This was truly lovely. My husband and I had not stayed in Half Moon Bay before. We went to the Bay Area for a work seminar for him and used the opportunity for a one-night vacation. Zaballa House greeted us with wine, cheese, and crackers in the common area - where we had a great chat with a couple. This place is amazingly central and an excellent choice! Our fireplace didn't seem to work, but we weren't committed enough to having it on to seek help or repair. Breakfast was more elaborate and charming than we expected also. We had a pleasant talk with another couple at the big dining table. It was fantastic. Anyhow, we recommend this place!

The breakfast was amazing, they offered an assortment of wonderful food. The only negative was the fireplace did not work in the room.

Only spent a night in HMB, but had a nice stay at Zaballa. The room was very roomy and comfortable, though I wish it had a coffee table next to the couch. Note for future travelers - the stores don't open up until around 11, so don't wake up early like I did. :)

Our room was not in the "oldest House" but in a much newer building that was a couple of notches below a Motel 6.

O.K. the room was the Taj Mahal. But it was clean and quaint .Loved the vine and cheese in the P.M. Place is like going to a museum with their displays. The shops surrounding were very cool. Especially the woodworking gallery. Being a woodshop teacher saw thing I only seen in Fine Woodworking. Breakfast was Fantastic. Owner was there and she was a joy to talk to. A bargain I do believe. Meet many couples who stayed here before, even a couple from Texas who has been here 3or so times.

Zaballa house was great. The service was excellent and the room very nice. Our particular room was a little too bright at night do to outside lighting. The breakfast is very good, especially the homemade granola.

First, Half Moon Bay is a delightful little town. It has a quiet main street with about anything you would ever want in terms of restaurants, bakeries, and shops. We particularly enjoyed the Pasta Moon. It is an upscale Italian restaurant directly across the street from the inn. All their pastas are made on site. The food, wine, and the service exceeded our expectations. We never had a bad meal in Half Moon Bay and Zaballa House is a convenient place to start your exploration of the town. The Greek Suite a huge second-floor, two-room suite with a king size bed, generous dresser and closet, large bathroom, separate alcove with a HUGE genuine Jacuzzi tub (big enough for four), and balcony from the bedroom. The sitting room had a kitchenette with small refrigerator and microwave, sink, island and bar stools. The plates and silverware were sparse and there were no cutting tools. The sitting room had a full couch and love seat, a large entertainment center with a big flat screen TV and thirty DVD movies, generous coffee table, stand with coat and hat racks, and gas fireplace. The furniture was substantial. The sitting room is big enough you could entertain a party of six. The Greek Suite is a great spot for a romantic get away. Wi-Fi Internet was reliable and good for all but a power user. All the staff was helpful and pleasant during our stay. We would rate the food as very good. The best thing about the Zaballa House breakfast was the fresh fruit. They had berries, cherries, and melons, to be eaten with various breads, granola, yogurt, and cottage cheese. On the weekends they make waffles to order and the specialty of the house every morning is quiche. Guests are given a choice of eating in a sitting room with local newspapers or more formally at a table for eight in a dinning room. It is a pleasant atmosphere conducive to meeting your fellow guests and enjoying a good breakfast.

The Zaballa staff loves to cook and enjoys meeting people. Sue loves to make quiche's and granola for breakfast. Marian also works for a catering company and will not be out done by anyone with her afternoon wine and cheese. Luz is always helpful and if you are nice she might make you her special waffles with fresh fruit.
Sue's Homemade quiche. You never know what Sue will come up with next but what you can expect is it to be delicious and filling.
