The Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive

This inn has gorgeous architecture and beautiful gardens. We stayed in the Curlew room, which was spacious and had a kitchenette. The innkeeper, Andrea, and the chef gave us friendly efficient service. We have dietary restrictions but they accommodated us comfortably.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this warm B & B. We liked that it was located in Pacific Grove away from all the people, it was a short walk to the ocean, parking was FREE, The room was beautifully comfortable, the wine and appetizers were delicious, as the breakfast was too. Andrea and Dave were very friendly and gave excellent service. We felt comfortable sitting downstairs and enjoying our wine and talking. It didn't feel like we were staying in someone else's house. I wish I had known they had a jacuzzi. I didn't notice they had one after viewing their website. We plan to go back.

My family of four reserved the "Ocean Front House" which is a short drive away from the Inn, and aptly named. Both a carport and legal street parking provided easy access. Breakfast at the Inn was delicious and different all three mornings we were there. Andrea was welcoming and kind; helpful to a fault... a handyman came out and took care of a chirping smoke detector on a high ceiling within an hour of discovery. My 15 year old son enjoyed the cozy and private sleeping loft, my 15 year old daughter had her choice of large sofa bed or large futon bed, and we were so comfortable in our large rear bedroom, we didn't even notice a lightening storm! The view... ahhhhhhhhhhh was the exclamation we all had when we walked up to the front room and saw the floor to ceiling windows and 180 degrees of Monterey Bay where it meets the ocean. A full kitchen was there as well, but we didn't need it with our breakfasts at the Inn and our restaurant explorations at night. Very handy to have the fridge in any case for our doggie bags and our cold drinks. We will be back. We were very happy in Pacific Grove those three days. Staff was friendly, room was quiet and beautiful, bed was comfortable, food was amazing--it was everything we needed for a romantic weekend by the ocean!

The breakfast, both days, was very good, served in a very charming room overlooking the garden. The first morning we even got delicious pastries from the local bakery, Pavels' Backerei. They were fantastic, and we stopped there on the way home to buy more!. Part of our package was champagne and chocolate in our room on arrival. My brother and wife never got theirs, and I was not too excited about a foil wrapped choclate Easter bunny, two days after Easter. The wine served during the wine and cheese afternoon experience was Salmon Creek, as was the champagne. We liked both very much. The Innkeeper was accommodating re people's needs for breakfasts. The girl, who welcomed us to the Inn, was very helpful, carrying suitcases, pouring wine and even made barbecued chicken legs for the appetizers the first night.

Innkeeper was very pleasant and knew the area very well. The evening appetizers were marvelous. Breakfast was simple, but tasty. The Inn is near the coast and a few minutes away from the Aquarium. Great getaway trip!

We stayed again for 2nights and wished it could have been more. The staff was great as usual.

We had a pleasant stay here not too long ago. The management was friendly and warm, as was the staff. Our only gripe was that the bathtub had quite a few long black hairs in it (we didn't bother complaining about it). We would stay there again, but probably check the cleanliness first before we settled in.

We enjoyed our overnight stay. Andrea the innkeeper was very pleasant and accommodating. Room was cute without being kitschy. We would stay again.

I was there for 3 nights. Really enjoyed the wine and appetizers each month as a very social time.

Arrived at check in time and no one was in the office. After waiting a short while, the cook came out and checked us in. Stayed in the Sandpiper room and it was too small for 2 people. It felt almost claustrophobic. The room was clean and there was a cheap bottle of champagne, a 3 pack of Ferrero Roche chocolates, and fresh flowers in the room. The walls are thin and every cough, sneeze, and snore from nearby rooms can be heard. The shower wasn't working and it was too late to call anyone so we had to take a bath instead. The late afternoon wine and appetizer hour was disappointing. There were a variety of appetizers - pasta primavera cups, stuffed mushrooms, and chicken wings. The cook had a pet bird that he was handling and had on his shoulder as he stirred a pot. We didn't see him wash his hands after handling the bird so we opted to skip the appetizers. At breakfast, we tried to block out the pet bird incident and trust that the food hadn't been contaminated with bird germs. Breakfast was a couple of tablespoons of scrambled eggs, 2 sausage links, fruit, and 2 small rubbery pancakes. Coffee, tea, orange juice, and cold cereal were available. This was definitely not the gourmet breakfast that one would expect from a b and b. When we checked out, there was no one in the office so we just left the room key on the desk and left. While the location is great with lots of nearby shopping and restaurants and close proximity to Monterey, it is not a place that we would stay at again. By the way, we did meet the innkeeper briefly at the wine hour and found her to be perfunctorily pleasant.

Had some trouble booking my stay ( ie was left on hold for extended period of time) had to call back twice. But in the end, when we arrived, was immediately offered an upgrade to a room with a king bed which was very much appreciated since my husband is 6'4"! :) The location was excellent within walking distance to the monarch butterfly habitat.

It was very nice , probably bec it is in Pacific Grove,, espec. the evening snacks , wine and the breakfasts. The place itself needs some care though still pleasant. Things could match , things could be newer, there needs to be suitcase holders in the rooms, the sheets need to be contoured,etc etc.It was very pleasant dnwe woudl return.If ther was another groupon.

We had a delightful time. The innkeeper was very helpful with suggestions for activities and dining. She made you feel welcome and at home.

The Inn at seventeen mile drive is an outstanding, quaint, family atmosphere suitable for everyone. The rooms are darling and the staff is warm and welcoming. The value is exceptional! The town is walking distance with plenty of dinning choices to choose from. We will definitly return.

I enjoyed the family room, The Curlew. It had all that was needed to help my family's stay comfortable. the hospitality was wonderful and the Breakfasts were outstanding and perfect for my small children.

We felt very much at home here, welcomed and helped whenever needed. Nice enclosed porch to sit in, lots of games, reading material. The breakfast was great! The snacks and wine in the evening were almost a meal. The property, though, is getting a bit run down, needing some paint, new carpeting on the stairs, new blinds for the windows. Bathrooms OK but also a bit dated. We would return for a getaway because of the homey ambience, depending on the price. It's not the most elegant well-kept property, so the price needs to remain reasonable in comparison to fancier properties.

Avocet room pretty, as were all the others we peeked into. Evening wine and nosh very tasty. Lovely location. Staff helpful. The building is prettier than its picture. Hot tub not working when we stayed.

Want a nice getaway. This was it. My wife normally wouldn't have wanted to do something like this if she had a choice. I think this changed that thought. We loved it and the people were great. Stay in the main house. Very nice.

Very pleasant and relaxing B & B, great location and close to all scenic places to visit. Stayed in the Pelican Room (cottage) and it was warm and cozy - nice stay for the Christmas weekend. Friendly hosts and good food.

Exceptional value for our Groupon. The landscaping was exceptional, the Christmas decorations were well done throughout, our room was awesome and included wine, chocolates and champagne. Excellent breakfast ! This was the nicest of the more than a dozen B&Bs we have stayed in during the past 4 months with Groupon and Living Social.

The Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive is a beautiful old Craftsman-style house where we felt so very much at home. We were welcomed the first night with delicious hot appetizers and wine and spent the evening sitting around the parlor in front of a warm fire and talking with many other guests and David, who was just filling in to help Andrea while she was laid up. David acted as concierge, chef (for the delicious hot appetizers, cookies and amazing full breakfasts) and all-around "friend" to us all. The second night we opted to stay in for more wine and appetizers rather than find somewhere to go out to dinner, and we again enjoyed sitting in the parlor in front of the fire talking with Andrea and David (there were fewer guests on a Sunday night). Overall, we had the best experience we've ever had at a B&B (and we have been to many over the years). Our room was lovely and quite large with a sitting area with a view of the ocean; and we hope to return with friends in the Spring.

The Groupon was the selling point, the people were nice but...There always seems to be the but, in our case it was a sleepless night in the Osprey room. The folks upstairs stayed up till let's say 1 AM and when they walked around, and they walked alot, it creeked and cracked like the floor was going to give way. Nice grounds and the breakfast was good, not great.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday for one night. We had a great time, and the service was fantastic. When I made the reservation, I told the innkeeper, Andrea, that I couldn't really afford 2 nights, and she waived their 2-night weekend rule for me. When we arrived, even though I didn't request it, she brought up a bottle of birthday champagne and chocolates. We had a great time. And didn't feel at all uncomfortable there as a gay couple.

Room and bathroom were clean. Property and landscaping was well maintained. Evening hordeauvres and breakfast were ordinary and basic. Not a WOW memory. Tripadvisor.com says cordon bleu chef/innkeeper has left. Don't think they have an experienced new chef and/or new innkeeper. Staff was obscure and not as friendly as expected. Hope all our future B and B's stays are steps above this. Sorry THE INN ..wish it was a better experience.

The Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive was more than expected. The inn keepers were very welcoming and the environment was extremely pleasant and offered exactly what we were looking for. The evening wine was a great way to socialize with the other guests and the morning breakfasts were colorful and filling. Would recommend this location to anyone without any hesitation. Thanks for the wonderful accomodations.

The location could not have been more convenient! Lovely Inn and breakfast was fantastic both mornings! We did not partake of the evening appetizers and wine but everyone we spoke to enjoyed them. The only issue was the upstairs backdoor as it would bang shut everytime someone would come in our out at all hours. Perhaps a neumatic closer or something to deaden the noise. Our room was right next to the door and it woke us several times.

Had a lovely birthday getaway -- were fortunate to have used a Groupon, but a good value even without it. We especially liked the appetizers and wine in the evening, and the chance to mingle with guests there. We stayed in the Pelican, which is a freestanding cabin with a king bed and character. Grounds were nicely maintained. We walked to a dinner spot about 4 long blocks away because we had a little too much wine with appetizers!! Breakfast was also yummy. We ate at a little Vietnamese place called An Choi (the one we walked to). Food very fresh; pricing kind of steep I thought for portion size, but very good food. No wait unlike many area restaurants. Honey Walnut prawns were $16 for only 4 prawns -- BIG prawns, but we are used to getting more in an order. Drinks around $7 each. Their seafood fried rice in a clay pot was very good! The Inn was nice and quiet -- not much street noise. They had a hot tub, but we never got the chance to use it. Would definitely stay again, and never would have known to go there without the Groupon.

It was fine; very nice. The chef was very helpful in getting us checked in and was very attentive during our stay.

Our 2-night stay at the Inn was very pleasant. The new innkeeper was doing well with her short-notice appointment and is not only friendly, accomodating, and interesting, but a great cook. Appetizers at the happy hour were a nice variety and served attractively. The full breakfast each day was served at our table and was also very good. The rooms are furnished very nicely, and some are quite spacious. The well-maintained gardens are very calming and beautiful. All in all, a great place to stay!

This delightful inn is located an easy walk to downtown, to the water, and to the monarch butterflies. The room in which we stayed was very comfortable and nicely decorated. There was a pleasant wine and cheese happy hour, which introduced guests to each other. The breakfast was quite spectacular, the innkeeper being a professional chef. The closest thing to a disappointment was that we were unable to use the hot tub, it being cold and in need of attention. That aside, I recommend this inn and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Rooms are very romantic and great accommodations. Rooms are big and very clean.

everything is average , except for the food , its not worth the wait , we waited to have breakfast at 9 am that we should have been somewhere else..

We stayed at The Inn's Pelican Cottage for our 20th Anniversary and found it so romantic. The breakfast is fantastic and were delighted to be offered snacks & wine at 5p and cookies at bedtime in the beautiful old Inn. And the innkeeper, Jase is fabulous - he really made the stay extra enjoyable. We hope to come back every year! The Luteys

Appreciated off street parking. Quiet neighborhood. Easy access to Carmel and Monterey. Enjoyed the stately warm atmosphere. Enjoyed having total privacy in the main house. Chef Jas was masterful at preparing our healthy meals.

Great place to stay! The inn keeper/chef is hilarious and a very warm and welcoming guy. We came to know about this place thanks to a groupon and we would definitely stay here again even without the great deal we got. If you stay here do yourself a favor and do not skip breakfast,the food is top notch and not to be missed.

We stayed in the Guillemot, which is the upstairs room in the carriage house. We liked the redwood walls and lots of windows, some that open. There's a king bed and a double bed (the double is not noted on the website description). No soundproofing, so you can hear muffled talk from the downstairs folks, and I presume thy could hear our creaky floors when we walked, even though we took care to tip-toe around. There seemed to be more traffic at night than you'd expect. The bed was comfy, but the wicker chairs were not. No AC or ceiling fans, so it got pretty warm. There was one small fan in the room. The Scottish innkeeper was a hoot and we loved his banter. Pretty darn good cook too! Evening wine and snacks were creative and tasty. Breakfast was excellent, with individual table service. Not enough parking in the lot for the number of rooms, but fairly typical for PG. Our room was neat and clean, and there was a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and some chocolates upon arrival. Nice touch.

Calling the Inn is an issue. You get the answer service after a long hold. Then they are of little help. Road noise was evident from your room. We did enjoy the Inn very much as it is relaxed and the breakfast was excellent. Hard to say if we will return given all the other options.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights for our anniversary. The inn was comfortable and homey. We loved Jas' breakfasts as well as mingling with other patrons during breakfast and at the eveneing wine and hor devours. Some little things may bother some, like squeeky bed and creaking floors but it did not bother us nor detract from our stay. Surrounding area is nice and Jas was very helpful with restaraunts in the area. Would definately recommend.

The Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive is charming in its own right, replete with unique rooms and boasting historical overtones, but the real gem of the experience comes from the learned and hospitable Inn Keep: Jas. If his wealth of knowledge and stories of travels don't captivate you, then his culinary mastery surely will; with a Le Cordon Bleu Chef title under his belt, Jas prepared the best breakfast my wife and I have ever had...and the complimentary hors' dourves and wine the night before were amazing! If you are traveling to Monterey or the surrounding area, chances are you will be doing plenty of sight seeing and the like, so do yourselves a favor and avoid paying a premium for a B&B with an ocean view and stay with Jas...we can't remember every ocean view or sunset we've seen, but we will always remember our time with Jas.

This was our fist time staying at the Inn. which was beautiful. Pretty than than the pictures. We definitely would come back.Jas, made the whole experience outstanding. From answering our questions about where to have lunch and what to see in the area. We came back later that night too wine and hordevers, and visting with all the other guests, and enjoying one anothers company.The next morning he had made a breakfast that was out of this world. We had an absolutely lovely time at the Inn and would like to return on another day. Fantastic food, beautiful ambiance, well located...what else could you ask for?

We celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary here over the weekend and we could not have picked a better place to do it. This inn is located in a great location, close to downtown and to the coast. Our room, the Blue Heron, was just perfect. It is a large suite with a great view of the garden and the bay. Jas, the innkeeper was a delight to deal with. He made you feel like you were a friend staying in his home. The food Jas prepared was delicious. We met a wonderful couple in from Canada and we really enjoyed our time conversing with them. All in all, the perfect weekend at the perfect place to stay.

The place was well kept, decor was authentic and upscale, beds were comfortable, and the staff made you feel right at home! Great location too. Would definitely stay again!

This was our first B&B experience and it has been a positive one. The inn provided a warm family atmosphere that made the trip even more enjoyable. Chef Jas entertained us during breakfast with the history of the inn and willing provided with ideas to organize our schedule according to the weather. We stayed in the Turnstone room which was just as it appears in the pictures. The room was a little noisy due to street traffic but should not be bothersome unless you want pin drop silence. Overall, it was a great 2 days at the inn.

The innkeeper understood my need to avoid milk protein and put together buckwheat pancakes without any milk products, using fermented fruit citrus (as best I understand it) to produce a tasty, tangy vehicle for consuming high-quality maple syrup. Room was excellent and reasonably priced. We walked to dinner at a local Asian-fusion restaurant he recommended and were pleased with the food there. I forget the name. Then after breakfast we were perfectly situated to continue our bicycle ride along the coast. We will definitely be back.

What a lovely weekend we had. The room was so comfy and beautifully decorated(Turnstone), the staff were very helpful and friendly, the breakfasts were something completely unexpected they were so delicious, but, the best part of this inn is the Innkeeper himself, Jas. He makes you feel like this inn is your home, is always ready to share a story or two with you, or to listen to yours, and of course, what an incredible chef! This is definitely the place to stay.

Loved the Inn! As everyone mentions, the breakfasts were fantastic. As were the afternoon happy hours with wines and cheeses - great way to get some social contact outside your family/spouse/dog/travelling partner. The room was clean with a huge bathroom and was very quiet too (we had the Plover room). Definitely hit Peppers Mexicali for dinner - good food (not amazing), cheap, great cocktails, lovely service.

The "chef" innkeeper was friendly and hospitable but not always understandable as he was from Scotland. The innkeepers the last day, the daughter and son-in-law, made the most delicious pot stickers I ever ate. There were four (4) people smoking outside in the dark and seemed like ne'er-do-wellers. They did not interact with us like the other guests, or anyone else, and came in late and made noise. They ate separately and left but were not seen when the daughter was there. They were weird but were staying there nonetheless I was told, but I felt uncomfortable. The beds were like sleeping in loose jello. Sad. There were lots of nightlights inside the room that kept us awake--too many. The blinds did not block out the light of the exterior lites and we had to unscrew the outside light bulb next door. I called to let someone know but no one responded. The towels were to die for. Thanks.

Stayed in one of two rooms at the Inn where they allow dogs. The room was exceptionally clean and the furnishings were tasteful. The old-growth-redwood walls and ceiling are delightful. The chef, Jas, is from Scotland. He prepared delicious appetizers for a 5PM social hour. His breakfast was excellent: fritatta, whole wheat blueberry pancakes, banana compote with pineapple. There are two dining areas-- one for a group of 6 or 8, and another room with tables for 2, 4 or 6 as I recall. The gardens are well maintained. Parking is easy. We'll be back next year. Thank you.

It was our first visit to the Monterey Peninsula, and we fell in love with the area. The Inn is in a nice neighborhood and is close to town and water. The yard was beautiful, though past its summer best. Jas was interesting and friendly...loved his Scottish accent!

We were able to book quickly and the Inn is most charming. The food was excellent..and the service was just wonderful!!

We had a wonderful stay for our anniversary --and Jas, the charming Scottish innkeeper/chef, made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. The beautiful old inn is peppered with lovely antiques and surrounded by lush gardens, and some good wine and cheese is waiting for you at day's end. Great location to walk to the quaint town and fab restaurants, and quick drive to Monterey Aquarium and other fun outings in the area. Definitely recommended.

The hors d'oeuvres they serve in the evening are delicious. The innkeepers are very cordial. Breakfast is fantastic and everything is very clean and comfortable.

If you want a charming experience stay here!! The Inn offers a beautiful craftsman home with guest rooms more enchanting than the next. The inn keeper's Jas and Sally will immediately make you feel at home...and if that wasn't enough... wait until you have breakfast....truly Devine....Jas is an amazing Cordon Bleu Chef---you will be delighted! We look forward to coming back!

Lovely property, perfect walking distance location to both downtown Pacific Grove and the beach. The breakfast was excellent. The evening wine very relaxed and enjoyable. The shortbread and coffee left available for post dinner snacks - very thoughtful. Service (both housekeeping and innkeeper) was very good. And they have some dog friendly rooms.

We arrived a little late for wine and hors d'oeuvres but were warmly greeted by Sally and after check-in were still able to share some decent wines and wonderful Williamsburg meatballs in the comfort of the sitting room. We stayed in the Guillemot, up a steep flight of interior stairs but very roomy and well appointed with an architecturally pleasing vaulted wood ceiling, comfortable beds and large functional bathroom with oversize shower stall (no tub). Limited views but we knew that when we reserved. Jas is a creative and accomodating chef and breakfast was inventive and delicious. The dining experience encouraged guests to mingle and chat. The setting of this complex of three buildings on a hilltop is easy to access and located away from the hustle and bustle of other hostelries in Monterey, yet is only minutes from the downtown area. Plenty of on-street parking if you arrive back at the inn late in the evening as we did. Well recommended!

We recently stayed at the Pelican cottage at the Inn for three nights. It was a great place to stay. Very private and quiet. The bed is comfortable and the shower is good. The bathroom is a little small but not a problem since you have a living area as well as a bed area. The grounds are very pretty. The best feature of the Inn is the breakfasts! They were the best breakfasts I've had in a long while. Each day there was an egg souffle type dish, meat and a "sweet cake" much like a pancake with fruit in them. I definitely recommend the Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive.

We loved the dog-friendly accommodations as well as the yummy breakfast each morning and the wine reception in the evening. Really lovely gardens and nice people. Enjoyed our stay! Will stay there again!

We stayed at the Inn for 1 night and 4 nights in a house owned by the Inn. The hosts Jaz & Sally were excellent, very friendly and welcoming. They made our teenage kids feel very welcome aswell. Jaz's breakfasts & Sally's home made brownies were superb.

This guest house is the other side of the toll road that is the 17 mile drive that leads to Carmel. It really is a beautiful spot along the Monteray coast and this house with its charm and attention to detail doesnt let you down. The breakfast is outstanding and late afternoon wine and cheese is included in the room price! If you are in town, this place is worth a stay!

My husband and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary here. We stayed in the Turnstone which is a great room: lots of natural light, spacious, views of the ocean on one side and trees looking out the back of the house from the other. The decor was romantic with a comfortable balance between feminine and masculine. The room is at the end of the house, with outside stairs and access so it felt semi-private. The innkeepers are friendly and accomodating. The food is yummy and bountiful. The common rooms are comfortable. We were considering staying in Carmel, but I really liked that this location was less busy with easy assess to anywhere you'd want to go. We had a great time and will be back again.

I have been visiting Monterey for the past few years for work. I have stayed in multiple Hotels and Inns around the entire area. I can honestly say that I SOOOOOO wish that I had found the 213 Seventeen Mile Drive a lot earlier. I was greeted by name upon my arrival and the rest of the stay came close to as perfect as I can imagine. Jas The Innkeeper, Sally, Jim and Rachel were just so welcoming, I truly felt like it was such a special place. The room was elegantly decorated and the serenity provided much needed peace. I can't leave out the absolutely decadent homemade breakfast that was included. After all my years of staying around the Monterey area, I can say that even if you were paying hundreds of dollars more for this place, it would STILL be the best place to stay...seriously. We had a good stay, breakfast was great and the service was very friendly. Our only downside was that we stayed in a room on the ground floor in the coach house and when people came back late at night in the room above it was very noisy. Due to all the wooden floors it was extremely noisy when people are coming back late and not being very considerate.

The smells when you walk in are wonderful! Sally and Jas make you feel right at home, literally and we loved the afternoon wine party! Thanks for all you did for our lovely two-night stay. We wanted lunch and dinner too! -Bridget and John

What a lovely inn! My mother and I spent two nights here. Sally was so nice and helped answer all our questions. Jas is an incredible chef--breakfast was delicious. This Inn was a steal for the price!

This was the first stop of our honeymoon road trip, and possibly the best place we stayed--and we stayed a night at a swanky Vegas hotel. The innkeepers were delightful, and very helpful in recommending local establishments. Jas talked animatedly with us for a bit (to our great delight) as we relaxed on the front porch, and his breakfast was spectacular. The bed was comfortable, and the grounds were lovely. We arrived almost too late for the wine and appetizers, but there were still some left. Both were excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

It was a beautiful flat with the ocean right there out your window. Absolutely lovely. Will plan on it again, for longer next time. :)

The room was wonderful. The breakfast was fabulous and managed to keep us from getting hungry all day. I would highly recommend this Inn.

Although we enjoyed our stay the Ocean Side Flat we stayed hosted as many troubles as it did benefits. Offender #1 was the smell, it had a terrible smell, extremely dank and musty and no amount of airing it out helped. Secondly the bed, it was probably the loudest, creakiest bed I've ever slept on. You couldn't make a move on the bed without creating a complete ruckus. The TV was extremely small which was ok but the remote however was dead, this became an inconvenience to get up every time to change it even though we got stuck on Storage Wars - so it turned out for the best. The couch and blanks also had a strange smell to them so we slept on the sheets alone. And the last thing that really was a bit of a bummer was, although we had a deck, most of the ocean was cut off from the fence in front of us. You could just barely see over the top of the fence and you caught maybe a foot of ocean. This was frustrating because you could almost see it and you knew it was there. The pro's however are great, first off, the monterey coast line is amazing, it's right nearly out the front the door. My love and I sat for nearly an hour with our feet dangling over the edge watching the harbor seals bask. And it seemed to me this was the only place they flocked. It was amazing having this right our the front door. The ambience of the room is unmistakable, the Joan Baez feeling really comes to play, even though their aren't any remnants of her there. The deck was great sitting out on even though the ocean was tough to see. They had a grill that we didn't use. The bathroom was clean and nice, the shower a good size. The kitchenette was my favorite though. It had a hodgepodge of utensils, plates, glasses, cup, wine glasses, all varied, nothing matching and pretty much anything you needed. I loved this. All in all it was a pleasant stay, unforgettable and memorable with a few major hiccups.

My husband and I recently spent two nights at this B&B. It was absolutely wonderful! The inn and grounds were lovely and well kept. Our room was very clean and cozy. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful and to make us feel at home. Breakfasts were a special treat - delicious food served to us personally by Jaz, the Scottish Innkeeper/Chef. And then there were cookies in the evening prepared by the sweetest lady. My husband has told everyone how much we enjoyed staying here. We would recommend it to anyone. The location is also supurb. We're wishing we were there again right now.

We had a wonderful time at the inn, the room was wonderful, bright and cheery, the food was amazing and the afternoon wine and appetizers were better than most.

Everything was great, the room, dining, service and cleanliness. The only small part of our stay was it was a very warm weekend for the area, no A.C. in our upstairs loft room, but we were not there during the day. Enjoyed it much..

This was our first visit to a bed and breakfast. Jas and Sally were wonderful. They made the experience exceptional with their friendliness and ability to ensure the guests all felt like part of a small family. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast each morning as well as Jas' walkabout the room, speaking to each guest. And the late afternoon wine and cheese hour was a wonderful time to meet and greet the other guests in a warm atmosphere. Sally even made cookies that she deposited at our doorstep in the evening hours! The maid service was excellent; our room was kept clean and orderly every day. We enjoyed coming "home" in the evening hours and sitting in the livingroom to read. It felt very homey, thanks to the efforts of the entire crew. I highly recommend this place.

I was very pleased that we were able to get delicious breakfasts that were gluten-free. The innkeepers were very understanding and already prepared to deal with all sorts of dietary restrictions. Of course, the main reasons we loved this B&B were the location and the beautiful arts and crafts architecture of the inn. Our room had comfortable chairs for reading, with a view of the Monterey Bay, and it was a short walk down to the shoreline or to restaurants.

This was my second time staying at the inn in 2 years. I have stayed in the Plover room which is a good size and looks out over the garden, and then this time I was in the Sandpiper, a smaller room with a view to the outside of the inn. They have been great at accommodating vegetarian diets, have a very nice sun room to sit in and relax with snacks and games. When we were there they were sold out and still my husband and I had the entire common area to ourselves. I would definitely recommend. The location is about a 10 minute walk to the beach and just a few blocks to downtown Pacific Grove. No car needed for food and shopping. The staff is very friendly. We needed some last minute adjustments to our reservation and this was quickly taken care of.

Great location in a quiet neighborhood of Pacific Grove; literally a few minutes to Cannery Row and the Monterrey Aquarium; a few more to Carmel-by-the-Sea, right on 17 Mile Drive (wonderful drive and sights) and a very short drive to Point Lobos and Carmel Valley vineyards. Quick access to the Big Sur and points south. Outstanding breakfasts prepared by Jas, a true gourmet chef from Scotland. Worth your consideration if you are visiting the Monterrey peninsula area.

Love the location of this inn. Close enough to easily walk to the beach, to the lighthouse and to the shops and dining downtown Pacific Grove. We stayed in the Osprey (for the second time) and prefer it over the main building which always seems to be very hot. Although the location is very quiet, I would chose another room in the out building next time to avoid having people staying in the room above us. Their floor, our ceiling, is very squeaky and we heard every step. There is only one upstairs room so it would be easy to choose one without an upstairs "neighbor". The breakfasts were plentiful and very tasty and the evening hors d'ouevres were a nice touch.

This is our favorite B&B so far! The location, the personnel, the ambience all add to make the Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive an exceptional experience.

My husband, 9 month old daughter and I had a short & sweet one night stay. The room was very clean and spacious. We also enjoyed the little pond/waterfall and the tranquility of the inn.

We really enjoyed meeting the manager/cook. He was so friendly and in the morning when we ate the breakfast he prepared, it was out of this world! Our room was so nice and clean and they even had a small bottle of sparkling wind and 2 glasses in our room since they knew it was our anniversary celebration. And chocolates! No complaints. Our stay was just one perfect part of our weekend in Monterey/Pacific Grove.

A beautiful place to stay and great position. We were welcomed by Sally with drinks and tasty aperitifs. We met and chatted to other people staying there which was fun. A great introduction to this lovely inn. Then there was breakfast prepared by Jas which was delicious.

My fiance and I were really impressed by the hospitality and generosity at the Inn at 213 at Seventeen Mile Dr. The innkeeper, Jas, is an excellent chef (great breakfasts). Without us even asking, the staff decorated the grounds for our wedding ceremony and made me a bouquet. We had an impromptu champagne toast following the ceremony. Also, Jas and Sally (assistance housekeeper) recommended two wonderful restaurants for us for dinner. Great experience!

We've been to the Monterey/Pacific Grove/Carmel area numerous times over the years and this time everything came together to create the most spectacular experience ever. The room was fantastic, the service was wonderful and everything was just spectacular. We especially loved Jas, the Innkeeper, a charming, well informed fella who offered great tips on the area and helped with a good restaurant recommendation on what was a busy weekend in Pacific Grove. This is easily one of the best value for the money places in the entire area. We are already pllanning a return this Summer and look forward to returning to the region and our stay at the The Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive.

Located within walking distance to the ocean in one direction and the quiet, picturesque city of Pacific Grove in the other direction, this beautifully decorated inn provided a perfectly beautiful and serene setting for relaxation. The chef provided a sumptuous gourmet breakfast each morning. A special plus was the addition of wine and appetizers served in the cozy living room between 5 and 6:30 p.m. each evening.

We stayed in the Osprey room. Had a good experience overall when it came to the establishment and what it had to offer. I almost got a sense they kinda try 'too hard'. coffee was surprisingly good. food was pretty good. I will try a different place next time. I guess that's because, overall, it was just good. I want to find a place that is absolutely amazing.

We stayed in the Whimbrel and were very pleased with the accomodations. Perfect for a small family, cozy and warm even though it was cold & raining outside. Innkeeper Jas prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning and made us feel at home. The wine hour was a nice treat in the afternoon as well. Would stay here again.

Possible Julia Morgan gem tucked away on Lighthouse Ave at 17 Mile Drive. Lovely Craftsman style home with filtered views of Monterey Bay. Excellent breakfast. Jas is a soulful innkeeper who will regale you with stories of his travels, his Scotland home, the true origins of golf, and the important things in life.

We celebrated our anniversary at this unique Bed and Breakfast last weekend. The weather was beautiful and the location of this Inn is about 1/2 mile walk down to the shoreline where we spent most of our time. Sally, the assistant Innkeeper was delightful, very warm and welcoming. She prepared the evening appetizers and wine for the guests and along with Jas shared the history of the Inn. We had dinner at An Choi a great local restaurant that was close by that was recommended by them both. Sally made reservations for us for both nights that we were there. Jas, the Innkeeper, with a entertaining Scottish accent and mannerisms, was also a fantastic chef. The two breakfasts with pancakes and french toast were unlike any that we had ever tasted. One breakfast also included a delicate version of Eggs Benedict and fresh fruit. The second breakfast included a 4-cheese frittata and sausage cooked in apple juice with rosemary. The atmosphere at the Inn is warm and comfortable, meals are unhurried and relaxed. The other guests were friendly but unobtrusive. Even though we did not book one of the larger rooms, it was comfy, clean and well appointed including terry cloth robes! The Inn at 213 17 Mile Drive will be our first choice for our return visit to Pacific Grove area.

As advertised, the breakfasts were extraordinary, and were ever more interesting each day. The innkeepers wre very cordial, active, and knowledgeable about the area. Can't think of anything we would wish changed!

Jas, the innkeeper, made the experience unforgettable. Extremely cordial, accommodating and one heck of a chef. I've been visiting Pacific Grove for over 40 years and there isn't a bed and breakfast that compares to the Inn at Seventeen Mile Drive. It's just like staying at Grandma's house!!

It had been at least 5 years since my wife and I had last stayed at the Inn at 17 Mile Drive, and we realized shortly after arriving that we had been away for far too long a time. This time we stayed for two nights in the Pelican cottage and could not have imagined a better and more enjoyable way to spend a long weekend. Jaz's stories and breakfasts are amazing, and Sally is the perfect hostess in the evenings when we would go into the main house for wine and hors d'ouvres. It is very hard to have a bad time at the Inn as everyone is so friendly and outgoing. We felt like we were part of the family and didn't want to leave when Sunday rolled around. We look forward to returning later this year, and expect to have another wonderful weekend.

The Inn is in a great location, a very short walk to the Bay where a path next to the water is a wonderful stroll that includes Pacific Grove and Monterey, tide pools, bicycle rentals, etc. It is also walking distance to some shops, good restaurants, and cafes. The staff were fabulous--very friendly and cheerful about accommodating individual needs. The rooms were sparkling clean, if a bit modest. But at this inn you do not need to spend much time in your room, because the sitting room, dining room sun porch, and kitchen room are always available, and tea and snacks are available there all day. Breakfast was very hearty, and the afternoon wine and cheese was a great environment to meet other guests.

Jas was very nice. Wine tasting was good, the hors d' oeuvres were very good. Room was dog friendly, nuff said.

My girlfriend and I arrived in Monterey on Friday November 26th around mid day, we were greeted by a very charming Scottish inn keeper. We checked inn received our room key and were directed to our room. We stayed in the Pelican a nice little cottage all by itself. We walked into the room and the fireplace was already on and the room was nice and cozy. It rained a little bit while we enjoyed our stay but had no affect on the wonderful staff of the inn. They recommended fun things to do that were mostly inside to avoid the rain. We opted for the aquarium the first day and spent a lovely day then enjoyed Hors d'oeuvre served promptly every night and asked what good restaurants were around. We ate dinner and were back in our room. It didn't rain Saturday so we got up around 7:00 i got my morning coffee and we waited till 9:00 for breakfast and I fell in love don't tell my mother but i think his pancakes far surpassed hers. The breakfasts were amazing both days with fresh raspberry waffles and eggnog pancakes. To be honest I could write all day about how wonderful this inn made my one year anniversary, but I have a life and must start my Sunday morning. To wrap this up all i must say is that I loved my time here at the inn and I cant wait to go back again it was a lovely weekend ill never forget.

We stayed at the Inn at 231 Seventeen Mile Drive in November. We have stayed there several times and find it to be consistently excellent, clean, and the staff friendly and helpful. We prefer the decor here to the more 'frilly' Victorian styles that are prevalent in the area. The breakfast was very good and filling. We are very particular (and critical) about B&Bs because we own and operate one near Yosemite (Yosemite Blue Butterfly Inn...also in the arts and crafts style), and found The Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive immaculately clean, nicely decorated, and Jas, the innkeeper, very friendly and helpful. We truly appreciate this because we know first hand how difficult it can be to get good staff and how much work it is, how many hours a day it takes, to do such a good job. We will be back to this inn whenever we go for a 'get-away' to the coast!

We found this to be a comfortable, unpretentious, charming inn. We enjoyed meeting travelers of all ages and some from other countries during the relaxed evening wine and appetizer social. We had selected the room with vaulted ceiling and gas fireplace. Unfortunately the fireplace was not working. When we went to use the hot tub, it also was not available. We made last minute reservations, booking a room online. It was not really available and we were given a different room, much smaller than anticipated. The staff was very friendly. The inn was immaculate, the beds were spectacular, lovely soft linens and extremely comfortable. The best part of B&B's is the wine and cheese reception, meeting friendly people from all over the world is so much fun.

It was a pleasure to stay at the inn and to meet the 2 charming people taking care of us in this charming inn. Breakfast and wine/ hors d'oeuvre were excellent. The room was beautiful, even if the queenbed was somewhat too soft to our taste. I would recommend it .

I make it a habit to stay at B&B when I can. One Hotel is the same as the rest and they don't give me a feeling of where I am. This B&B was wonderful and made even more so by the gracious Inn Keepers. It was a pleasure and an unexpected treasure to find as hospitable people as Jas and Sally. Sally was pure joy and Jas an interesting, intriguing, well traveled Brother from the East. It was my first time at this Inn, but I know not the last. Much of what a B&B has to offer comes with the Inn Keepers. These two were outstanding. Take the time to chat with them, you will be pleasantly surprised. Over all, it was outstanding!!! The staff was very friendly and helpful with information about the area, and the breakfast was fantastic.

I. Pervasive smell of either rotting garbage or the sewer 2. No water pressure in the shower 3. The person who apparently cooked the breakfast was inexplicably rude to me and the breakfast itself was mostly inedible 4. Although I had emailed in plenty of time to cancel one night of a planned 2 night stay, the clerk stated that there was no email until I produced a copy that I had brought, and even then did not acknowledge it.

We were just here with my parents for two night and love it. The inn is quite comfortable and service is the best. The night we arrived they had just set out the evening wines and snacks with other guests in the living room. Sally the night innkeeper was friendly and helped us to our rooms, then poured our wine. The other guests were very nice except for a rude couple with a young child that was being noisy. Sally had politely explained this was an adult time and they might be more comfortable with the child not in the living room. They didn't like that and left, which was good since it quieted down. Most of us talked about where to go eat and she had many suggestions. We picked Passionfish and quite glad we did. The next morning the innkeeper Jas fixed us an unbelievable breakfast of scottish cheese eggs, raspberry and carmel french toast, with apple sausages. It was the best I have ever had at an inn. My mother is very particular about her foods and she even commented on how wonderful it was. I would recommend this comfortable and homey inn to anyone going to Pacific Grove and don't forget to visit the aquarium.

We had a wonderful time at this B&B. We went for a special birthday and had a special time. We enjoyed meeting Jas and eating his spectacular breakfasts and his personal service. We stayed in the Blue Heron room, nice sitting area with beautiful bay view, comfortable bed and nice quality linens and towels. We would definitely come back!

My husband and I spent 3 nights at this B&B and the experience was wonderful. The accommodations were all that the web site promised and more. The breakfasts were gourmet and the Inn keeper, Steve, made us feel like family. The nightly wine with snacks were generous, so much so that we did not eat out the first night. The location allowed us to enjoy the ocean, golf and the City of Pacific Grove: all within walking distance. We were treated so nicely that we cannot wait to return to this site.

We had not really planned our trip to Monterey, but found this B&B when driving around looking for a place to stay one night. The welcome was delightful (wine and appetizers), our room very good for the midweek-rate of 99 $ and the breakfast was indeed gourmet-quality. Had never stayed at a B&B and wanted to try it. We were so glad we did. This was my third trip to the area and we wanted a more relaxed setting to stay in. Steve could not have been more gracious and accommodating. The breakfasts were absolutely amazing!!!!! Would highly recommend this Inn. We were not usually there in the evening since we were visiting with our son in the AF. But Steve made sure there were wonderful foods and wine for the evening social. If we ever get to the area again we will definitely make reservations to stay here.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was to stay at this inn. the innkeepers were about the sweetest, most courteous, and accommodating people I have ever met. The room was wonderful, the service was top notch, and prices were very reasonable. I would recommend this B&B to everyone!

Oh my gosh! I was PLEASANTLY surprised. I have stayed at a lot of nice places before and was very leery about staying at a B&B, but I must tell you that if I am in Monterey again, I will be staying there again. The room was great, Megan and Gary were like my own personal chef, very nice people. We met a lot of other couples during the wine social from 5-7 and during breakfast. I would definatly recommend this place, it is close to everything walking or driving.I really enjoyed the stay! My husband was pleased as well.

Our room was clean and bed was really comfortable. The Inn is conveniently located to various attractions - walking distance to downtown Pacific Grove, the beach, and a very short drive to the aquarium/Cannery Row.

We had a wonderful stay for 2 nights. Innkeeps were wonderful - sweet and welcoming. Room was nicely appointed and we had a private garden which was fantastic for the price we paid. Super convenient to downtown pacific grove and Monterey points (cannery, Aqauarium, etc). Would definitely stay again.

This place demontrates why you stay at a B & B! The inn-keepers were friendly and attentive, creating a warm atmosphere to share with the other guests. The hour'dourves and wine in the evening were a great chance to meet the other guests from around the world. Dianna went out of her way to leave a requested bottle of wine in our room (great selection!) The cottage was extreemly clean and gave us the "retreat" feeling we were looking for. Highly recomend for a romantic getaway!

The lovely rooms are surpassed by the great location in Pacific Grove which is again surpassed by the outstanding friendly hosts at the Inn. If you want comfort, relaxation, and good company, the Inn at 213 Seventeen Mile Drive will not disappoint.

We only had two nights at the Inn, but it was so beautiful. It is so hard when you are booking online to know what you will see when you get there. The landscaping and outside are beautiful. The hosts are wonderful. We only had one breakfast there, and it was so delicious!! We had one of the smaller rooms, but you didn't feel that way at all. The hosts make you feel very welcome and really at home. We didn't spend much time at the Inn as we had never been to the area and had so much to see. It will definitely be on our itinerary the next time we go to that area. Oh, and the bed was really comfortable too!!

We found the Inn on the five star level--clean,comfortable,pleasant--breakfast were exceptionally fine due to Charlie's cooking; Dianna was gracious and made our 3 night stay quite memorable--highly recommended--
