I arranged to reserve all four rooms for ourselves and our three travel couple friends.....we were all well taken care of with little personal touches yet provided the freedom to feel like the house was all our own. This B&B is one of the best my husband and I have enjoyed and would recommend it to any of our friends for a special couple getaway.

Only wish me and my two kids could stay in one room, rollaway or blowup mattress, etc would be a fine option to save $. But we love this place. No doubt.

Beautiful Victorian home in a quiet avenue area of Chico. The home is very welcoming with a front reception area - living room, dining area, front and back porches. The room we had during our stay was huge - and so was the bathroom with shower and eagle claw bathtub. Beautifully kept yard - excellent breakfast.

Our every visit to Chico includes a stay at The Grateful Bed! A visit with Rick and Carol is like staying with family but even better! Carol and Rick are the most gracious hosts and fabulous chefs. We highly recommend this lovely BnB.

We were in Chico for a weekend and enjoyed everything about this location. The owners are warm and welcoming and have a passion for all things "Chico". They have collected a delightful and tasteful number of antiques to decorate their restored home. The breakfasts were delicious and featured local produce. We devoured everything they provided. We look forward to staying here again in the future.

Rick and Carol have something special. The house is a treasure of little diversions, every place you look you have to smile if not giggle. From the vintage ice skates and period tennis racket in the closet to the antique medicine cabinet chock full of original period items such as Bauer aspirin to the turn of the century valises pile in the corner as if a 19th century gentleman was either coming or going. The room was very comfortable, mattress was firm, bathroom was not luxurious but was functional. Breakfasts were extensive, delicious and presented beautifully. Rick and Carol are great hosts. It's the way bed and breakfast places ought to be.

We could not have asked for a better place to sleep. Cozy room (The Bed of Roses Room) with views of a tulip tree from above, views of the rose garden in front, lovely and updated amenities and antiques with a story, easy access to on-site parking, wide, tree-lined street and close to downtown without the noise. Carol and Rick are warmth exemplified. Fun to be with, witty, engaged in the city's activities (try the Seersucker Bike Ride and the Tweed Bike Ride) and most interesting guests. You have heard of the breakfasts, but they are beyond the dream. Fresh fruit from the weekly farmers' markets (there are more than one), creative dishes and the desire to be a gourmand rather than a gourmet, all add up to exceptional breakfasts. As you would expect, they are knowledgeable about the goings on in town and environs. We'll be back to savor The Grateful Bed and all it offers along with a charming downtown Chico. We highly recommend this gem for a get-away, a gourmet breakfast and peace. M. & L.
