Martine Inn

Just steps from the sparkling blue waters of Monterey Bay, only a couple of blocks from bustling Cannery Row lies a 24 room villa that Bon Appetit considers “one of the best B&B’s in historic homes” and Conde Nast Traveler call a “spectacular place for a romantic getaway”. Welcome to the Martine Inn, built in 1890 as a lavish private residence. Today it’s a meticulously renovated resort where every fixture and furnishing is an authentic Victorian-era antique and each room, many with fireplaces, claw foot tub, and/or views of the waves crashing against the rocks has it’s own unique décor. Morning brings breakfast on silver, crystal and lace, while evening presents wine and hot hors d’oeuvres, antipasto and fruit. Wi-Fi is available throughout and a computer with high-speed connection is in the library. Bathrobes, fresh roses, phone, clock radio, hair dryer and refrigerator adorn each room. All this immediately adjacent to 17 miles of coastal hiking and biking trails and only 3 blocks to the spectacular Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Photo Album

With its outstanding bay view of the waves crashing on the rocks and its 1880 English oak Sheraton style 5-piece bedroom set, the Maries Room is a favorite with Martine Inn guests.
Each room has a silver bridal basket that is filled with fresh fruit daily. The Victoriana Room has an excellent view through arched windows of the waves crashing against the rocks, an 1860's renaissance revival American 5-piece bedroom set, and elegant oriental Victorian decor.
Guests may watch whales, sea otters, birds and sailboats races from our ocean view sitting rooms. With its 1920's American walnut hoof footed 9-piece bedroom set made for the famous costume designer, king sized bed, tub and shower on a raised platform and wood-burning fireplace, the Edith Head Room is another favorite.
The Captains Room has a mahogany wood-burning fireplace, an 1860's captains style 2-piece bedroom set with marble topped drop center dresser, a rare 1840's empire swan mirror and French doors that open onto our landscaped courtyard.
