Now what would a New Orleans setting be with out a Riverboat Room theme. Decorated with a soap-stone stove in front of the old fashioned feather bed, the only thing missing is the noise from the riverboat's paddle wheel. Cozy and welcoming the old fashion black and white bathroom with a roll rim tub and a glass windowed shower brings the romance and warmth of times gone by. Watch as the sun dips in the water and paints the sky from the French doors facing the ocean. The rest is romance and a memory you'll never forget.

I spent hours searching for the perfect romantic place to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and I found it here!! I knew we wanted to come to the San Diego area, so began my search of B&B's. I had a feeling that Black Orchid would be a great place for us, so I called Linda and she was very responsive and happy to answer my questions. Now that we've stayed there and come home, I can tell you I picked the best place in Encinitas. Prices are very reasonable for all that you get. Though not the closest place to the beach, it's not far at all, and so worth the mile drive. The grounds are lush with flowers and trees. The interior decorating is beautiful. The whole property is white glove clean. The Garden room is so quiet & private. You have 2 balconies and we left both doors open, as the weather was perfect. We awoke to the sunshine peeking in, the sounds of birds chirping and water falling. Everything was exceptionally clean. The plush bed & pillows felt just like home, actually better than home! The shower & jacuzzi tub for 2 was very relaxing. Linda's breakfasts - well, there could be no better. New table settings each morning, different 3 course selections each day - fresh fruit, yogurt, french toast, bacon, sausage, hot coffee, juice. Every morning, we couldn't believe all the trouble she had gone to for us! We didn't get hungry again until the evening. We drove into San Diego each day and rode the trolley, but you could just stay in Encinitas if you didn't want to make the 30 minute drive into town. Linda & Earl are both very warm and friendly, not pushy, but there to help with anything you might need. We are so glad we stayed with them. If you are trying to decide where to stay, look no further. You'll be glad you chose Black Orchid. Thanks Earl & Linda - we'll be back!

Spent two fabulous nights at this hidden jewel. Freeway handy, but private and peaceful. Within minutes of all the offerings of San Diego. The house reminded me of the the French Quarter in New Orleans, with the beautiful wrought iron work and lush private garden. No expense was spared in creating this antique laden treasure. Sumptious bed linens and towels, jacuzzi tub and waterfall shower were both spacious and inviting. Hosts welcoming, breakfasts wonderful... french toast croissants - souffles, home made oatmeal... Relaxing in the garden and gazebo were peaceful - you can see the ocean from the private balcony. A must on your list ! Shari, HB CA

We had an enjoyable stay this past weekend with Earl and Linda. I wasn't feeling well and Linda was very considerate and allowed us to check in a little early to rest. This was indicative of the helpful attitude the entire weekend. We were particularly happy with the access to the beaches in Encindas and Cardiff-by-the-Sea. We had a great lunch at Las Olas on Sunday. Comfortable beds. Great shower. Very nice room finishes (hey, I'm a guy!!!). Linda and Earl have spent a lot of time working to make your stay comfortable. Great place for a "staycation" for the locals. Jeff & Betty B

I was amazed on the beautiful décor and details of the Black Orchid. Linda and Earl made sure my wedding anniversary was as romantic as possible. I loved all the food Linda prepared for us. We plan to be back on our next anniversary.
