By the Beach

First, this location was great so we could be within walking distance of our "kids" & grand kid's home. Plus the beach - what more could you want? The accommodations were perfect, staying in the "Master" with its large space and bath area. Richard's breakfasts included three of my favorites (pancakes, french toast and waffles). He and Susan are wonderful hosts. Highly recommended.

We stayed at this B&B after taking my dad for a doctor's appointment at UCLA. My father was really feeling down after not hearing very encouraging words from his doctor. We stayed at this B&B because we needed a safe quite environment for him to relax. Richard and Susan hospitality was amazing. They welcomed us with open arms and made us feel very welcome. They served us a wonderful breakfast and my dads spirits were lifted when we headed out for the long ride home. We will always remember this special night. God Bless you both.

We rented the entire house in April 2012 for a family reunion with 3 parties staying here from Honolulu and Seattle. The house was extremely comfortable for our group with 4 bedrooms (3 upstairs, 1 down) and 4 bathrooms (2 upstairs, 2 down). Cooking was minimal but the kitchen was well laid out, easy to navigate and store our food. The lower level back bedroom and bath were perfect for our senior and the upper level bedrooms were fine for the kids, parents and single guests. The large dining area was perfect for our group. The laundry center on the upper floor was convenient. We appreciate Richard & Susan's hospitality and hope to visit again! Mahalo & Aloha, Ron & Melinda Seattle, WA

Lovely home and rooms. We felt very comfortable in all areas, indoors and out. Fabulous location and neighborhood. Perfect for walkers.

Family of 10 from Norway spent 7 nights at By the Beach, we were very pleased with the house and location. Walking distance to the shops, the beach and restaurants. Definitely recommend!

I recently spent 5 nights in the yellow room. Richard and Sue were excellent hosts. The breakfast was amazing and they were able to accommodate my gluten-free dietary needs. The house was comfortable, very clean and so welcoming! My husband and I were able to enjoy the warm weather on the patio every morning. It was a delightful place to have coffee, breakfast and just relax! We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed at By the Beach B&B for my birthday in February while visiting our daughter who had just moved to Redondo Beach in December. We really enjoyed our stay, the room was great and the bed was really comfortable, haven't slept so well in a long time. The innkeepers, Richard and Susan were so pleasant and friendly, it was like they were old friends that we just hadn't seen in a while. They even gave me a birthday card, what a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious and they even helped us find our way around. We really enjoy staying at bed and breakfasts and this one is top notch, we will be back.

My wife and I went down to LA for a romantic weekend a couple of weeks ago and wanted to avoid the depressing hotels. We've stayed the weekend with Susan and Richard and it made that weekend into a very special experience. It's a charming couple hosting in their lovely house that is well kept, very clean, fresh and cosy. Breakfast was great as well, what else can one ask for? we got it all much more than we have expected. If you are lucky you are reading this review, and you'll get to stay at By the Beach - Enjoy!

We wanted to spend some time in Redondo before buying a home in the area. Susan and Richard were exceedingly accommodating, informative and interesting. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We loved our stay with the Egans!

The proximity (8-9 minute walk) to the beach was only the beginning of the many fine aspects we discovered "By the Beach": Comfortable beds, friendly hosts, impeccable, updated room & bath, yummy breakfasts. We stayed 8 nights and will go back.

My wife, sister, and I had a wonderful three days with the Egans, inkeepers, at 'By the Beach' in Redondo Beach. The home is sunny, spacious, perfectly clean, and the service excellent, not a hint of complaint in any way. The location is ideal, in a quiet neighborhood yet a short walk to the spectacular oceanside. We highly recommend 'By the Beach.'

Surpassed our expectations by far. Extremely kind and educated hosts made our stay a pleasure. And the Breakfast (Richard's job) is the best North of the Equator.

We got a room in the back that had it's own entrance! The room was big and clean and breakfast was delicious. They have a nice hot tub in the back! Richard and Susan are helpful and sweet. They will give you all the info on the best places to eat in town and enjoy the best beers. The neighborhood is quiet and full of flowers that smell good. The beach is only a few blocks away.

Our hosts were wonderful, kind, and interesting people. The room was very clean and very nice. Close to the beach, and our hosts were very helpful with things to do. We highly recommend By the Beach.

We were staying 3 nights at the inn while at a wedding. Even though Richard and Susan generally serve a group breakfast, they were very accommodating for our needs to have a quiet retreat at our lodging, since we have a very social weekend. We would recommend to anyone!

Staying 5 nights we got more than a B&B. We found kindness, service, and smiles. Richard and Susan are the best hosts we've met!

I've been to many B&B's over the years, and far met the standards of warmth and hospitality at the sunny By The Beach.

We stayed 8 nights in the Yellow room and one (1) in the Blue room. Both rooms were very comfortable, and the Egans made us feel very much at home for the whole time we were there. We found great accommodations.....and some new friends in Richard and Susan, too. We will definitely recommend By the Beach to anyone else we know. My partner and I stayed in 2008, not knowing anything about accommodations or Redondo Beach. Susan and Richard were warm, gracious hosts without being intrusive. Their home is beautiful. We attended a training in Redondo Beach, and as a result of our strong recommendation, many attendees of the training center stay at By the Beach. We are fortunate to be staying there again in March 2009. It is reassuring to imagine we will enjoy it very much.

We very much enjoyed our stay with Richard and Susan. They are wonderful hosts- everything was clean, and the food was great. The children enjoyed the stay as well, (ages 11 &13).

We've been staying the area for years but almost always at hotels and motels. Thisyear we stayed with Richard and Susan and they were exceptional hosts. One of us was sick during part of the stay (not their fault) and they were wonderful in trying to help us. We would definitely stay there again.

The hosts were wonderful and the accommodations exceeded our expectations. The location is excellent and it would be our first choice B&B for future stays in the area.

Congenial, helpful, friendly

Our stay with Richard and Susan was wonderful. My fiancee and I came for our 4 year anniversary and the hosts were warm and inviting. unfortunately, there were multiple fires in the area, so the air quality wasn't great, but our stay still managed to be great. A testament to our fantastic hosts.

Our upstairs room was spacious and comfortable, breakfasts were great and the delightful neighborhood shops and restaurants were within easy walking distance. We plan to stay here again!

Well it did on our trip but not at By The Beach B & B. The Egans are wonderful hosts who oversee a spotlessly clean operation. They went "above and beyond" to accomodate our travel schedule. We look forward to staying with them in the future.

I was visiting Redondo for the first time and wanted to stay at a home rather than a hotel. What a good idea it turned out to be. Every thing you could desire is within walking distance. The beach, dining, laundromat,wine shop,food shop,coffee shop,everything. I felt very safe walking alone at night after watching the sun set at the beach. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Say HI to Richard and Susan for me when you stay there.

Our hosts were on vacation during our stay, so we didn't have breakfast. A reduced rate was offered though, and accepted! Our room was clean and comfortable. Communication was SUPER and extremely polite and professional. Thanks for trusting us with your beautiful house and we hope to stay again sometime to meet you and enjoy your breakfast!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at By the Beach. Richard and Susan made us feel very much at home. Breakfast was a treat every morning. The location was very convenient to LAX, and it is an easy walk to the beach. We highly recommend their B&B and will stay there again.

I stayed at By the Beach in late June and early July 2008 while attending a conference at the Crowne Point plaza hotel. I loved being able to walk up and down the beach each day for a little exercise. The B&B was a wonderful alternative to staying at the standard but pricey hotel, and I found many of my colleagues were envious! It was an easy walk to the Pier and conference areas, fine dining, Whole Foods or other stores and a nearby sake bar! (Taking the public bus nearby was also an option.) Richard and Susan were very professional and generous with help and advice. It was a delight to have such a clean and comfy place to return to in the evenings after long days. I would definitely choose this B&B again.

My wife and I appreciated this place. We went at the end of august 2007. It was fantastic. We used yellow room with private exit. Richard and Susan are friendly with us. All meals are prepared with biologic stuff. The breakfasts are served inside or outside. Thanks for all Inès and Caroll (Québec)

It had been a while since we had stayed at a B&B where it was really a room inside their house. We had access to our own bathroom, but we really were invited into their home. But any concerns we might have had at first quickly faded. Richard and Susan were extremely polite and professional. We had plenty of privacy and never heard anyone else in the home (except during breakfast where we had a splendid chat with a young German couple). The room was big, extremely clean, and very well furnished. But the greatest part was the location. We spent more than a few late nights in the Redondo Beach village and could easily walk the few blocks up to the house. We could be at the airport in 30 minutes, or in Palos Verdes in 5 minutes, the beach is a 15 minute walk, or a 2 minute drive. For us, this location worked out perfectly. Thanks R & S! We really enjoyed our stay.
