The garden and rooms at the Kaleidoscope Inn & Gardens are truly delightful. I stayed in the Carriage House which has it's own private garden area as well. The only thing I would caution is that my reservation made through bedandbreakfast.com had trouble getting through to the owners. I would recommend calling ahead of time to confirm the reservation. Even though that happened, the owner was awesome and upgraded my room for the inconvenience. The breakfast in the morning was top-notch and eating it in the garden is highly recommended. Loved every minute of staying here and I recommend it to anyone traveling in California.

Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean. But the house is in a neighborhood hood with several noisy dogs. They weren't noisy at night, it was very quiet, but during the day was another story. Breakfast the first day was great, the second day I couldn't even eat it (prepared by a different person). This is a cute little house and we enjoyed our stay, but the property needs some work/upkeep, and the noisy dogs really should be reported.

Me and my wife stayed here for couple of days and a very pleasant stay. Very polite management. Beautiful garden, good breakfast. I am not one of those folks who easily put 5 stars so 4 stars to all!

Room was very clean, but was in need of a handy man. Paint needed to be touched up, closet door would not stay closed(had to stuff paper under it), had to pull bedroom door firmly to make sure it would stay close. Shower was in bathroom at top floor of house, that has a slanted roof. Husband & son had to hold head sideways to get under water. When it came time for the wedding, the staff turned the backyard into a wonderful venue. We ate 2 breakfast there, and they were good, but my men would have liked to have meat with their meal. At night there was homemade fudge that was delicious.

We arrived to an empty house, however, Kevin came quickly and set us up with locations of interest, directions, reservations adn everything we needed to enjoy our stay and the area. The rooms and bathrooms were very comfortable, the gardens and grounds astounding adn inviting. We would definitley return. The breakfast and the cook were great starts to each day that we were there.

A good value in a town that is mostly forgotten by travelers.

My girlfriend found the Kaleidoscope B & B online and read several reviews, previewed the beautiful property and we thought it would be a charming place to stay. However, nobody mentioned that the house was right in the middle of a Low-income neighborhood. Their brochure showed the lovely 1880’s house and beautiful gardens, but failed to mention that their appeared to be a “Title 8 apartment” right across the street (I own two Title 8 properties so I’m familiar of low-end rental properties). Upon arrival I spoke with the owner Kevin and told him this was not what we expected and didn’t want to stay here. His response was “it’s not the first time he heard that comment but give it some time and you will appreciate the charm” and politely told us that if we cancelled we would have to pay for the first night, so we stayed the first night and cancelled the second night. I’m only 5’9” and I banged my head twice going up the stairs and once in the shower, so I feel sorry for anybody taller than me. I expected more than scrambled eggs and fruit for breakfast but that’s all that was served. Lesson Learned: PREVIEW THE PROPERTY ON GOOGLE MAPS! I’m not sure why the other people writing reviews were not as honest?
