Nest B&B on the North Coast

    November 28, 2012

There are a lot of very nice B&Bs in the Mendocino area and I've stayed at many of them. Once I stayed at the Joshua Grindle I stopped looking and have been a repeat guest for years. The owners, Charles and Cindy REALLY care about their guests and go all out to assure them a satisfactory stay. Many innkepers just put in the effort to get the booking and just do the minimum once the guest is booked. Not here. The gracious inkeepers go way beyond the norm in tending to guests without being at all intrusive. If you need reservations or recommendations or even an oddball request such as where to find an auto parts store that is open on Sunday, they will have an answer for you quickly. Need a beach hike and get some delicious sandwiches to take with you? They will plan it for you. Want to find some local Jazz or Reggae? If it's in town they will find it for you. The rooms are immaculate and well provisioned. The breakfasts are GREAT. Don't take my word for it, just read any review. Location and on site parking are optimal, It's only a block from downtown and you can park just steps from the building. Most inns only have street parking. So many guests we meet are return customers and that tells you a lot. They will have my loyalty forever. They earn it every time I stay there.

    2nd time back, outstanding!

    January 19, 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights in the winter of 2009, and stayed 4 nights this time around. The Library Room is amazing - old books from the late 1800s and encyclopedias from the 1960s. And a real fireplace. Cindy and Charles's breakfasts are unbeatable, and their kind hospitality are second to none! A true gem.

    A most relaxing holiday

    November 07, 2010

This was our fifth visit to the Joshua Grindle Inn. Each visit has been a delight. The house is lovely and the garden is a marvel. The level of service provided by Cindy and Charles is exemplary. Their attention to detail, their expertise and their discreet but efficient management of the place is a pleasure. The breakfast is always delicious, elaborate and never the same. The inn is located in the village of Mendocino, which offers a unique blend of tranquility, beauty and sophistication. The restaurants, art galleries and wineries in the area are first rate. We plan many more visits.

Cosy, immaculate inn with attentive hosts and very fine breakfast

    November 01, 2010

Lovely inn with a variety of accomodation within walking distance of restaurants and stores and the Mendocino coastal trail. Loved the working woodstove in the watertower room and appreciated the bottle of wine in our room on arrival. Romantic, safe, cosy with a very good location.
