Fern Grove Cottages

Rooms were cozy and sweet. Everyone that worked there that I came in contact with were beyond helpful and nice.

No clock or phone in the room, but cell phone sufficed. Free wifi advertised, but could not connect. Proprietor said was not working due to usage and they were having upgraded soon. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider staying here again. We stayed in a one room cottage.next time we would likely consider a room with a fireplace.

Our cottage was quite small but cute, the gas fireplace kept it very warm. Bed was fine but could be a little firmer, bathroom small but adequate. The breakfast was quite good, continental but decent selection and quality. Service was very good. Good location if you want to be close to town. I would stay here again.

The cottages, dining room and grounds were so pretty and charming. We dealt directly with Carissa and Margrett, the innkeeper. Both were so helpful and hospitable. Our cottage had beautiful quilts and every immenity you might need. It was a wonderful experience. I will return and I have recommended it to friends.

A group of friends and I attended the Winter Wineroad. My friend suggested this place after she found it on an internet search. It had high ratings and great value. Chain hotels near the city were $300 plus. We were able to stay in a studio with spa tub for less than $200. Our studio had a deck and nautical theme. It was very cute, very clean and had everything we needed...including flat screen TV (the NFL playoffs were on :P). The inn owner was very nice. At breakfast, in the lobby, she made sure we were warm enough. Breakfast was exactly what we were hoping for, warm scones and other pastries. They also had delicious vanilla yogurt with granola. My only complaint would be that there was no stand up shower. You had to use a hand held, shower nozzle in the spa tube to bathe. Note: my friend had a one bedroom place and she had a shower so I think this complaint only applies to studios.

We are regular customers of Ferngrove Cottages and always enjoy our stays here. A very warm and welcoming place to stay in the Russian River area.

My wife and I were looking for a quiet spot to visit the local sites. Fern Grove fit the bill perfectly!

It was great to have a kitchen, dining table and living room for our family. Since we couldn't get together at home, this was the next best thing.

Stayed in cabin seven and enjoyed an evening around the fireplace. Very quaint cabin with two bedrooms. Only thing to be prepared for is that wood is not provided. Bought it from a guy selling wood out of his pickup truck at the Safeway. The provided breakfast is mostly breads and fruit, but all well-prepared, especially the amazing scones. Get them hot!

The studio suites were smaller than expected; the spa tub adjoins the bedroom and that is the only option for bathing, there is no shower in the bathroom. Except for that one small detail, our stay was wonderful, and the breakfast each day was yummy.

Fern Grove is a lovely place - Very charming and close to town which was nice The cabins are clean though a bit sparse on furniture - Beds are comfortable and we really enjoyed the fireplace. The continental breakfast was OK but very oridinary. Fruit salad, bagels and a few pastries . but they had great Coffee! It was a bit on the pricey side at 209 per night with taxes and fees

We loved it here! We stayed in earlu October and it was chilly so we didn't get to use the pool but these are definitely the perfect little rustic cabins. You are walking distance to town, located 4 miles from Armstrong State Park and only 14 miles to the coast. The staff is so nice and helpful. Our heater wasn't working the first night and they had it fixed right away. We will for sure be back!!

Fern Grove Cottages were very convenient for our trip between Russian River and Sonoma. Lovely landscaping and great value for money accomodation. Buffet breakfast excellent but it was the friendly staff that really score highly. We were warmly greeted on arrival. Check out and advice on visiting Sonoma where the stars are earned. Margarett ( I presume) gave us exceptional advice and kind 'introductions' to great Wineries. The 'personnal' introduction was very much appreciated by ourselves and one specific winery - that's what joined up visitor care is about!

I want to thank Margaret and her staff for the lovely family birthday celebration/vacation we had. I believe we occupied 5 differnet cabins. All wonderfully, uniquely appointed. We enjoyed the setting, the cottage, the friendly breakfast. It is our second time staying here and will be back again.

The cottage we had at Fern Grove was all that we needed. However the bedrooms were VERY small and there was no place for suitcases, so we had to place ours in the den area. For 3 folks, this was a bit tight. The kitchenette had all the basics, and a good sized kitchen table. We were not able to get the heat stove to come on in the evenings, but the bedrooms had individual heaters so we just used those. The setting and location of the cottages is ideal. Restaurants are within walking distance. The breakfast includes wonderful homemade granola and scones, which are quite yummy. I would stay there again, but would choose a larger cottage if I had 3 people.

What a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy, lots of glorious flowers and redwood trees. A wonderful breakfast available each morning. A great respite - thank you!

I received a complimentary upgrade from a studio to a one-bedroom cottage and was very pleased with the amenities. The furnishings and decors were so charming and made me feel like I never wanted to leave. The place is pet friendly so you can totally bring a dog if you make the proper arrangements. Lastly, the staff was wonderful, very accommodating! I have already recommended this location to friends looking for a nice and affordable place to visit in the Sonoma County area.

We very much enjoyed our stay. Wish we could have stayed more days and wish the breakfast was a little earlier as we had to get on the road. Nice place, we will return.

Great place to stay - just a short walk to town. Wouldn't stay in the same room, no shower - just had a tub with hand held. Breakfast was great! We will stay again!

We were very happy with our stay at Fern Grove. The place is truly unique and the innkeepers very helpful and friendly.

The surrounding gardens at Fern Grove made it well worth the stop. The room was comfortable, accomodating and decorated appropiately. A private cabin in the woods feeling. Loved it all!

The cottage was very well-presented and much bigger than I expected. The grounds were strikingly well-tended - the immaculate layout of the plant and flower beds really makes the place feel tranquil and secluded. Staff were friendly and helpful in giving us information about the local area. Breakfast was rudimentary, but we planned to eat in town anyway.

We spent several days at the Fern Grove Cottages and found them to exceed our expectations in every way. The property is immaculately maintained, the rooms well decorated, spacious and comfortable, and breakfast provided was delicious. This little gem is a bargain in an area that otherwise can be quite pricey.

We stayed for 5 nights at Fern Grove and had an excellent time. Our cottage was perfect, along with the service, and of course, the breakfasts. We love that Fern Grove is dog-friendly, too!

The property, both inside and out, were immaculate/flawlessly maintained. The numerous flower gardens added a warm and cozy environment. The owners were very friendly and helpful in recommending sites/wineries to visit. A very quaint touch is that the owners provide trays to take your continental breakfast back to your cottage (a great service for those with children), which can be necessary because of the limited seating inside the dinning area.

This was out 2nd time staying here and we've enjoyed it very much both times and will return again. The grounds are emaculately groomed with flowers and ferns everywhere - just beautiful. We stayed in a room this time with a spa tub - at first we were disappointed we also did not have a shower however we soon discovered the relaxed and slow pace of the tub so we defiantely looked forward to our morning spa/baths. The breakfast is good but by the third morning I almost wished we went out it's the same every morning. The bed was comfy and the room good sized. The main drawback is we were attached to the room next door and if they used the toilet at night you could here it and the running water in the sink. Another huge plus is you can walk easily into town for shopping/ lunch/dinner and the staff was fantastic. Another plus is we used the BBQ area this time for the birthday party along with the pool. The pool is good sized and they provide plenty of towels for use.

This is a beautiful and well maintained property. There are gorgeous flowers everywhere. I think I would have enjoyed it more if we had stayed longer. I really like to swim on my vacations and the pool closed early in the evening- and was not open in the AM ( between 7 and 8:30) Since the front desk is closed between 7pm and 8:30 AM I would assume the pool is not open then either even though it says "open during daylight hours". No laps for me. The room was spotless and had wireless internet. No real reason to upgrade to a porch( extra $40 a night)- I had visions of a porch facing nature, not the parking lot even though it is a flowering parking lot. We did not use the refrigerator . It would have been nice to have tea in the room as well as coffee and towels that were a bit nicer. The breakfast was outstanding with homemade scones and fresh fruit salad. The people at the desk were accommodating and friendly.

Worked out great. Three groups of us in three separate cottages. Walking distance to downtown Guerneville and to the swim segment of the the Vineman Ironman when driving there would have been a real hassle. Would stay there again without hesitation.

We stayed in the room with the fireplace and queen size bed. Lovely grounds and room. Lots of nice little details in the room like games and books. The lady at the desk when we checked in was sweet and very informative. The breakfast was yummy. The only issue we had was parking. We have a larger truck so maneuvering through the grounds was a bit tricky. Also when we returned in the evening the few parking spaces in front of our cottage where all taken. Overall I would defiantly stay here again.

When I found the website and made the reservations for Fern Grove I knew the inn would be special but I had no idea how special! The cottage was great, the beautiful gardens were out of this world! The breakfast was delicious! It was only a short walk to town, shopping and the river! To top it off, the Inn Keepers were so welcoming, friendly and helpful !! Thank you for making our time so wonderful in Guernville !!

My partner and I have stayed here for two summers in a row now, and we plan on going back next year too. We stayed in the spa studio sweet. The room definitely had character and charm. We had our own private deck with table and chairs. We ate our breakfast out there and even enjoyed some star watching. The breakfast is wonderful, not quite a buffet but better than any "Free" or "continental" breakfast you'd get at other places. The owner, Margaret, gave us great tips for wine tasting. Great value!

We arrived early and were upgraded to a very cute and cozy cottage with a fireplace and separate living room. The grounds are filled with flowers and surrounded by redwoods. I enjoyed our [ersonal patio with table and chairs. The breakfast was varied and very good. We'll stay here again because of the service, breakfast, and great little cottages!

Fern Grove cottages are located within a short walk from the river, beach, restaurants and walking paths. We really enjoyed the breakfasts - and that you could take it to your cabin for a truly relaxing start to the day. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it. The girls from Chicago

Stayed for a week in early July. Had a cabin that slept 4, surrounded by the redwoods. It was on the small side, but adequate, cozy, like you would expect a summer cabin to be. Nice decks with beautiful redwoods surrounding them. Gorgeous gardens with exquisite roses and other perennials. Butterflies everywhere! Breakfasts were great, homemade items every day. Innkeepers very friendly and helpful. A lovely heated pool but was a little too cold for me to try during our stay.

Booked at last minute to getaway on the 4th of July. Beautiful surroundings, peaceful/tranquil in a lush garden setting. All the staff that I encountered were friendly, helpful and genuine. Deluxe continental was delicious with mouth-watering scones, cinnamon rolls,pastries; fresh cut fruit with yogurt and granola; bagels/english muffins with assorted spreads; fresh brewed coffee. Trays made it possible to enjoy breakfast at my cabin deck or in bbq picnic area. Only minor inconveniences were spotty wi-fi access(which I was told was being assessed and corrected) and short supply of hot water for shower.

What a great location in Russian River - we were there for July 4th celebrations. As always, the staff at Fern Grove Cottages were friendly, knowledgable and helpful with information about the area and places of interest....

Lovely gardens and hosts,best breakfast by far! The bed was a little lumpy but we only stayed 2 nights. I Would definetely return.

The grounds were beautiful and well kept and offered a beautiful environment for the surrounding woods. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and bountiful.

The bed was firm to the point of being hard. However, the setting was delightful. Truly a place where you can sit around in the garden all day reading and noone looks at you funny.

My partner and I stayed here one night. It's a nice, friendly property and is located in a great place to roam around Guerneville.

We were in a 1 bedroom with a whirlpool. It was a cute place but it looked a smelled a little too much like my grandmothers house. However, we knew this before we booked our reservation from looking at pictures. We were surprised that we did not have a shower in our bathroom. We made do with the whirlpool. Breakfast was fantastic. I only wish there were some hard boiled eggs or another non-dairy protein source. It seemed to attract an assortment of people. Retired folk, families (young and not-so young), young couples. If you stay here, you should really get a meal at Boon Restaurant. It is amazing.

Friendly, affordable and beautiful surprises everywhere.

Customer service was fantastic! Mike & Margrett were gracious hosts; did a nice job in helping us seek out the best vineyards in the Sonoma wine country to visit. The breakfast they served us was nothing shy of outstanding! Guerneville is a quaint little town with some wonderful restaurants as well. Highly recommend!

Beautiful grounds with all the flowers and plants in bloom. The people were very friendly and attentive. The room was nice. The breakfasts were great, especially the fresh baked scones. It was a little more than I like to pay, but was worth it.

We stayed in a 1-BR with a gas log stove and spa tub. The cottage was enormous--king-sized bed, comfy loveseat, comfy but slightly noisy rocking chair. The tub easily fit two adults, and we never ran out of hot water. Breakfast was absolutely delicious--the scones are every bit as good as everyone else says, and the granola was also terrific. Also terrific were the people--they offered wonderful advice, and every place (winery, restaurant) we went to that we mentioned Fern Grove Cottages, the response was always warm and friendly--everyone knows these folks in the Guerneville/Russian River area, and likes them.

We enjoyed our stay at Fern Grove Cottages, and it met my expectations. The facilities are aging, but well maintained, and the host and hostess were well informed about the area and helpful. I enjoyed talking with the other guests at breakfast, sharing our adventures and dining on an enhanced continental breakfast. I would consider returning here on future visits.

We went dat for the holiday and had a great time. Everything is so green, roses everywhere. This is truly a tranqual inn. The staff could not be more accomadating, all we had to do was ask and it was there. Overall a great time. Great for short getaway

Great place to launch into wine tasting country. The other bonus is the beauty of the tall red woods and the proximity to the beautiful Pacific coast.

The cottage far exceeded my expectations. It was clean, attractive, homey, cozy.. we were there for a rainy weekend, so we spent a lot of time inside. My only complaint, and it's pretty minor, is that the couch is very uncomfortable, and is the only place to sit if you want to watch tv or movies, especially for two people. I would either replace the couch or put a tv in the bedroom. Other than that, we loved it, and I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Lovely place, great gardens. For us, the bed was small. Wish the dog rules (can never be left alone in the room etc. ) had been given ahead of time though.

The rating system for bedandbreakfast.com seems odd to me -- certainly Fern Grove Cottages "met my expectations" (or better), a middle rating, but I did quite a bit of research before making my reservations there, so my expectations were extremely high. The whole "expectations" line of thinking for BandB ratings just doesn't work since everybody has different thoughts about what it is reasonable to expect. That said, and reflecting back on my stay at Fern Grove after a few weeks, I would have to rate my stay at somewhere between 4 1/2 -- 5 stars. I expected, and got, a pleasant, totally relaxing refuge from the world, among the tall trees. No monkey business, no noise, no creepy forced interaction among the other guests -- my cottage shared no common wall with any other. Wonderful! The staff was totally cool about my small dog. Oh, and the continental breakfast was perfect -- lots of good and different things to eat and drink. I thought long and hard about whether I had anything to complain about, and the only thing I could come up with was that the toilet seat must have been installed by a lady plumber, because it refused to stay up by itself while I (ahem) peed. Had to hold it up, which is damn difficult while your hands are otherwise occupied. Trust me, this is not a small problem! Oh, and the decor in my cottage might have been a little over-the-top 70s. But really, I loved this place, and would gladly return at the next opportunity!

My ol'lady and I stayed here on a recent coastal trek. Grounds are immaculate. Cottages are very nice. Great location. I would not think twice about staying there again. I would highly recommend Fern Grove.

My husband and I stayed in their smallest room option, a studio. It was incredibly clean, and the staff was wonderful. Breakfast was great (granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, and baked goods such as bagels, english muffins, danishes, scones etc). The grounds of Fern Grove are beautiful with fresh flowers and redwoods throughout and surrounding the rooms. I'm pregnant so we weren't in the area to do wine tasting, but we spoke to another couple who did - TONS of places in the area. Overall, great value!

Our room was upgraded for free and we were very happy with it. Location is beautiful and the owner is very friendly. We have told our friends about how nice is was there.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Location was great- in the redwoods and close to both the Sonoma coast and wine country. The 1br fireplace cottages are cute and cozy with everything you need. The breakfast spread was very nice. My highlights were the homemade granola and the coffee!

Overall...We had a great stay...we would highly recommend! Conviniently located near a grocery store ..local restaurants and fun places to visit...everything you need near by.

Great location for Russian River wine tasting and enough space to relax with a glass of wine by the fire. Nice breakfast service in the morning--even fresh baked scones. Reception gave great dinner restaurant recommendation in Guerneville. It's not luxurious, but it's quite adequate.

We have stayed here several times. The best part is the hosts knowledge of local wineries. She listens to what we want and then steers us to the right places.

We received very useful travel information since we hed to reroute our itinerary due to weather.

Had a wonderful time while there. Everyone, from the Innkeepers to the cleaning staff were charming, gracious, efficient, and helpful. We plan to return next year, and stay longer.

The Fern Grove Cottages innkeepers were helpful with our slightly complicated sleeping arrangements. They made great dining and winery suggestions for our stay as well. Location made walking to shops and restaurants very easy. The setting among big redwood trees is magical.

My husband and I booked a night in the Spa Studio purely for the 2 person hottub. When we got to room we found that the hot tub was bigger than expected, which was especially nice because my husband is 6'4" and I am 7 1/2 months pregnant. The room was very cozy and we enjoyed our romantic getaway. We will be back, hopefully for longer next time.

We found the Fern Grove Cottages charming and cozy. The room was clean, the tub fantastic, the service very friendly, and the location convenient. We look forward to staying here again.

I really love the location and cleaniness of the room. It was a perfect room for a romantic getaway. The hot tub studio was large enough for two enjoy. I look forward to my next stay at the Fern Cottages.

This is the second time we have stayed here. it's cozy, romantic & easy to get to for a last minute getaway.

We were return guests, and had a glitch in our reservations, but Margaret (owner) stepped up and graciously made accomodations for us and our pooch. Good value for the price - like staying at your Grandmother's summer place.

Margrett, the innkeeper, was very friendly and helpful, and allowed me to check in a couple of hours early when I was passing through town on my way to the coast for the afternoon. My cabin was cozy and very comfortable...I liked it the minute I walked in the door! The resort was in a peaceful setting, yet only a few blocks' walk to the center of town. The resort had a lot of good info available on attractions, restaurants, and wineries in the surrounding area. A great spot!

We rented a lovely 1 bedroom cottage with gas stove and spa tub. It was splendid! The innkeepers were very welcoming and knowledgable about events and wineries in the area. Our tv had an issue that was promptly addressed with a sense of humor. The breakfast was simple but delicious, especially the granola. We will definately return for many future getaways!

The room was clean and nice. The bed was a little harder than we like, but we slept well. We had the hot tub room and the price was very good for that benefit. However, there was no separate shower. There was a hand held shower head by not enough water pressure to really do any good. The Inn had videos tenants could borrow if you wanted to watch a movie, and there was a good selection. We stayed two nights. Restaurants in town seem to close down early because we had a tough time the second night finding a different place to eat. The first night was good, had dinner at The Garden Grill. I definitely recommend them. We would stay here again. It's quiet and quite beautiful. The owners are very nice. The breakfast was good. Continental; muffins, bagels w/different flavors cream cheese, fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, juice, fresh baked banana nut bread etc. Very yummy!

Fern Grove is a wonderful place to stay with spectacular hospitality, great cottages, and at a great price. The cottages are adorable, afordable and in a lovely location in Guerneville. But, what really makes Fern Grove stand out is that Margaret (the owner) is a gracious host with a wealth of information on Sonoma County vineyards and wineries. Her love for hospitality really shines. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Fern Grove is our favorite spot to stay in the Russian River area, hands down. The couple who own the place couldn't be more helpful, accomodating and ready to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are intimate and warm. We love the hot tub cottages!

I stayed 2 nights at Fern Grove cottages and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Accomodations were perfect, clean and cozy. The grounds are well maintained and peaceful, providing for a quiet and pleasant atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious, providing a full array of tempting treats, such as home made scones and granola, fresh pastries and fruit, coffee, juice and other assorted delectibles. Maragaret is extremely informative and provides friendly conversation as well as good advice for any local activities and points of interest worth checking out. The assistant inkeeper was also very nice and equally informative and pleasant. If you're looking for genuine hospitality, comfortable rooms, beautiful grounds and excellent location, Fern Grove Cottages is the perfect retreat.

Aside from a slightly-annoying carbon monoxide alarm light blinking every five minutes, the bedroom was comfortable and relaxing. I wish the fireplace stayed on a little longer between its breaks, but since it was gas-powered it's probably better for the environment that it doesn't stay on 24/7. The staff were friendly and accommodating. If you need anything, just ask at the front desk. The rooms were priced appropriately, and were not too expensive. The homemade scones were delicious.

The cottages are nothing fancy - I think they're modifed doublewides, but they're comfortable, with more personality than a motel. The breakfast was great, with homemade scones, granola and lots of choices. The woman who runs it is very nice, and took the time to recommend things to do based on our interests. A great deal for the area!

Love going to Fern Grove. The varieties of cottages is wonderful.....love the hot tubs in room. The owners are wonderful and make you feel welcome. Sherry in the evening and continential breakfast in the morning.....everything is just...warm. The area in generalis beautiful any time of the year. Can't wait to go again!!

Right from the down-home gracious reception from Margaret, this place was a delight. The cabins, spread in a picture-perfect way through the beautiful Redwoods, are sparkly clean inside and out. The whole place shows the love and attention put into every phase of it. I arrived late, and this is the first time I've ever had a late arrival and found the lights on and the room nicely heated when I got there. The breakfast, an over-the-top spread of home-made pastries, granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, breads, coffee, teas and more, is presented to guests in a beautiful dining room. You can sit at the nicely-set antique table or in one of the comfy chairs around the fireplace. The morning paper is there for you, as well. Also in the dining room is a computer with printer for guests. A nice touch, indeed. And no, I didn't get paid to write this review and I do not know the owners, other than Margaret whom I met on this visit. Five Stars!

We spent 4 nights at Fern Grove arriving on Thanksgiving evening. The gentleman working the desk that evening was very friendly and helpful and gave us a great recommendation for dinner that night. We had the privilege of speaking with Margaret every morning and she would recommend an itinerary for our wine tasting day. Her recommendations were always spot on and she seemed eager to help. The continental breakfast is great with the granola and scones being the highlight. Admittedly the room we chose, the smallest, was quite small for two people. That said, it was clean. The bed was comfortable. The service was fantastic. And we didn't come here to stay inside anyway. We would definitely stay here again.

I very much enjoyed the Inn Keepers at Fern Grove Cottages. They were very helpful with suggestions for where to visit and where to dine in the area. However, for me, I found the mattress very firm and I slept poorly. Also, they promote a "European" style breakfast that is merely cereal, sweets, bagels, and fruit. Not what I've encountered in Europe. I recommend this place with the caveat that, if you don't like very firm mattresses and if you expect a true European style breakfast, you may be a bit disappointed.

We stayed with two small children and had the lovely hot tub cottage which everybody loved- great since it was raining a lot during our stay. my favorite thing was that we could take that awesome breakfast up to our cottage and eat there. and the porch was really beautiful. wish I could have stayed longer.

Fern Grove Cottages is a perfect Getaway. We loved the breakfast featuring delicious homemade granola. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Tea, cookies and creamed sherry was provided in the cozy main building in the afternoons... a real treat. The cottages are cute and well maintained. The only thing we would do differently next time is to upgrade to the next price category. We went for the least expensive cottage which was tiny and had a shared inside door with the unit next to us impeding on our privacy. Aside from that: Everything was GREAT!

My wife, Alice, and I spent a week at Fern Grove - celebrating our 31st Anniversary. Margaret was an outstanding, informed hostess and met us every morning at breakfast with a smile and recommendations for visits to wineries and restaurants - much appreciated. The bottle of champagne on our anniversary was a touch of class, and the Saturday Cheese & Wine Tasting and breakfasts were something to be remembered (ask for the scone recipe). Other guests staying there were friendly and willing to engage in a morning or evening conversation. We will definitely celebrate a future anniversary at Fern Grove.

The staff was super friendly. Our cottage was clean and quaint. A great value compared to other lodging in the area. It was perfect for a romantic getaway.

The studio room was quite small. The service was excellent. Room was very clean and well maintain. Breakfast was closesr to a Continental breakfast than to a real breakfast. What they offer for brekfast was high quality but there was no much choices.

The rooms were very cute and have a rustic cabin feel. We shared a cabin for four and paid about $55 per person, per night-what a deal!!! Breakfast of pastries, yogurt/granola, bagels, fruit, and coffee was included. I loved the option of having a kitchen to prepare meals. The service was outstanding, the front desk was exceptionally helpful. We went for a Wine Road event and they had computer access and a printer in the lobby so we could print out maps, something we had neglected to do before we left. I would definitely recommend this place!

Visited the Fern Grove Cottages for two nights and had a pleasant stay. We had been there about 12 years ago and it was a bit disheveled with leaking toilets. But this trip was much better, the property was well-kept, cabins were brightly painted and the grounds very nicely maintained. The 2 bedroom cabin was nice although a bit dated in decor and the bedrooms were sort of cramped with the beds taking up most of the space. Bathroom was clean but also dated The innkeepers were friendly and helpful. Overall a nice experience that I would recommend to friends

My friend and I had the best weekend staying at Fern Grove Cottages. The 2 bedroom cottage we stayed in was very cute and "homey", and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. Margrett made the best scones and granola we have ever tasted. Margrett also recommended some wineries for us to visit. She made our stay extra special and I will definately stay there again.

A very enjoyable 2 night stay, with excellent breakfasts. Cottage comfortable and had everything we needed, although bathroom a little cramped. We were there to sample local wineries, and much appreciated Margrett's knowledge and helpful suggestions.

We needed a little getaway, and this is the perfect place. We had a one-bedroom with gas fireplace, just yummy for the changing weather in late October. Margrett and her assistant Chris were very helpful & engaging. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Blooming English gardens, beautifully painted little cabins with inviting front porches. Rustic, and we like that, especially at the Russian River. Comfy bed. We appreciated the TV and great wi-fi. Desk service exceptional for helpfulness and good ideas. Enjoyed breakfast meeting other guests. Nice Mexican restaurant next door. Perfect location. Would like softer pillows.

This was our 2nd stay and we love the private garden cottage setting. Rooms are a little aged but everything you need is there. Margaret, the owner is so charming, attentive, and nice you feel like you are her personal guest. The breakfast is wonderful and filling. Town is only walking distance and you have a great Mexican restaurant next door. You can shop all day, take a 15 min drive to the ocean, or visit the lovely Armstrong State Park. You can’t go worn here.

We could only stay one night because of our busy Itinerary... however, we enjoyed that one night thouroughly, and would have actually liked to spend the rest of our vacation at Fern Grove. We will come again, when our travels take us in that direction.

We stayed for two nights. The property itself is very attractive and the cottage was large and comfortable (the spacious cottage is the basis of my 'exceeded expectations' rating for the 'room'). The price seemed reasonable based on the quality and location but other than the beautiful grounds and the large cottage, there was nothing which I could say 'exceeded' expectations.

Beautiful gardens welcomed us. We had a spectacular view from our balcony table. So cozy, tucked into a hillside, a mixture of modern and quaint styles. Very accomodating innkeepers. Just what we were looking for in a getaway. We took the golf package and LOVED the Northwood golf course, all redwoods.

We had a lovely visit to one of the studio cottages for our 30th. We enjoyed the jetted garden tub immensely, but the rest of the room was a bit on the small side and it would have been nice to have a fridge. I think next time we might choose the one-bedroom cottage.

Can't go wrong with this place. The room we had was cute and cozy (touch small, but we went for the cheapest spa studio) and perfect for our romantic getaway. We loved the concierge and the couple who own the place, and really enjoyed their hospitality. Also ... scones at breakfast? Delicious! My girlfriend and I will come back in the future.

A wonderful little two day getaway place. I picked a cabin that allowed me to bring my dog and you never would have known that this cabin had ever had pets in it before! It was spotless and there wasn't any pet hair. The attendants at the front desk were very, very helpful. Great customer service. This is definitely someplace that I'd recommend and would love to visit again!

We rented the 2 bedroom cottage, which had so much atmosphere yet was clean and tidy with a kitchen, fridge, etc. In the evening free tea and sherry were laid out in the common room. Breakfast is provided and was excellent value. While Margaret's scones are very good, the home made muesli with fruit and yogurt was superb. The place is also right on the edge of the village, so one can walk to clubs, pubs, etc. -- adding to the atmosphere. The landscaping is also done with tender care - a very British attribute (in the best sense of the word) that applies to the whole place.

Our early summer weekend gettaway could not have been more pleasant, with the tone being set by the atmosphere at Fern Grove Cottages nestled amonst the redwoods. The staff and owners were most helpful with local sightseeing information and the serving of an outstanding continental breakfast in a warm family atmosphere. Our room was clean, well-kept, and pleasantly decorated. Following trips to the nearby coast and wineries, it was so peaceful to relax on the patio sampling that afternoon's purchase, afterward hightlighted by a bright display of stars overhead---so many stars that we in the city had forgotten still exist. Thanks to the innkeepers at Fern Grove Cottages---what a nice touch! Jim & Jan
