Inn Details

The Riverside Inn is in the fork of the Downie and Yuba rivers in Downieville, CA. It's at the bottom of a river canyon, deep in the Tahoe National Forest on Hwy 49.
We have 11 rooms (one is a 2-room suite that can sleep 8). All rooms have a balcony over the river.
The area was called the Lost Sierra by National Geographic. It's a great place to enjoy the outdoors. Downieville is a mountain bike mecca. Other activities include fishing, gold panning, kayaking, hiking, boating, four-wheeling, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, bird watching (from quails to eagles), and much more.
It's the definition of "Getting away from it all." Friendly people, blue skies, clean air, clean water are a given. Park your car and walk all over town. Chat with the locals.

    Photo Album

One of the remodelded bathrooms. We're slowing replacing vinyl with tile and updating fixtures. Room 6 has a queen-sized bed, kitchen and propane fireplace. All our rooms have their own bathroom.
Room 4 has two double beds, a fireplace, and a refrigerator and microwave. This is what you see in the fall from #4. You can sit on your balcony and watch the leaves change. We definitely have four seasons.
See! We're not named the Riverside just because we liked the name! That's the Downie on the left and the Yuba coming in from the right. It's an early spring shot with leaves just budding out and the river running pretty high from snowmelt. This shot is of the 2-room suite. This side has two queen-sized beds and the other has one queen and a futon that makes into a double bed. It also has a claw-foot tub for a long bubble bath! The rooms connect with a kitchen and bathroom.
This is the Hwy 49 bridge. The photo was taken from one of the balconies. There are several bridges in town. We have incredibly blue skies, no smog, lots of oxygen, and considerably lower stress levels. Several people in their 90s live here and more in their 80s.You can sit or stand on the porch and watch the snow level creep down the mountains. We're only about 2900 feet, but the winters are beautiful, as are the other three seasons.
