This was our second visit to Bella Villa Messina, and we definitely will make it a yearly treat. Harold and Jerry are hosts extraordinaire! We felt part of the family on the first visit, and even more so on our second. We visited several new wineries and they welcomed us as "Jerry's Kids." We re-visited two of the restaurants from last year and they thanked us profusely for returning. We cannot think of a better place to stay anywhere!! Elegant, charming, relaxing.

Bella Villa Messina contributed to many great memories on my first visit to wine country. Jerry and Harold really know how to take care of their guests! Whether it's the breathtaking views, home-cooked breakfasts, cocktail hours (wine and cheese galore!), friendly dogs, lamas or the savvy wine advice.. they have you covered! Jerry is well-known and connected with many of the wineries. Therefore, we had complimentary tastings everywhere we went. He also goes out of his way to help you map out which wine trail best fits your palate and locks down any dinner reservations for you in advance. Although, Healdsburg is beautiful... I might go back just to visit Bella Villa Messina. :)

We stayed with Jerry & Harold for my wife's birthday. They create the best B&B experience: wonderful hosts, elegant decor, big dining table so there is interaction with the other guests while enjoying delicious home cooked breakfasts and the wine & cheese in the afternoon is great.

What a wonderful place to stay in the wine country. Jerry and Harold welcome you like family. All the guests gather at 5 for the cocktail hours and jerry puts out a spread of wines and cheeses. His French toast for breakfast is the best I ever had. Inn is very conveniently located. Jerry provided an excellent itinerary and driving directions for a productive day of wine tasting and buying . I've stayed here three times and will definitely be back! Thanks jerry and Harold. Linda and Denise

Great experience. Felt like we were in the country but only a few minutes from the main strip in Healdsburg. If in the area again, we would stay here again.

Our stay was fantastic! The room was beautiful - very nicely decorated and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. And the breakfast was very good. Jerry was super helpful and we only saw Harold once but he was also very cordial. We will likely stay again in the future.

We once again came for our annual pilgrimage to wine country and stayed at arguably the best B & B in the Sonoma area Bella Villa Messina (BVM). Jerry and Herald were as always the perfect hosts giving us valuable information about the wineries’ and tasting rooms throughout the area and the best restaurants to dine at. This is the perfect place to come and spend a week excursing to all the events throughout Sonoma and Napa. BVM is a gorgeous reproduction of a Tuscan Villa with lovely rooms and pillow tops beds. The breakfasts are wonderful with fruit and great dishes like Hawaiian French toast and Jerry’s Frittata just to name a few. They have an endless knowledge of the history on the area and have become valued friends. We feel like we are visiting family when we come to BVM. Come once and you will come again. This is our seventh year and we plan on continuing to return every year to our home away from home in California.

Bella Villa Messina was a great place to stay and very conveniently located for our 2 nights in Healdsburg. Jerry had tons of advice for wineries to visit and restaurants to dine at. Breakfasts were fabulous and the late afternoon wine and cheese gathering was a fun time to gather with other guests and share the day's adventures with one another. Jerry also took care of shipping our wine purchases home for us. Highly, highly recommend staying here!

Jerry's breakfasts (we, like others, also loved his French toast) are wonderful, as is his advice. We planned two great days and all of his recommendations were spot-on. We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at this lovely B&B after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. The owners are great, and make you feel like one of the family. It is located near town, and within minutes of many fantastic Sonoma wineries. The service was great and the rooms lovely!

Jerry and Harold, are always gracious host, know how to direct their guest to events, resturants that would suit them best. That really make you feel as part of their family. Breakfast is delightful, accomations are luxurious. This is the place to stay in Sanoma wine country.

As a former airline employee, my wife and I still travel quite a bit. Bella Villa Messina is, by far, the best "Bed and Breakfast" establishment we have used. The facillities and grounds are exceptional. The best part is the very personal service given by the owners, Jerry and Harold. This is the "real deal" for anyone planning "that special getaway." Also, if you go, use Jerry's excellent recommendations for local restaurants, sightseeing, and entertainment.

We stayed at Bella Villa Messina for a long weekend to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We normally stay in hotels rather than B&Bs, so this was a different experience for us. We couldn't have been more pleased; the addition of a host and the social events around breakfast and cocktails added another dimension to our trip that we really enjoyed. Jerry is a great cook, an enthusiastic connector, and runs a very clean, beautiful place that we'd recommend to anyone. 5 stars all the way.

The breakfasts were exceptional. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Jerry was very helpful with suggestions on wineries to visit. He also arranged for our wine to be shipped home to us. Thanks Jerry.

My wife and I have stayed in many B&B's over the past 10 years but never have we had such an amazing experience as we had staying at BVM. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed we encountered a 5 star experience. Harold and Jerry were the best hosts ever. From their amazing breakfasts, their fun happy hours, their immaculate rooms, and their expert advice about the area and wineries, there was not a bad minute in the five nights we were there. BRAVO HAROLD & JERRY

My wife and I have only regret about our stay; it was only one night. The wine and cheese at 5:30 was a great way to meet other guests and compare notes on wine tastings and dining. Jerry was very well informed about wine tastings, restaurants and activities throughout Sonoma County. The breakfast French toast, fruit and bacon were delicious and plentiful..

I was in the San Francisco area for work and only had one free night, and was lucky enough to get the Italian room at Bella Villa Messina due to a last minute cancellation by another guest. Jerry and Harold were amazing hosts, sharing great stories, and recommending the best vineyards and restaurants. Cocktail hour was a wonderful way to get to know Jerry, Harold and the other guests. Breakfast was deliciously prepared by Jerry. Don't miss it!! Bella Villa Messina is centrally located to the best vineyards. I have recommended it to all of my colleagues that are traveling out to the San Francisco area and planning to go to wine country, and I am already planning a return visit in 2014! Jerry and Harold, thank you so much for your hospitality! Annette

From the moment we turned into the driveway we knew that staying at the Bella Villa Messina would be a special experience. Jerry/Harold were exceptional hosts who graciously navigated our 3 day stay in wine country. Happy hour was a highlight each day, with meeting new people and sharing of stories. Jerry was there to make dinner recommendations and then setting up the reservations. Breakfast was a treat with the fresh fruit, and prepared dishes that would rival only the finest hotels. Our personal favorite was the Hawaiian French Toast. Breakfast was also the time Jerry would map out our day and help pick the wineries that would give us the best value. With Jerry's "cards" we were treated like family at each winery we visited, "Jerry's kids" is how we'd be referred. Overall, this was a bed and breakfast experience that we would strongly recommend!
5 on October 03, 2013
This B&B experience was simply outstanding. We felt like the personal guests of Jerry and Harold. Jerry went overboard in assuring that we had a great visit, helping us plan our winery visits, giving us dining recommendations, and making our dinner reservations. Not only was the room delightful, but the breakfasts were simply fantastic. The french toast was my favorite. Wherever we visited in the area we were given VIP treatment as soon as we handed them one of Jerry's cards. We will stay here again whenever we are in the area.

Jerry and Harold are your hosts at Bella Villa Messina B&B. Their home is absolutely beautiful. It is warm and inviting, and it sure is nice that Jerry cooks breakfast every morning for his guests (and what a chef he is). He also hosts cocktail hour every afternoon. Jerry is incredibly knowledgeable of the area, sending you to the best places to visit and dine. His picks for wineries and restaurants were on the money and his friendships with the owners of all of the restaurants gets you reservations for where and when you want. I stayed here for two nights, and I have to say that when I left, I felt sad. It really was like leaving family. Jerry and Harold treat you like they've known you your whole life. I'll be back next year. ps: my only "complaint" is that my visit should have been three nights instead of two. The extra night would have allowed me to see a lot more (as well as test out another of Jerry's breakfasts).

My husband and I recently stayed in the Asti Room which was large and comfortable with a great balcony and views of the surrounding hills in Healdsburg. Harold and Jerry were wonderful hosts and it felt like we were visiting friends. The breakfasts were delicious and very accommodating to each of our tastes and dietary needs. We have found a very special place in this beautiful wine country and look forward to our return.

My husband and I normally stay at hotels on our vacations. For a number of reasons, we were somewhat unimpressed with the choices that were available in the Healdsburg area so decided to give Bella Villa Messina a try. Needless to say, we did not regret our decision! The Villa is located only minutes from the town's Main Street as well as the wineries of the surrounding areas. We stayed in the Burgundy Room which was the perfect size for a couple - queen sized bed, own shower/tub, own fireplace in a quiet corner on the top floor. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels provided. Jerry and Harold were lovely and gracious hosts and known at a number of the wineries. Jerry's breakfasts were to die for. The Hawaiian Bread French Toast was a must. He even woke up exceptionally early to make us Eggs Benedict before our early departure. Their knowledge of the wineries in the area and tailored itineraries were exceptionally helpful for Sonoma newbies like us. We will be returning to Bella Villa Messina and highly recommend you schedule your stay there as well!!

Very clean rooms, great food and a wonderful happy hour with wine and cheese. jerry and Harold are always helpful, plus they have great tips about where to go for the wine deals. I mentioned Jerry's name at one winery and they gave me 30% off, We will stay with them again.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like personal guests of Jerry & Harold. Jerry went out of his way to assure that our needs were met. Each morning after a delicious breakfast he would sit down with each of his guests & help us plan our day, giving great recommendations for lunch & best wineries to visit. And then one of the best surprises was that he took care of shipping all the wine we bought!

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Bella Villa Messina recently in the Burgundy room. This was our first time staying at a B&B and we picked this place based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. Well, the ranking of #1 is truly bang on and we enjoyed everything about this wonderful B&B. The burgundy room was lovely, comfy bed and very clean. From the moment we arrived at the Villa Jerry and Harold made us feel right at home. The breakfast was wonderful and different every morning with a fantastic 360 view of the mountains. Jerry was a tremendous help in suggesting and mapping out what wineries to visit, where to eat lunch and dinner. He even provided us with a cooler, ice and water for us to have a picnic at one of the wineries. Plus, we really enjoyed the cocktail hour each night with great wine and wonderful cheeses, olives, nuts, etc while we mingled outside watching the sunset – it was just magical! We really recommend Bella Messina – you can’t go wrong staying here!!!

I never write reviews but in this case I just had to. Bella Villa was amazing in every single possible way! Jerry and Harold are the most gracious amazing hosts one will ever come across. The cheese and wine happy hour is among the highlights of the visit, getting to meet some of the others on vacation and just hanging with Jerry and Harold over looking beautiful views is priceless. The room was perfect, clean, extremely comfortable and very beautiful. The breakfast was some of the best we had on the entire trip, having Hawaiian french toast with fresh fruit and a just brewed cup of coffee you just couldn't beat it. Jerry and Harold know a lot of people in the area and have wonderful ideas and places to see and visit, so getting some advice from them is the way to go. This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and I am going to have a tough time finding a better bed and breakfast than this place. Also on top of all it was my girlfriends Bday and we were flying from the East coast, Jerry took the time out of his day to grab me some flowers and leave them in the room with a nice little bday card as a surprise from me while walking into the room (How amazing is that?!). All in all this is the the PERFECT place to stay!

My husband and I vacationed in Napa Valley for a week and the Bella Villa Messina was one of our favorite bed and breakfasts. Jerry and Herold are two of the best hosts we have ever met, they treat you like family from the moment you walk in the door. They even accommodated my dietary restrictions with gluten, dairy and soy and made fabulous breakfast each morning. Jerry was very helpful with providing great information about things to do in the area and discount coupons to save us money. Staying at Bella Villa Messina was a beautiful and relaxing experience that we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area. It was one of the highlights of our vacation!

We stayed at Bella Villa Messina two nights in August. The rooms are all very nicely appointed -- we stayed in one of the smaller rooms but it was very comfortable. Jerry makes a great breakfast and the wine and cheese happy hours are excellent. Jerry and Harold are great hosts. The villa is quite nice and located close to Healdsburg. Jerry is happy to help with itinaries, restaurant and sightseeing recommendations. This was certainly one of the best B&B stays we've had.

My husband and I celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary in Healdsburg. We were very pleasantly surprised by how hospitable and accommodating Jerry and Harold were. They prepared fantastic breakfasts for us and when it came for us to leave, we didn't want to! Their house is beautifully renovated and all in all just a terrific venue for us to have celebrated a special occasion. We hope to come back before the year is over!

We stayed at Bella Villa Messina for our annIversary in June. It was a very pleasant stay with Jerry an Harold. Jerry is very knowledgeabe about vineyards and restaurants nearby and cooked wonderful breakfast. we loved wine tasting every afternoon at Bella Villa Messina. i was attracted to Harold's collection of car models and amazed by his classic Rolls and Lincoln Limousines. He was telling me so much about old cars and as a result of this, i am now very activey looking for a classic car and will likely end up with a 1968 Rolls. What funny thing is that their three dogs' tea time everyay is for carrot and cabbage! Amazing dogs. Not forget mentioning two beautiful Llamars they have in backyard.

We found him very hospitable and informative. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

We were put in their "over-flow" room when they booked up (I did not know that a room for $220/night would be this bad)... I was not desperate to stay there until Harold made it seem like the room was a best kept secret and people knew to ask for it by name. The only thing I was asking for in the end was my money back. I read all of the reviews on-line and figured they must have a pretty great place with as many 5 star ratings and rave reviews. I was told that the room we stayed in (once we complained) was not usually booked and Jerry didn't like putting people in that room. SO WHY DO IT THEN? We would have been much better off not staying there at all! Somehow they turned the situation around to blaming us saying they did us a favor by letting us stay there and that they didn't need our business but didn't seem to be too proud when they charged us $500 for 2 nights. If they wanted to do us a favor they should have given full disclosure by sending photos and a description of what the room situation was. Instead they told me to look on the website as a reference but the room we were put in was not where NEAR the quality of the rooms on-line and it felt like a bait and switch. The owners blamed us saying we should have known better than to stay there but how could we possibly know that someone would rent a room like that? Aside from the obvious issues (shower 30 feet from room in another building), air conditioner not working well and had to leave on all night and the room was a sauna during the day, and the 360 fishbowl effect caused by not having any privacy... the room itself was NOT up to the standard they held in the house but somehow they charged us the same as the rooms that were inside with their own shower, fireplace, nice furniture, no cars driving around their room... how is that fair?

This was a wonderful place to stay to enjoy the wine country. Our hosts, Jerry and Harold are just wonderful people whom gave you suggestions on wineries to visit, country views and drive to go on and places for dinner. We were treated like family and had a great time. We could not have picked a better place in the Healdsberg area to stay! We will be back and I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area. You will not be disappointed.

The Villa was beautiful. Jerry and Harold were exceptional hosts, It was as if they had invited us to their house for a long weekend! We so enjoyed meeting them and the other guests, and chatting at cocktail hour (where wine flowed heavily and cheeses were outstanding.) Jerry was the best at making us last minute reservations based on how we were feeling that evening. What a great thing to be able to just go with the flow and not have every minute pre-planned! When he tells you not to worry about planning ahead, listen to him! He'll take care of everything. The breakfasts were amazing. Jerry was so excited to hear about our evenings at breakfast and then help plan our day. If you want to score big points with Harold, tell him Mack & Mabel is your favorite musical ever:) We had a fabulous time and can't wait to go back! Healdsburg is a delightful little down and so close and convenient. There's a great store there to get a picnic lunch (Big John's??) We rented bicycles and did our own sip and cycle tour. A little ambitious but we made it! We also went swimming at the Francis Ford Coppola winery - that was decadent! I can't say enough wonderful things about Jerry, Harold and Bella Villa Messina. (And Bandit & Wakkim the llamas, and Bernice, Basil and I can't remember the other dog's name:( We'll definitely go back!!

Our stay at Bella Villa Messina was like being enveloped into a favorite family member's home for a short visit. Jerry and Harold were exemplary hosts - they went above and beyond to make our stay outstanding. Each evening they hosted a casual wine and cheese hour to discuss the various outings of each visitor's day and share thoughts on dining in Healdsburg, wine tours, winery tastings, and even the local flora and fauna. Each morning we were treated to a lavish display of gorgeous fruits and THE BEST COFFEE as Jerry masterfully created an amazing breakfast. (My favorite breakfast during our three day stay was the Hawaiian french toast!). During this incredible breakfast, Jerry would regale us with stories and offer suggestions, directions and guidance for our outings that day. He guided on mapping our adventures throughout the wineries in the area, but if we just wanted to visit Lake Sonoma for photographing local landscapes, he provided us with detailed maps, the best place to pack a lunch for a picnic and where to find the idyllic spot to eat it! As newcomers to the wine country, we especially appreciated their generosity of spirit in sharing everything they could to help make this a great trip. A few of the other guests were repeat customers to the Inn who still benefitted and enjoyed the suggestion and guidance of our hosts. The experience was pleasurable and memorable all the way around. This B&B is a bit north of the town and tucked into a residential area. We were initially hoping to be within walking distance of the town center, but instead enjoyed the easy access to Dry Creek area and roads leading to the north wineries, as well as Russian River valley. I liked feeling a bit tucked away during our stay. My only suggestion is that while all the rooms are wonderful, knowing what I know now I wish I had booked one of the rooms that offered a balcony (the views are incredible)

The Most Outstanding B&B we have ever stayed in. Jerry & Harold treated you as Family..only better. Drew maps, told you how & where to go on your daily adventures. Bella Villa Messina is a great place to stay if you're exploring the wineries of Dry Creek or Alexander Valleys, or just want to relax and enjoy the many shops and restaurants in the Healdsburg area. Harold and Jerry are fine hosts, making everyone feel welcome and making your stay comfortable. Their gourmet breakfasts and evening cocktail hour are not to be missed. Even the many antiques and works of art displayed in the house are amazing. Jerry is a great source of information about the area wineries, and you'll get personalized recommendations that are always on target. He knows the area and the people, and is well enough connected to make sure his guests are treated in first class style. The house itself, and the rooms, are well equipped, spacious and comfortable. There's plenty of room to spread out inside or out on the patio, and the views from every side are breathtaking. In short, if you're staying in the Healdsburg area, this is the place to be.

Loved our stay at Bella Villa Messina. We went there to spend the weekend in the wine country for our 30th wedding anniversary. Their home is beautiful and filled with interesting antiques. We stayed in the Italian room and it was spotless. The wine/cheese in the evening and the breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Jerry is the consummate host and made our whole stay memorable. Jerry is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great recommendations for dining and wine tasting. Next time we go to Healdsburg, we will look no further than Bella Vista Messina. They make you feel like royalty.

Ever since we first discovered Bella Villa Messina 3 years ago, we've come back to stay there twice a year. The breakfasts are fabulous, the rooms are always clean, the beds are comfy (the sheets smell divine), and the delicious aromas of your breakfast will gently wake you up in the morning. In the evening, the hosts (Jerry and Harold), serve Sonoma wine and "nibbles" as the sun goes down. (You won't believe the beautiful colors painted by the sunset coming through the panoramic windows of the dining room.) And Jerry is extremely knowledgeable about all the wineries in Sonoma and he can help you plan your day, loan you a small cooler for picnic lunch (which you can pick up at Big John's Market), and provide you with a map and cards that will get you a free tasting.

This B and B is by far the finest we have ever experienced in the USA! The hosts, Jerry and Harold, are warm, gracious, and clearly enjoy their role as hosts. Every restaurant and winery they referred us to was effusive in their praise of Bella Villa Messina. Breakfasts were gourmet gourmet! We look forward to returning again and again. Linda and Robert

Jerry and Harold were exceptional hosts and gracious sharing their beautiful home. If you want to have a fun, relaxing, comfortable, clean, accommodating experience in beautiful Sonoma Country, you have to select Bella Villa Messina. Jerry will help you find anything to do. You will feel like a part of the family with Jerry and Harold. The three dogs are a bonus. We just loved staying here and will be back!!

Bella Villa is sitting atop a hill with some amazing views and is within a very short drive to Healdsburg. We thought the rooms were clean and well appointed. The best part of Bella Villa is Jerry Messina though. What a great guy! He referred us to the best restaurants and knows everything about the area. He directed us to some of the best lesser known wineries as well and made us an incredible breakfast. He makes you feel like you are part of his home, rather than staying in a generic hotel. It was a good stay. We highly recommend Bella Villa Messina if you are looking for a home away from home!

Loved staying at Bella Villa Messina and will book there next time. Jerry is so well informed about the area and helped us with dinner reservations and complimentary wine tasting tickets. His eggs Benedict breakfast is amazing. The house is filled with lovely antiques and each guest suite has beautiful decor. We had a four poster bed in our room and I saw another bedroom with a four poster bed too.

This B&B is just 5 minutes from downtown Healdsburg and one of the few in the area that welcomes one-night stays over a weekend plus they're pet friendly with no fee. Views are stunning. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented upon antique & vintage silver serveware. Jerry & Harold are the most gracious of hosts -- and their trio of carin/westie terriers a delightful plus. Italian Room is on the east side and you can hear cars from 101, but it did not interfere with sleep. We'll definitely return.
5 on February 27, 2013
Jerry's hospitality is outstanding. By far the best B&B experience. Good value too.

We make an annual trip to Healdsburg and have had many good experiences. Bella Villa Messina was the Best!!! for genuine hospitality, location, breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese. We also love the fact that they have excellent access to the world of electronics. We look forward to a repeat visit to Bella Villa Messina.

This vacation spot was a wonderful experience. Jerry's breakfast was amazing; it had the best french toast, it was delicious. He always had a big smile on his face and had the best attitude towards everyone. He was willing to help and give us great advice at any time. I recommend this place highly! I will come back to this place again without a hesitate! I loved it!

We spent one night at Bella Villa Messina and it was perfect! Beautiful location, the room was modern and clean. Nice full size, deep bathtub. The hosts were extremely gracious. The breakfast was great, much more than a couple pastries. Will definitely return.

Jerry and Harold are the most gracious hosts. There hospitality is second to none.

Great place, the view is fabulous and the home made French toast even better. Jerry and Harold are great hosts. We definitely recommend Bella Villa Messina.

This is the best bed and breakfast we have stayed in . We felt at home thanks to Jerry ( one of the owners) who made our weekend stay memorable. Rooms are big and elegantly decorated with a theme. Jerry also was very helpful in giving us wine tasting vineyard suggestions and places to visit during our stay. He went the extra step for us. The grounds of the bed and breakfast are lavish and impeccable just like the interior. Will be back soon

For the past five years I have started a tradition to go to California wine country on a "couples trip"! This is our annual get away from our children and enjoy our family and friends without their children! It takes alot of planning due to our group getting larger! We had 5 couples. We wanted to have the B&B experience and be in the country away from it all. I could not have picked the perfect place. The Bella Villa Messina offers the B&B experience with class!! Jerry, the owner of the Bella, was not only the most amazing host but also made us feel right at home. He always had great breakfasts but his wine and cheese in the evening were devine. Yes I can go on and on about what a great experience we had, but if you are looking for a true get away and still feel at home...this is the place for you.

We have stayed at many B & B's in our 25 years of marriage, we've never felt more at home than we did at Bella Villa Messina. Our highlights include Jerry (the innkeeper) personally escorting us in his 64 convertible Cadillac on wine weekend. Also, the wonderful homemade southern breakfasts were awesome. After a long day we looked forward to cocktail hour with our wonderful hosts Jerry & Harold. The room was wonderful we had a nice fireplace and jacuzzi tub. Life is short and I always say, there is so many places to visit why go back to the same place twice. I think I've changed my mind after staying here because I felt like I was at home. I would definitely recommend Bella Villa Messina as one of my top B & B's to stay!!!

Stayed 3 nights at Bella Villa Messina. This B&B should have the word "Tranquility" attached to it's name. The room was quieter than most we have stayed in and our room was wonderfully clean with comfy pillows and bed. We loved the serene setting. The B&B sits high on a hill overlooking Sonoma Valley in all directions. There is a wrap around deck so we could sit and enjoy our morning coffee or afternoon wine. Our hosts were wonderful. Jerry knows his wine and food and made suggestions and arrangements for us daily. Fresh fruits accompanied our morning breakfasts which were always delightful. Cheese and wine in the afternoon was a nice treat. For a fabulous B&B experience we recommend Bella Villa Messina - M&C K

Gorgeous property with fantastic views. Impeccable hospitality. Would definitely visit again.

The home is lovely, the view from the Asti room beautiful (albeit slightly blocked by trees) and the hospitality WONDERFUL. If you love lots of conversation and stories over a DELICIOUS, GORGEOUS breakfast and evening wine and cheese with TONS of southern hospitality, then stay here. Everything is clean, works as it should, and all the details are represented..right down to the chocolates on the kitchen counter and the orchids and silver tea sets in the dining room. Jerry was lovely, even helped us make dinner reservations during a VERY busy weekend just hours before we were leaving. He also helped us craft our wine charter.. Though tucked away, this place isn't far from ANYTHING in Healdsburg...worth staying..even if just for the WONDERFUL BATHROBES!

Will come back next year.

My college friends and I had a wonderful weekend and 2 night stay at Bella Villa Messina. Jerry was extremely welcoming and knowledgable. His recommendations for restaurants and wineries were excellent. At the happy hours we enjoyed excellent cheese and wine and one night we had oysters from San Francisco. We felt very comfortable and he made us feel like we were staying in our own homes. Our room had a fire place and jacuzzi tub which was very nice and clean. I would definitely recommend Bella Villa Messina for anyone who wants to visit Sonoma. We had a great time!

This was more than a B&B, it was like staying in a luxury castle with a homey feel where you were treated like family. The service and breakfast was impeccable and views were amazing. Also, wine and cheese hour was great taking in the views and meeting lovely people. For all of this, I would have expected to pay much more.

Wonderful property, wonderful views, wonderful hosts and wonderful visit. We will be back to visit Jerry and Harold again. They made us feel like we were at home. Jerry set up our wine touring day so that we visited a variety of wine yards. They were all outstanding. I would recommend this B&B to all my friends .
5 on October 14, 2012
Jerry and Harold made our seven day stay in the Asti Room outstanding (early September). When we arrived and my back was hurting, Jerry offered to help with our luggage. He was excellent at advising us on places to see, and often made suggestions on which wineries to visit, based on our favorite wines. He readily offered to make dinner reservations, again suggesting restaurants based on our food preferences. My wife was recently place on a vegan diet for health reasons, and Jerry accommodated her needs each day. Jerry made a full breakfast each morning- we never started our day of wine tasting hungry. Harold is such an interesting person to talk with, telling of his many life experiences. Jerry and Harold hosted a wine/cheese/fruit spread each afternoon. The discussion among everyone staying there was interesting and lively, each person sharing their day's highlights. We've already made reservations for next year, as many of the guests have been coming to see Jerry & Harold every year without fail. Bella Villa Messina was an outstanding choice for us, and we were made to feel welcome as soon as we entered their home. Thanks Jerry & Harold!
5 on October 09, 2012
Wonderful B&B with great views. Jerry is an amazing cook and helped us plan each day over breakfast. The wine and cheese time each evening was a great way to share stories with other guests and relax before going to dinner. Will definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed the cocktail hour relaxing with other guests and the host (the free wine and hor d'oeuvres were great as well). The breakfast was delicious as well. Overall appreciated the hospitality and the great view at Bella Villa Messina! We only wish we could stay longer next time.

We stayed only one night at Bella Messina, but wished we had spent more time. Jerry and Harold were excellent hosts. The wine and cheese in the evening was a nice touch. They made reservations for us at a nice Healdsburg restaurant, and gave us advice on wineries in the area. We enjoyed a great breakfast the next morning before we headed back to San Francisco. We would definitely stay there again.
5 on September 25, 2012
This was our very first B&B. We had a wonderful time with Jerry and Harold along with the other guests. Our only dissapointment was that we didn't make this our home base for the reminder of our trip to Sonoma County. The breakfasts were outstanding. The information we shared around the table about things to see and do in the area was invaluable. We also enjoyed our wine and chesse time in the everning. We can't wait to return! I read lots of reviews on Bella Villa Messina and was expecting it to be a great place to stayand thank heaven it was because I had reserved 2 rooms for 3 nights. It was everything that I read and more!! The view from the deck is spectacular and the breakfasts are great! I enjoyed my coffee in the morning in the robe that was provided sitting out on the deck looking at a little bit of heaven! Jerry gives you all the information you need and more to get around the area (where to go, what to eat, etc). We could not have made it without him. Don't miss the afternoon wine & cheese time, it is fabulous. We had a great time visiting with Jerry and the other guests during this time, You truly are part of Harold and Jerry's family while you are there. Can't wait to go back again.

Stayed with Jerry and Harold 9-4 &9-5-12. We felt so at home during our stay. The room was immaculate. We were in the Burgundy room. Jerry has so much information to share with everyone and set us up on a tour to cover the area. His recommendations were great. The views are fantastic. We will definitely return. Next time we will stay longer.

I'm tempted to be selfish and not share this wonderful place with anyone, but Jerry is such a wonderful host and the experience will be with me a lifetime, so I’ll share. Jerry's personality and wealth of information, that he eagerly shares, along with a beautiful house and wonderful food make this a must do again. Jerry's reputation among the locals will get you free tastings, VIP service and reservations where you want. Even if you have it all figured out, ask Jerry - he may tell you of a missing gem. You will be so happy that you stayed at Bella Villa Messina – like us, you’ll find it difficult to leave (if he hadn’t been booked, we would have forgotten about San Francisco & stayed the remainder of our time there).

We had a wonderful stay at Bella Villa. Jerry was more than welcoming, accommodating and so informative about the wineries and the surrounding areas. We enjoyed the breakfasts and "happy hour" at the Villa with the other guests as well. Definitely recommend staying at the Bella Villa on your next trip to Healdsburg!

We were very satisfied with our overall experience at Bella Villa Messina. Jerry and Harrold were great hosts and the inn attracted great people from all over. Breakfast was amazing along with the wine and cheese happy hour. This inn is a great value for the area. My husband and I would definitely stay again!

What a great place - Jerry offered a wonderful breakfast everyday to get us off to a great start and helped plot out our travel for the day with plenty of suggestions and many coupons to free tastings at the wineries of our choice. Bella!

We stayed in the sake room-the least expensive room option. It was nicely furnished, the queen sized bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was fine, the linens were nice. I could hear the hum of the highway, but There was a tower fan in the room, with the fan on, I slept quite well. The downstairs is very nice, with interesting decorating. There is a pool (we did not use it), and a big outdoor deck with lots of comfy furniture. What makes this b&b so special are the hosts-engaging, witty, helpful. Of course the late afternoon wine and cheese is nice too. I look forward to returning to Bella villa Messina on my next trip to Sonoma

Jerry knows everyone and everything about Healdsburg. He will be able to plan your winery visits and advise you on where to dine. His breakfast is to die for, They provide wine and cheese on the patio in the evening and you get to mingle and talk with the other guest. I am hooked! I will only stay here.

My wife and I spent 2 nights at the Bella Villa Messina. we were greated as if we had been long time friends and had a wonderful stay spending time in Healdsburg. our stay was short so we had to make sure we had a good plan when trying to cover all the sights, vineyards and restraunts. Jerry Messina made this so easy. each morning he took the time to sit and plan our days route along the russian river and dry creek valleys. The restraunt recomendations were perfect as well! cant wait to return!!
5 on August 16, 2012
This was an excellent bed and breakfast! All of our expectations were met and then some. I would highly recommend this property and the location was just perfect, right in the middle of wine country and near the town of Healdsburg with lots of dining options. The owners were most helpful in planning our day with many different options of what to do. I would say our stay was outstanding!

Absolutely loved this gorgeous getaway! The hosts were warm, friendly and more than willing to make our stay an enjoyable one. My husband and I were completely relaxed while staying at BVM (this is a must!) and will definitely return. The room was clean and cozy and the view from deck was spectacular. I would have to say, the highlight of our trip was Jerry's breakfast. He makes the most wonderful french toast (trust me) and the fresh fruit was amazing. I would highly recommend spending your vacation at Bella Villa Messina.

Bella Villa Messina was great. From the helpful advise to the fantastic breakfast, Bella Villa made our stay special. The owners have been in the area for over 35 years and are a wealth of information. Make sure you have the blueberry beignets pancakes (Jerry's grandmothers recipe), they are awesome! Thanks for everything.

We just had the most wonderful vacation in the CA wine country. Bella Villa Messina is a beautiful B&B that sits on top of a hill over-looking vineyards and the charming town of Healdsburg. If you were to look at the pictures, one could easily mistake it for Tuscany in Italy. The B&B and Healdsburg are at the hub of the Dry Creek Valley, the Alexander Valley and the Russian River Valley. If you stay here it is a great home base for visiting the area wineries. Jerry and Harold are fabulous hosts and Jerry's breakfasts are to die for- Harold, your waffles and bread were awesome too! Cocktail hour everyday at 5:30 is a great way to end the day and start the evening, and don't worry about doing a bunch of research on which wineries, restaurants etc. to go to because Jerry will have it all planned out for you. He'll even take care of shipping the wine back for you. My husband told me that I definately "hit the jackpot" finding this place and I couldn't agree more :-) Lisa- Katy, TX

4.2 on July 14, 2012
We enjoyed our stay . Jerry was very informative about the area and even packed us off with a cooler and water for our wine day! My only negative was that for me it was too close to the freeway.. I sleep with the window open and it was too noisy, so then I was very hot.. (maybe one of the other rooms would have been better?)Sitting on the patio it was very noisy as well. Other than that it was a nice stay, very close to town, a good location.

Having come to wine country many times, this was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had. Harold and Jerry make their guests feel just like family, and serve the most delicious, meals, wine, and cheese throughout the day. We looked forward to coming back every day just to chat with Jerry about our adventures and hear some of his stories. Would recommend this for any couple looking for a romantic getaway, with locals who truly enjoy treating their guests to a great time.

Fabulous experience! Jerry and Harold are the perfect hosts. Bella Villa Messina becomes your home away from home. 360 degree commanding views of the wine valleys and rolling hills from their villa on a hilltop just outside Healdsburg. Perfect location for wine tasting, golfing and dining. What an experience sitting outside on the back patio, sipping wine, eating cheese and learning about the wine country from Jerry. Then you wake up to a wonderful breakfast.

We have stayed at Bella Villa Messina many times, and our latest stay was wonderful as usual. Jerry and Harold always make us feel welcome, and Jerry's knowledxge of local wineries in the Dry Creek Valley helped us discover some fantastic new wines. We especially enjoy their wine and cheese reception in the late afternoon.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Bella Villa Messina and the service provided was exceptional, probably the most in the way of personal attention that we have ever experienced. The location was beautiful though a bit outside the city of Healdsburg. We actually enjoyed the privacy and the drive was quick and easy and parking was not a problem. The only downside was the unsightly road work underway near the entrance and the work in progress around the pool area. We highly recommend a stay at the Belle Villa Messina. .

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with our stay at Bella Messina over Memorial Day Weekend! Jerry made us feel so welcome and treated us so well! We loved having wine with the other guests for happy hour and breakfast was gourmet and yummy! We had the BEST time getting to know Jerry & Harold. When we left it felt like leaving good friends. The rooms were comfortable, clean and decorated very nicely. Much better than a hotel room! We plan to go back to Bella Messiana! We had the best time!!!Thank you!!! -HOlly & Peter

Jerry and Harold made our visit seem as if we were long, lost family members who came to visit. The service could not have been better. From our check-in, to the wonderful wine and cheese time each afternoon, to the outstanding breakfasts, to the excellent, personalized winery and dining advice, to the shipping of all of our wine purchases, Jerry and Harold could not have provided a warmer, more hospitable environment in their beautiful bed and breakfast. The opportunity to interact with their darling three dogs made missing ours at home less traumatic. I will always remember their barking at the birds flying high above the terrace! It worked; not one bird attacked us! I would certainly recommend this experience to anyone and look forward to returning myself to Bella Villa Messina!

My wife and I have stayed in several B&Bs across the country, but by far...Bella Villa Messina was the best we've ever stayed. From the close location to the Sonoma Valley wineries, to the customer service, to the 5-star hospitality, to the perfectly decorated rooms, to the amazing food, to the prefectly designed wine and food tours, Harold and Jerry could do no wrong. This was by far the best trip my wife and I have ever been on and it's all thanks to Jery and Harold of Bella Villa Messina. Trust us when we say we'll do our best to let most of Chicago learn of the experience.

Our hosts Jerry and Harold have what is one of the nicest spots in Sonoma County, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Jerry should be titled the Mayor of Healdsburg - every suggestion he had for us was OUTSTANDING. From his recommendation of Baci (and for hooking us up with a table there) to Willi's for the next night (once again a hook up for a table) to his recommendation for the truffle fries at the Healdsburg Bar and Grill. All of the breakfasts were outstanding and the nightly happy hour is where Jerry and Harold hold court. The Asti suite is worth it as well!

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights in the Asti Room at the Bella Villa Messina. It was so comfortable I tried to replicate the bedding when we returned to Sugar Land. It was like sleeping on a cloud. Jerry and Harold were absolutely great! The breakfasts, wine, cheese and wealth of information make the Bella Villa a one of a kind B & B. We are still talking and thinking about our trip.

Jerry Messina is the perfect B&B host, providing clean, upscale rooms in an well refurbished manson overlooking the vineyards. Well maintained gardens and patio. Jerry offers an upscale breakfast which is above the norm for many B&B's. He is a real trip, but is always ready to provide assistance with any information/reservations relating to wineries, restaurants and/or local attractions. Bella Villa Messina is definitely one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in. Note: Do your homework on location-can be a little to find if you don't have directions.

We had an amazing stay at Bella Villa Messina! The inn was beautiful and relaxing and Jerry and Harold's hospitality made us not want to leave! Be sure to tap into their insider's knowledge on terrific local wineries. We will be back soon.

First class cooking and concierge service. Evening wine tasting happy hour with cheese was very social and a nice touch. All in all one of the very best we have stayed in.

This was my first stay in a B&B and, frankly, I didn't think would like it. However, the hospitality that Jerry and Harold provided made it a great experience. Each evening, they have a happy hour where guests gather for wine and snacks. Jerry was great get getting conversation going. He would then help each of his guests make their dinner arrangement calling restaurants to make reservations (I think he's got the phone book memorized). In the morning, the coffee was ready early and breakfast was great. After breakfast, Jerry would offer advice on how to make the most of the day you had planned. If you didn't have a plan, he would help you make one. Then, he would pack a cooler with ice and water for you. I can't say enough good things about Bella Villa Messina. Harold and Jerry are great hosts. I would highly recommend this B&B.

Our stay in the Burgundy room at Bella Villa Messina was simply amazing! From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were being welcomed home, even though it was our first visit there! Harlod and Jerry take wonderful care of all the guests, have amazing knowledge about the area and are very connected, and they make an awesome breakfast - you won't leave for your wine tastings hungry!

What more is there to say? Jerry and Harold make you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. The Villa is beautifully decorated, warm, friendly, and inviting. The breakfast is lavish and comforting - you will not walk away hungry! Jerry will provide you as much or as little information as you would like, but please...take his advice! He directed us to gems that we would have never gone to without his passionate suggestion. We will always come back and enjoy. I already miss ending the day of tasting back at the Villa, comparing notes, sharing wine and cheese, and enjoying everyone's company. Thank you so much, Harold and Jerry! See you next time! My wife and I stayed one night. The room was small as was the bathroom, and the window looked out towards the 101 freeway - the noise was easily heard if the window was open. Wine tasting/snacks and breakfast were very nice at a large table able to seat everyone who stayed there. The proprietor was very nice and helpful with local information.

This was our first time visiting wine country, and Jerry & Harold were wonderful hosts. The morning breakfast was amazing and the afternoon wine and cheese gathering was truly fun -- sharing stories with guests with Jerry & Harold adding commentary. Also, each day Jerry would ask what we wanted to see and he would give us winery recommendations -- along with "free tasting" cards for all of the wineries. (A savings of $10 to $20 per winery) Most fun of all was when we entered the winery, everyone there knew Jerry & Harold -- they are well known and loved by everyone. All in all a trip to remember. We would not even consider staying anywhere else... Hope to return in a couple of years.

One of the best decisions we made! What an extraordinary B & B. I was so amazed with the hospitality, breakfast, wine and cheese happy hours, and views. We plan on coming back with a bigger group next time to share this experience again.

Stayed 3 nights, the room was immaculate. French room & bathroom was huge and super clean and I'm OCD. Wifi was very fast even though I wasn't supposed to be on it...Shhhh! Wine & cheese & dinner planning every night at 5:30. The host knows every restaurant and winery within 50 miles & more. Also has maps for you and will highlight your route based on your interests. If you aren't sure where to go or exactly what to eat, this is the place to stay. After a few questions, an awesome itinerary will be handed to you by Jerry Messina.

We were very well taken care of at Villa Bella Messina, where co-owner Jerry Messina is truly a great host. He gave us terrific recommendations for restaurants and wineries and help set up an itinerary. Rooms are very comfortable, nicely furnished with unique items that the owners have obviously carefully collected over the years. We look forward to a return trip.

Bella Villa Messina is an excellent B & B. The location is great, the accomodations are great, but what really sets it apart are the hosts. Harold & Jerry went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and made our first trip to Sonoma wine country a memorable one. Their recommendations for wineries and restaurants were spot on, and they helped us with reservations. Jerry even took out a map and figured out the best round trip and pointed out which wineries and other spots to hit on the way. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Never staying at a B & B before, I was not certain what to expect. Staying at Bella Villa Messina was a wonderful experience. Jerry and Harold were excellent hosts and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. If you are looking for an inviting, clean, warm atmosphere, Bella Villa Messina is the place. Jerry prepares an unbeliveably delicious breakfast each morning. You arrive as a guest and leave as a member of the family. We love these guys!

We stayed three nights in this wonderful B&B and had the best experience of any place we have stayed. Jerry is so warm and friendly he makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive till the moment you hate to leave. He helped us plan our day, mapping out the best wineries and pretty drives, then recomended the best restuarants, helped with reservations and even calling a cab while we were enjoying the wonderful wine and cheese gathering every evening. The rooms are beautiful with every need or want thoughtfully provided for. Breakfast each morning was delicious and fun with everyone discusing what they did the day before and what the plans of the day are. It could not have been any better and we look forward to our next visit.

Our stay at the Villa met and exceeded all of our expectations. The Asti room was big and so pretty. The view from the balcony made for wonderful photos. Breakfast was delicious...can't decide if we like the blueberry pancakes or the french toast better. Jerry was an excellent resource and reference to planning our day and pointed us to some wonderful new vineyards. It was always nice knowing at the end of the end day we were coming back to happy hour with good company, wine and cheeses. With the spacious room, beautiful views from the balcony, delicious breakfast & happy hour and the insight & knowledge of the area from Jerry, I can't imagine finding a better value for your money. Go and enjoy!!

My husband and I just spent four nights at Bella Villa Messina over July 4th. The hosts Jerry and Harold were great and we felt at home immediately. Jerry makes an incredible breakfast with fresh fruit every morning and Harold bakes the best bread. Breakfast was perfect. Jerry helped us to map out our day trips to wineries and restaurants. It is a great location to see the Russian Valley, Alexander Valley (my favorite) and Dry Creek Valley. I thought Alexander Valley was prettier than Napa Valley which we visited last year. We enjoyed getting to know the other guests during the happy hour held each night. Jerry was kind enough to call one restaurant to get us a reservation and we ended up with the best table in the place. He definitely knows everyone. He also hosted a July 4th party and invited his guests along with other friends from the area. It was a great experience.

Bella Villa Messina is an oasis in Healdsburg. The inn keepers, Jerry and Harold, are gracious, inviting, knowledgeable about the area and wineries, and happy to help you plan your days. All their recommendations for wineries and restaurants were spot on. Plus, Jerry makes amazing breakfasts. My husband and I plan to come back next time we make the cross-country trip.

There are no words to describe our stay in the Asti Room at the Bella Villa Messina. Jerry and Harold were both so engaging. Jerry helped us plan our wine tour everyday, helped us pick out our restaurant every night (and made the reservations) and made a wonderful breakfast every morning. We had wine and cheese every night and had great conversation with the other guests. My every need had been anticipated. The view from our deck was breathtaking and the jacuzzi wonderful and relaxing. And last, but not least, their three little dogs (Bernice, Brindle, Baesel) and their two Llamas (Bandit and Zorba) made my stay feel more like I was home, well maybe not the Llama part, with a lot of luxury and none of the work. BTW, Bandit and Zorba were wonderful and so majestic!! I guess I did find words to describe, but they are still not enough. Thanks Jerry and Harold for a wonderful stay. I hope I can come back someday. Carol

Besides being very thoughtful and considerate hosts, Jerry & Harold are wonderful sources of knowledge about all the wineries in the area! The breakfasts were great!

What an outstanding California wine country experience! This unique bed and breakfast sits upon a high hill surrounded by redwoods and with an outstanding view beautiful Sonoma county. The innkeepers, Harold and Jerry make you feel as though you are coming home! Gracious and easy going with great eyes for detail and comfort. We could go on and on about the amenities… The villa is wonderfully unique experience … a home away from home in the wine country!

We stayed a couple nights in their most expensive room (the Asti). The pros: Harold & Jerry are the owners who live in the same house, so it does feel homely and comfortable. Jerry also makes outstanding breakfasts... the best meals we had in Healdsburg. Also Jerry was fully equipped with tasting tickets for most of the wineries in the region, so you could happily go tasting for days without spending a dime. The cons: we were a little disappointed with the room for the money we paid... the decor was very 80's and looked like it could use a remodel. Although we had a 2-person jazzuci in our room, we really weren't tempted to use it. We ended up paying (with tax) about $850 for 2 rooms, so it definitely was pricey. Overall, I'd recommend a visit, probably to one of the other less expensive rooms. As for us, we'll probably try somewhere else next time we're in Healdsburg.

I've stayed at establishments from the "Leading Hotels of the World" and Bella Villa Messina is by far the best B&B for value, scenery, location and the extra bonus of a personable owners. I will definitely be back again and again.

As we drove up the hill to the castle-like vision before us, the mid May sun came out bfrom behind the clouds to allow us spectacular views of the valley around us. The joy was just beginning...the exuberant welcome by Jerry as well as his extremely helpful and informative approach to making our two day visit just perfect. We loved the extremely comfortable and perfectly appointed furnishings. My favorite had to be the incredible BATHTUBs as well as the quality of the bedding ...oh then then there is the happy hour with wine and cheese plus and the bountiful breakfast with something for everyone's appetite. You may be wondering about the title..llamas...yes the owners have a pair of llamas grazing the hillside below their castle. All in all - a pure delight!

Just like coming home- Villa Bella Messina is in a quiet neighbourhood with a very beautiful view.Jerry and Harold were wonderful, informative hosts. They were a wealth of information, whether it was your first or return visit to the Sonoma area. We enjoyed the room and house and felt very welcome in their B&B. Breakfast was oustanding! We would recommend this B&B highly to our friends.

We were so pleased with our stay. The innkeepers are extremely knowledgeable about everything in Healdsburg and the Sonoma Wine Country. They arranged great winetasting tours and made excellent recommendations for dinner. They really exceeded our expectations when they were able to get an emergency dental appointment on a Saturday morning.arranged for one of us. This would definitely be our first choice of accommodations the next time we visit Healdsburg.
5 on May 10, 2011
The home is well appointed and designed for gracious living. While there are no restrictions on the use of the home, it is designed for the guests to have a guiet space when they retreat to their rooms. Breakfast was wonderful and we were treated like royalty. Jerry helped us plan our day and offered dining options when asked. He and Harold were very accommodating. If we get back to Sonoma, we will definitely return to the Bella Villa Messina.

We enjoyed the lovely home and gourmet breakfasts. We loved the afternoon wine and cheese. Jerry was so gracious at giving us directions to wineries and mapped out our days where we saw the most we could in a day. The breakfast is always outstanding and the hosts of Bella Villa always make us feel at home. The rooms are always spotless and relaxing. The hosts give us lots of tips for vacationing in the area. And each day includes a wine/cheese hour before we go to a restaurant in the area of which the hosts are very knowledgeable. We are always meeting new people and having fun experiences at Bella Villa.

We spent 3 nights with Harold & Jerry. We appreciated all the good tips on the local winerys, restaurants, and scenic drives. Jerry even gave us a little ice chest to borrow filled with ice to use for our picnic at the coast. The place is so beautiful. Such goregous views from on top of the hill! Great breakfast! Such a comfortable spot! We will be back!

Jerry was great. Answered phone immediately when we called for reservations, emailed us restaurant suggestions, and upgraded our room on arrival. Breakfast was great - best selection of fresh, ripe fruits that I have encountered, with lots of eggs, bacon & home made bread. We only had one day and he mapped out the wineries to visit. Perfect in all respects. And he even gave hints on both traffic and things to visit in San Francisco. During our visit, one other couple was making their 3rd stay at Bella Vista Messina and said they planned to visit annually. Jerry had personally led them on a wine tour during the visit and they had boxes of wine bottles that he was arranging to be sent to their home. We arrive home tonight to find Jerry had emailed photos of us he had taken during our visit. You can't go wrong with the B&B. One last thought - everyone talks of the Napa Valley but too many tourists. Alexander Valley and the Russian River Valley have just as many wonderful vineyards and hardly any traffic. Robert Young winery, a Jerry recommendation, was particularly nice. Let us taste from the barrel, and opened a limited bottle not on the tasting list all at no charge.

We had a wonderful stay at Bella Villa Messina. The only negative was we were only there one night. Jerry is a wonderful host and in no time we felt part of a family. The room was lovely and the villa is fabulous - wonderful views and very comfortable.

Great location for wineries and Healdsburg restaurants. Our hosts were wonderful. Jerry and Harold are 2 of the nicest, genuine people you will ever meet. Jerry did a spectacular job with breakfast and Harold bakes a mean bread. Jerry planned our days flawlessly; wineries, areas of interest and best of all great restaurants. If you're into Sonoma Villa Messina will maximize your visit.

We spent three days at Bella Villa Messina early November. The inn is awesome. Views are spectacular. The hospitality is really unmatched. French toast out of this world!!! Jerry and Harold are outstanding hosts. Jerry feels like a long lost cousin. We had so much fun sitting around talking with him. We had tons of laughs!

I seldom stay in B&B but this experience has definitely changed my mind. Harold and Jerry are the most gracious hosts. They know the area like the back of their hands and can help plan your day to make the most of your visit. Your day starts with breakfast in the beautiful dining room and then out come the maps and the planning for what wineries, restaurants and sights to go to. Start your evening in the living room with wine and cheese and then its off to dinner with reservations compliments of Jerry. The Villa sits in a great location on a hill so you get to see the colors of the surrounding countryside. All in all, a fantastic experience and one that I am sure to repeat.

Burgundy room is fantastic with a gas fired fireplace. Woke-up each morning to the smell of Jerry's cooking either Hawaiian french toast or blueberry pancakes. Jerry helped arrange your daily activities over a cup of coffee. He has great knowledge of Sonoma wineries and restaurants. He advised that Napa was a place to buy auto parts. Napa is way to commercialized. Sonoma is quaint and absolutely gorgeous scenery with outstanding wineries. Once your day is over, you enjoy a happy hour( or two) with Jerry & Harold and the guests of Bella Villa Messina. A great way to meet the other guess and share your experiences of the day. Bella Villa Messina is a warm and friendly place to enjoy. I felt like I was at home. Thanks Jerry and Harold for a fun five day stay.

The room was wonderful, very clean and had everthing we needed. Bella Villa Messina is well appointed and the food, plus the wine & chesse at 5:30 was great. Jerry & Harold had local knowledge of where to taste wine, shop and eat. But most of all it was fun to be there because of Jerry's charm. We will revisit the Bella Villa Messina again. Jerry and Harold are welcoming, engaging and share the excitement of your trip. They have their words of wisdom, favorite places and can obtain reservations for you as "Jerry's Kids" at very difficult to get into restaurants. Jerry telephoned me the morning of our arrival asking when we would be there and how could he help in our daily schedule. I truly felt like my first cousin was calling and could not wait for me to arrive and have the best time possible at their house. The guests felt like friends/family by the time each of us left. Anyone should feel it a privilege to stay there.

The only way to travel is to stay with Jerry and Harold at their gorgeous home in Healdsburg!!! They are both so nice, accommodating, friendly, outgoing, and wonderful! The rooms are large, nicely decorated, with soft, comfy beds. Breakfasts are home-made family recipes, homemade fresh bread, and served when you get up! Not at a specific time... I had a blast, and can't wait to go back. The location is perfect, too... just down the road from all the good wineries!!! And, just mention that you are staying with Jerry for discounted tastings!!! The best!!

My husband and I stumbled into the Villa Messina about 10 years ago. We have stayed in most of the six rooms and are wonderful with a personality of their own. We only stay in B&B when we come up to wine country and once we found this place, another will not do. Jerry & Harold are great hosts and make you feel at home. If you need help with reservations, Jerry will make sure you are taken care of. Breakfast is wonderful as is sitting outside for happy hour with a nice glass of wine and enjoying the panoramic views.

My husband and I have first went stayed at Villa Messina 10 years ago. We have stayed several times during those years! What brings us back there.....you ask? The wonderful hospitality that Jerry and Harold offer when you come to their B & B. You feel that it is home away from home! We have enjoyed staying at the inn and will continue to go there when we come up to the Sonoma area. You cannot go wrong staying here as they really make you feel welcome. Jerry will make sure if you need dinner reservations he will make them for you and offer any guidance of "Where to go" whether it is a winery or walking around the square and visiting shops in the area. Thanks Jerry and thanks Harold! You will love in the late afternoons too sitting on the back patio with a HUGE glass of wine talking with everyone staying there or just a nice on one one talk with both Jerry and Harold as you look out at the panoramic view of the area. Relaxing and amazing to say the least! Tamara and Michael Swearingen Livermore Valley, Ca

We stayed 3 nights in the French room in mid-June to celebrate our 14th anniversary. This was our first stay at a B&B. . To say our stay was memorable would be an understatement. We arrived with a plan of just having fun and Jerry ensured that we did. As for the tangible things: the house is set magnificently on top of the hill with a view of all 3 valleys, the room is beautiful, bed extremely comfortable, and the bathroom with Jacuzzi tub particularly enjoyable (we loved the candles around the tub which gave the room the perfect ambience). Breakfast is served whenever you happen to get up and is delicious. If you want to be left alone for some private time together you are not bothered at all. As for the intangibles: Jerry and Harold are what all hosts should be – they make you instantly welcome and comfortable. We spent more time with Jerry and the best description I can give of him is that he is a catalyst. If you know what you want to do he helps you plan it, if you don’t know what you want to do he helps you find something you’ll love, and if you’re already having fun he makes it better. It was like having a personal guide who you didn’t have to take along with you. He obviously loves hosting and meeting new people. Most places we went knew Jerry and Harold and tastings were often free or service a step above because of it. Both winery and dining recommendations were fantastic and Jerry made our reservations the second we asked. Being relatively young compared to the other guests we were slightly apprehensive – given the way Gerry made the atmosphere lively and fun we should not have been. There are small touches to numerous to list which make this place and its hosts special. We look forward to returning as often as we can.

We stumbled across Villa Messina several years ago on our first trip to Sonoma - and it was a lucky stumble! From Jerry's warm welcome, to the wine and cheese sunset parties, to the amazing breakfasts with Harold's delicious breads - even the llamas were a delight. Stay here - often!
