Mendocino Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast
-
The Mendocino Farmhouse is secluded in a redwood forest. The Main house and Barn Cottage are nestled in the garden next to a pond.
The Farmhouse and barn were built for my family in 1976 out of a five acre parcel of land that was logged to make a clearing for the house and barn. The gardens were finished a few years later after much work and lots of mulch and horse manure. There were milk goats in the barn and a big vegetable garden. Now the vegetables have been replaced with flowers and berries and the barn was converted to rooms in 1987 with the help of my sons in the construction.
Hi, I'm Margie and I have been cooking in this kitchen for the past 26 years. First for my family and now for the Inn for 17 years. My story to guests if they happen into the kitchen at breakfast is, "It's always in a state of chaos at breakfast, but then after everyone is served it gets cleaned and ready for the next one. I like to make all my own jams from the plentiful supply of berries that I get from my garden every year. I guess you would say I've got the whole breakfast thing down!¿
John¿s room is our largest room with a fireplace. King and twin bed for a third person. Bath has large tub and shower, coffee maker in the room. ¿John's room is so spacious and open. It was perfect for my family and myself. Loved all the books and the fireplace." - The Three Sisters
As you can see by this picture we really are surrounded by forest, open meadows, beautiful gardens and a pond. This is why it is so quiet at the Farmhouse. We are just 1.5 miles from Mendocino but far from all the bustling activities of town. This location also keeps us out of the fog most of the time and the trees protect us from the North wind.

Mendocino Farmhouse is nestled in a private forest setting just minutes from the village of Mendocino, surrounded by beautiful gardens with open meadows and a pond. The farmhouse is filled with comfortable antique furnishings, wallpapered rooms, flowers, and an eclectic collection of books and music. All rooms have private baths and some have fireplaces. The barn cottage, located across from the farmhouse features two rooms, each with private baths and stone fireplaces in a separate sitting area. Each room has its own private entrance. After you have spent a very restful night's sleep in one of our comfortable rooms you will wake up to a hearty farmhouse breakfast.

The inn keeper Marggie met me at the door and was very welcoming. I loved the land and the coziness. The breakfast Margie made the next day was great! She was kind without being intrusive.. Because it was winter she gave me a great price.

Beautiful place in the middle of the redwoods, but 10 min away from Mendocino. We stayed at the Cedar room in the barn, and it is a very cozy room with fireplace. Breakfasts were great, home backed by the owner, frequently using their own eggs. The only thing to improve is that they do not have wifi in the barn rooms (they've got it in the other tooms), and their is no cell coverage from AT&T in the area.

This was the second time we have stayed at the Farmhouse and again it was a wonderful relaxing time. I love that the property is so beautiful and quiet. The breakfast in the mornings were wonderful. We stayed in the Pine room this time and really enjoyed having the fireplace, it adds such warmth to the room. If you are thinking about the possibility of staying here, please do, you will not be disappointed. Thank you again for a wonderful stay! Paul & Roberta

Our weekend at the farmhouse was just what we needed. It was so quiet and relaxing. No TV was great. My husband and I caught up on our busy lives by just talking for hours. The rooms are great, the food was wonderful and Sage, the dog, was a great addition.

5 out of 5Peaceful, adorable, secluded farmhouse

I've stayed here twice now, both times in Karin's Room, amd LOVE it!! When you drive up to her house you are immediately welcomed by an adorable little white fence surrounding a cute little garden. Her golden labrador often greets you here too! There is even a porch with a little white swing. The house is 2 stories with some rooms on each level, and all with private baths (but one room has the bath across the hall). Karin's room is large, has a very comfortable queen bed, small couch & coffee table, and in-room private bath (or shower I should say) with sink/vanity in the bedroom corner. The decor is typical farmhouse style, not the antiquated victorian style found in many other B&Bs I've stayed at. Breakfast is always AMAZING! I've had Marge's baked eggs, french toast, quiche, homemade blackberry muffins, and homemade granola. Guests sit in pairs at tables scattered throughout her beautifully arranged & decorated living room & dinning room, or you can eat out on the large patio overlooking a lovely garden. I enjoy walking around outside in the afternoon. There are often deer grazing in her lawn, and she lets the chickens out to eat in the afternoon in her personal fenced-in garden across the driveway from the B&B. It's incredibly peaceful & relaxing. The town center of Mendicino is a quick 5min drive away, so the location can't be beat. For the price, it's really a great value, and I can't wait for my next visit!

Beautiful open space in the redwoods. Charming gardens, comfortable quiet rooms, excellent breakfasts with fresh fruit at the peak of ripeness, wonderful baked goods and something from Marge's garden included at every breakfast. Excellent host. We felt very much at home and would most definitely come back. We even saw deer in the meadow one morning!
4.8 out of 5B&B in the woods

As we are driving in, we come face to face with a small deer. It just looked at us and went back to eating the grass. Cute, clean little house in the woods with lots of flowers. Very inviting main room. Had a binder of menus from different restaurants in the area which helped us decide where to go for dinner. Quiet and cool at night. Innkeeper was very friendly and made a great breakfast. Want to get away from it all, this is the place.
