Beautiful and charming B&B with excellent service and wonderful ambience. Conveniently located within walking-distance to Main Streeet in Murphys for dining, shopping, wine-tasting, etc.

We’ve been to many B&B’s, but none as comfortable and welcoming as Dunbar House. We felt so pampered that we didn’t want to leave. The breakfasts and appetizers were amazing, but their homemade Chocolate Decadent Cookies were heavenly! The small touches and attention to detail are what makes this B&B stand out. Thanks Rich & Arline, we’ll be back!

We celebrated my wife's birthday over three days in early April. Booked the Cedar room midweek and had the place to ourselves. Our fabulous breakfasts were served in our room each morning and every afternoon we were greeted with appetizers and a bottle of wine from a local winery. Rich and Arline are great hosts and were very helpful in selecting restaurants and local sightseeing. Would highly recommend the Dunbar House.

My hubby and I stayed at Dunbar to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. This was our first B&B stay, and we loved it! We were the only guests in the house our first night, so we had the whole place to ourselves for Saturday and most of Sunday. Very romantic setting at our B&B and Murphy's is a beautiful and quaint lil gold rush era town (w/tons of wine tasting rooms just a short lil walk from Dunbar House!) Arline and Rich were wonderful hosts and our breakfast and snacks were delicious. Can't wait to go back again!

Dunbar House is everything a B&B should be. The rooms are cozy and warm, the staff are wonderful, the common spaces lovely, the numerous treats keep coming, and breakfast couldn't be better.

We heard this B&B was great but it was better than we had imagined. Five star breakfast and afternoon snacks, a beautiful room with every amenity imaginable and very friendly owners and staff. We can't wait to go there again!

My mom and I stayed at the Dunbar House one night. It was a perfect place and so beautiful. Rich and Arline are the perfect hosts, and they made our stay a joyful experience. We can't wait to go back. It was a place of luxury, but with such tranquility. The breakfast was so wonderful!

In the midst of our busy lives we came upon the Dunbar house in Murphy's. What a gorgeous romantic and peaceful spot. A place of sheer bliss.

Rich and Arline were the perfect hosts. We enjoyed our stay and took advantage of the discounts they offered at the wineries and a local restaurant. Murphys is a wonderful combination of history, wineries and great dining. Dunbar House is a fine example of a historic inn with a relaxing garden setting.

This was our 3rd time at the Dunbar House and it just gets better each time! Terrific amenities - luxurious towels, appetizers and wine in your room, etc., etc. The breakfast is always top notch - all in all an excellent choice of B&Bs. I'm sure we'll be returning!

Outstanding B&B. Attention and pride to every detail. Decor, food, staff, lovely rooms, and garden. We stayed in the Cedar Room, with its own private porch. Wonderful gourmet breakfast and appetizers, refrigerator full of goodies.

We enjoy the atmosphere and decor of the Dnbar House. The daily appetizer and bottle of wine in your room is great. The breakfast is always out of this world. The only disappointment is they didn't appear to remember we satyed with them before during our last anniverary trip.

We had a very nice stay, albeit only one night. The room was wonderful, the bed and bedding excellent. The owners were very attentative. We would definitely stay there again.

The moment we stepped inside Dunbar House, it was like stepping back into 1880 with all the charm, elegance and grace of an era long since passed, where we were greeted warmly by Arline, the owner. We stayed in the Sequoia room which is beautifully decorated with rich burgundy colors. It was fun to experience the room as there were so many wonderful touches throughout, such as instant hot water tap in our room so that we could enjoy the great selection of teas, a delicious homemade appetizer of hummus and thyme toasted pita bread with an array of veggies and fruit, along with a bottle of wine. We laughed when we saw mini floating ducks and frogs in our Jacuzzi. We also found covered boxes tucked in nooks and crannies filled with hidden notes from previous guests. It was like a treasure hunt. We especially loved our morning coffee basket that was delivered outside our door before breakfast. We then enjoyed an unbelievably romantic breakfast in our room alongside the cozy gas burning stove. Everything on our plate was presented beautifully, as well as the outstanding homemade sausage patties! It was so delicious that we ate every crumb. Rich and Arline were always on hand to make sure that we were comfortable and well cared for. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the parlor where we worked on a puzzle and or enjoyed reading in front of the warm, toasty fireplace. We’ve never been so pampered or felt so much at home as we have at Dunbar House. We’ll be back…time and time again!

This is the place we return to time after time to our home-away-from-home. A place to establish friendship & develop our extended family. A place to relax, laugh, and share stories. And to be "Spoiled!"

Rich and Arlene are very pleasant inn keepers. We have stayed there five years in a row and already have our sixth weekend booked.

We've visited the Dunbar House once a year for the past 5 years. The location in Murphys is perfect for wine tasting. You won't go hungry either...there'san appetizer plate and wine when you arrive and of course a delicious breakfast.

Very cozy, delicious food, welcoming people. Excellent! We will be back there.

This has become our favorite B&B. Arline, Richard & staff pull out all of the amenities desired. A historic landmark building with food that looks as good as it tastes. Excellent!

The Dunbar House is elegant, comfortable, spearkling clean and homey. Loved every second of being there. Remarkable breakfast & loved the treat dishes around the house.

My daughter got me this stay as a gift, it was wonderful. Beautiful town, beautiful gardens & room. Wonderful food. Didn't want to leave.

This was our 4th stay, and it felt as though we we're coming home. Enjoyed sitting out on our patio with appetizers and wine, watching the squirrels and falling leaves. Thankfully, the owners and staff are always very accommodating of our special diet, and as always, presented us with outstanding breakfasts.

Had a wonderful time. Beautiful room, loved the porch & gardens. Wine in the room a wonderful surprise. We have already booked for next year.

This is a great place to stay for a romantic getaway. The owners thought of so many little details (book lights at the bedside). Appetizer plate and complimentary bottle of wine were wonderful on arrival. Just a perfect place to stay.

The Dunbar House, as always, is stunning. The breakfast and hors d’oeuvres are delicious and the presentation exquisite. I’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Dunnbar throughout the years; however, my most recent visit was somewhat disconcerting for the following reasons, (i) in past, when you arrived you could smell the aroma of fresh baked cookies waffling throughout the house, with a plate in the dining area waiting for your indulgence. However, under new ownership they thought it be best to provide guest with two (2) cookies on a plate in your room, to ensure equal opportunity for all. The cookies did not appear to be homemade but that from Toll House cookie dough sold at your local supermarket, and (ii) on our second night, around 10pm, we were startled by loud noise (laughter and music) coming from the parlor, which lasted until 12:30pm. The next morning, we discovered the owners were responsible for this inconsiderate behavior. They apparently planned this social event with their friends who were staying at the house as guest. The friends/guests who were part of this loud group apologized to us; however, the owners who could hear our displeasure did not, which speaks volumes of their demeanor and how they value their guest(s). It’s important to know, my husband took me to the Dunbar House as a surprise to celebrate our first year anniversary, thinking it would be a quiet, romantic getaway, but to our surprise it was anything but that. With regrets, I will no longer stay at the Dunbar House in the future, nor recommend it to anyone. Hopefully with this review, the owners will change their behavior and make the Dunbar House what it once was.

We have owned Dunbar House, 1880 for almost six years, and have prided ourselves on offering our valued guests a unique bed and breakfast experience. Please accept our sincere apologies, as we are sorry that your experience was less than favorable. More than that, we are sorry that you did not choose to make us aware of your discomfort on Saturday night by either calling us (we did not receive any message on our voice mail) or addressing us in person. At no time were we aware or privy to any conversation you may have had with other guests. If we were aware at that point in time, it is our policy to handle issues immediately. Most of the registered guests returned from a local area activity around 10 p.m. and migrated to the parlor, thus creating an impromptu gathering, and we were invited to join our guests. These repeat guests, who come for certain events each year, get to know one another, and enjoy an opportunity to mingle. It was not our intention, nor that of the other guests in the house, to have made your stay uncomfortable. It is true that we no longer offer cookies on a plate in the dining room, as we found that guests who arrive late most times did not get cookies. We have been providing our guests with the same cookies year after year, but we now present our freshly baked cookies on a silver tray lined with white doilies in each room at 3 pm so that all our guests receive our afternoon hospitality. It is our hope that you will consider revisiting Dunbar House again, as we believe you will have an entirely different experience.

This inn was exceptional! I've never had such fantastic breakfasts. The room was lovely -- the bed was heavenly. The gardens were gorgeous. Couldn't have found a better place. It was perfect!

This was not only a great B&B but town and location was ideal. The gourmet breakfast was almost too pretty to eat. The owners left nothing out. Even had cleaner for or car windshields out front.

Wonderful! The Dunbar House is a relaxing place to stay. The rooms are all cute with great bath tubs. This is our favorite B&B.

The best B&B experience we've ever had. The staff was extremely attentive, there were great extras like the appetizer plate in the afternoon and the DVDs and books which were available. The breakfast was amazing each day. Great location in the middle of Murphys.

Two night stay - Superb breakfast! Had the view and direct access to the garden from the Cedar Room. This was our third visit and have always enjoyed the hospitality of the innkeepers and owners. Plenty of wineries in the area and enjoyed Big Trees State Park hikes.

Our stay at the Dunbar House was by far our most enjoyable stay at a B&B. Our room, the Sequoia was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfasts were delicious, and the owners and staff: outstanding!!

The Dunbar House is always a getaway to look forward to. Relaxing, great food, and great people. The atmosphere and grounds just add a whole new meaning to the word "relax". You must go!

Quiet getaway nestled in foothills of the Siena- gourmet breakfasts and all the extras that make for a relaxing time. Highly recommended!

This place was beautiful! From the moment you walked up through the lush garden, to your unbelievably beautiful room, it was a treat to all of your senses. I want to go back!!

The Dunbar House was so relaxing and nice, I could have stayed forever. The food was top notch and beautiful. It was the best getaway we've ever had. I will go back, many times.

Dunbar House is so wonderful. We go back there every year for our anniversary, and can't imagine spending our anniversary anywhere else. Rich, Arline and their staff are always gracious and welcoming. We have stayed in each room and find them all equally intimate and cozy. The attention to detail throughout the house is amazing, and the gardens are spectacular . We have now learned to bring our camera to breakfast with us because the breakfasts are presented so beautifully, and they are scrumptious. We will definitely go back again, and again, and again!

Arline greeted us on arrival and showed us all the amenities of the Inn and all the special features of our room. We had snacks and a bottle of champagne waiting for us the first day and more snacks and a bottle of wine the next day. The food was way beyond our best expectations with the presentation absolutley stunning. We highly recommend this B & B. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with lots of private areas to sit and read or talk or jsut enjoy the beautiful flowers and shrubs. We have stayed at many different B & Bs in the 42 years we have been married but we move this one to the top of the list.

We thoroughly enjoyed our getaway at the Dunbar House! From the exquisite breakfasts in the lush garden to quiet afternoons reading on the porch, our experience was a very restful and renewing one.
