much to the wonderful staff at the Always Inn! I reserved a room for my mom's 60th birthday gift. She absolutely loved the experience. She could not stop talking about how much she enjoyed the keeper's hospitality and warmth. She baked a dish to suit my mom's diet and she even helped repot the orchids that my mom bought at the Farmer's Market. My mom said it was the best birthday gift she had ever received, so thanks again to Always Inn for helping make the experience unforgettable.

We are very familiar with downtown San Clemente and its restaurants. While dining at Beachfire and Avilla's in the past we had noticed the Always Inn nearby. Wehn we were forced to cancel our planned vacation this summer, we decided to at least squeeze in a two night staycation. Trying the Always Inn was a good fit. We had a great time. The room was cozy and the breakfast was very nice out on the patio. The bed was rough for us to gett a good night sleep, but beds are a very personable thing. I am sure we will stay here again, or in one of their other properties in Idylwild.

A truly delightful surprise. I looked for something special to surprise my wife for her Birthday, and how fortunate I was to find the Alway's Inn. The Innkeeper and owner could not have been more kind and helpful. The Inn is appointed both tastefully and with an artistic eclectic flair, and is surrounded by patio gardens throughout the property. The patios create a peaceful feeling of seclusion, and yet the location is short walks to great tasting food, shopping, and the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Breakfast was simply one of the best we've enjoyed together, and we met the nicest people to share some time with while dining. I could go on, and on, but please give The Always Inn a try and you will not be disappointed. We'll be back!

The B & B was perfectly located in close proximity to the pier and the main street with many shopping and dining venues. Yet at the same time it was very quiet being situated in a residential area. The hospitality of Cindilina and Dale was heartwarming and gracious. They were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make one feel at home. We stayed four nights and found breakfasts healthy and filling yet creatively refined. There was always a snack (cookies or cake) available at any time of the day. The eclectic decor was very warm and inviting, a perfect setting for prolonging conversation if one so desired. We would highly recommend a stay at this wonderful inn and hope to return in the future ourselves.

Great location, great accommodations, relax in comfortable surroundings, topped off with terrific hosts in Alma and Carmelo.....would not only recommend but am looking forward to my next stay and another of Almas (otherwise know as the Queen of Eggs) egg specialties......DDaily

We stayed in the Sea Horse rental on Ave Florencia, and was surprised at how nice the property was. Our friends (another couple) stayed in the adjoining townhome, called the Sea Breeze on the website. Briefly, I'll say that the amenities are great for a family. It's very clean, each unit has 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, washer/dryer, full kitchen, utensils, pots & pans, dishes, etc. I want to clarify something that's not clear on the website. The townhomes are not identical. Unit A has 2 enclosed queen bedrooms upstairs, and 1 bath up and 1 bath downstairs. No fireplace. Larger kitchen, no dining room. Unit B has 1 King Master w/ bath upstairs, but is a loft. 1 Queen bedroom downstairs with a bath. Has a fireplace. Small kitchen, and dining room. Both units share a backyard with a nice fireplace. Walking distance from beach, complementary beach towels and surfboard. All in all a very cool place for a great price.

The owner is hilariouse! Informative, friendly & we have a dear friend for years to come! Can't wait to be neighbors

We found the Always Inn to be exactly what we wanted---dog-friendly and located within walking distance of several dog-friendly restaurants!! We were not expecting the warm welcome and hospitality of the owner (Freda), with her homemade cookies and scrumptious breakfast (all fresh ingredients)! Be prepared to gain a few pounds during your stay!!

Our visit was an "overnighter" on a Saturday. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The inn is adorable! Sunday morning we met our hosts and they made us feel so welcome! We chatted a bit with them on the front patio (where we wanted to spend our meal) and had a wonderful breakfast that kept us going almost all day. We have not been to San Clemente for quite some time, so this was a nice treat. I'm sure if we get back to the area, we will certainly stay here again!

No car needed after check in to see all the great spots of San Clemente. Beautiful home, great amenities, loved having private space on the back patio anytime. Quiet, yet hustle and bustle in 100 ft. almost! really surprising. The hosts were fabulous and food amazing. We will stay there anytime we are in south county. Easy, easy place to relax.

Great little place, right in the middle of San Clemente. The rooms are well appointed and perfectly maintained. I've never stayed at a place more "home-like." Highly recommended! We will definitely be staying again.

We enjoyed our stay to take in the town of San Clemente, walk to the beach and enjoy an oceanside dinner. Freda went out of her way to welcome us and recommend great eating places. The room was cozy, the breakfast was wonderful, and we left refreshed and ready to take on our upcoming conference.

The best thing that Always Inn in San Clemente had to offer to us was the Innkeepers. Very hospitable, friendly and made us feel at home right away. They accommodated our breakfast requests. The room was too cold for us though (I thought the little fireplace that was in the corner of the room was a decor - no off/on button). We were later informed - on our last day - that it was a working heater. The bed was not very comfortable. Nothing that a mattress pad could not fix. I like the location very much - to shopping!!!

This inn is right by the main strip of San Clemente. Easy to walk everywhere. Innkeepers were very sociable. Decor is nice and not too kitschy or country.

The location is great: walk anywhere in minutes, but it's quiet in your room. The building and rooms are well appointed and lovely. The innkeepers know everything about the area and make you feel at home. The fireplace in the living room begs for a evening with your beverage of choice and a companion or good book. Private patios, off-street parking.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a lovely weekend in San Clemente. We stayed at the Always Inn, which is just around the corner from the main street, and just across the street from the Cabrillo Playhouse, where we saw an interesting rendition of "12 Angry Men", renamed "12 Angry Jurors". The Always Inn is very pleasant, with off-street parking, friendly hosts and DVDs that you can watch in your room. They also made us a delicious breakfast to help us start our day. We are looking forward to a return trip.

The Always Inn is located in the heart of Downtown San Clemente, within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, art galleries, day spas, the beach and the San Clemente Pier. The Inn Keepers worked diligently to provide a comfortable environment and served a delicious cooked to order breakfast each morning. Water, coffee, tea and snacks are available throughout the stay at no additional cost. There are three guest rooms, each with its own attached bathroom. The Inn is pet friendly, however; this may be somewhat of a nuisance for those of us that travel without pets. There is a free parking space allotted for each of the guests, and an enclosed patio where bicycles and beach equipment maybe stored during the visit.

If you are looking for a different experience than the common hotel this is the place to be. Wonderful hosts, everything within walking distance, and all of the comforts of home. I will be back.

My wife and I decided to stay here in order to celebrate our finding out she was pregnant. The innkeepers were extremely nice and did everything possible to make my wife comfortable (especially since she had bad morning sickness). We both thoroughly enjoyed our time. The room was great, the beach was just a short walk away, the sunset was gorgeous, and the company was the best I could imagine. What more could you ask for?

What a nice charming and soothing place to return to after a day of meandering around the village or beach of San Clemente. Wonderful innkeeper, who can also whip up an incredible breakfast. Great spot for that R&R get-away!

Located 1/2 block from downtown San Clemente and 20 min stroll to the pier, this location is perfect for the shopper as well as the sea lover. Clean and homey this B and B owes a lot of its' charm to the innkeeper that genuinely makes you feel like a long lost friend. We travel to the OC on a regular basis and have now sworn off sterile hotels. A Must.

My wife and I stayed here for a short weekend getaway from LA and absolutely loved it! The innkeepers are truly wonderful, special people. Very kind, warm, and caring. The place is small but has great garden/patio areas, feels very secluded and quiet. Breakfast was outstanding! The location is great - just 1 block from the main street with restaurants, shops, bars, etc. Only about a 10 minute walk to the beach as well. Definitely happy and will go back again!.

The environment was warm and appealing: earthly and sweet, as was the welcome by our hosts.

We recently went to San Clemente for our son's wedding, so took the family and all 3 rooms of this charming B&B. Craig and Sonia made our stay very relaxing despite the flow of friends and relatives in and out much of our stay. The outside patio was perfect for our needs, but would not have worked without the assistance of Graig and Sonia. Breakfast was fantastic each day. What a memorable experience, it just fit perfectly with the wedding and our family. Thank you Graig and Sonia.

My husband and I went to the B&B to celebrate our anniversary. It is located near downtown (walking distance) to the beach, shops, and restaurants. The rooms are clean, but small. But you're not in your room much since there's so much to enjoy outdoors. Sonia and Craig are very hospitable and were generous in their recommendations of various places to eat. We went and had delicious seafood and then walked to a frozen yogurt shop. In the morning, Sonia prepared an amazing breakfast! I'm a tea drinker and they had wonderful tasting teas to choose from. My husband and I both enjoyed our stay there.

The house was beautiful. The hosts were GREAT! There was plenty to do in the surrounding neighborhoods. I was really pleased with my stay. Thank you very much!

Always Inn is a sweet little secret in San Clemente. Nice location, Room and Staff. Breakfast was the best meal of our stay. Avilas for lunch and Carbonaras for dinner were ok. We wine tasted at San Clemente wines and at the new place The Cellar, a fun time. We will be back, I am sure. Thank You!

This was our second visit. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The warm welcome, great home-cooked breakfast and central location of the inn. Located seconds away from downtown and a few minutes from the beach. No driving necessary. Great for newcomers and repeat visitors. Very clean and safe. Spacious rooms with own bathroom each. Our 11 month old son had plenty of room to crawl! Can't wait to go back!!! Perfect get-away weekend.

We were specifically looking for a place to relax near the beach. My only "complaint" is that there was SO MUCH attention to every conceivable convenience that the room was a bit on the crowded side. Freda's breakfasts were out of this world and she truly did make us feel welcome without being intrusive.

My business partner and I stay here whenever we can get in. Freda and Kevin can steer you to the best restaurants and entertainment, which coincidentally usually means Kevin at a local restaurant. So, you not only get a beautiful B&B to stay in at rates competitive to hotels, but you will make new friends, have the breakfast of your life, and be within easy walking distance of the outstanding restaurants in town. I recommend the eggplant parmesan at Carbone's.
