Who could possibly resist the mellow summer afternoons or the crystal clear winter skies over Mt. Lassen? The area offers a diverse selection of recreational activities. Near the Inn are opportunities for hiking, golfing, boating, water-skiing and bike riding. You will also view multitudes of wildlife and engage in possibly the best fly-fishing in California. During the winter the Inn offers immediate access to cross-country skiing, with downhill skiing and snowmobiling nearby. December is a favorite time for Christmas tree cutting. In a "yet to be discovered" area, the Bidwell House is located on the southeastern slope of Mt. Lassen. Chester and its surrounding area are rich in the history of gold-mining, ranching and logging. The Inn provides a great resting spot between the great valley of California and points east. The Inn is perfect for hideaway seekers, honeymooners, business travelers, weddings, reunions and corporate retreats.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bidwell House. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The room was perfect and the breakfast next morning excellent. We were given a list of restaurants to eat at in the evening which was a great help. The B and B was in a great position to explore the Lassen Volcanic Park. I would certainly recommend it.

We enjoyed our one night stay very much! We were in the original house in a spacious, quiet room. Beautiful furnishings, plenty of pillows and blankets. Bathroom in our suite was very clean. Nice amenities (soap, shampoo, etc.) Nice selection of coffee and tea available all the time. The breakfast was outstanding and nicely presented and served. There was plenty of food, with several courses, all very good.

We were made very welcome from the start by Eva, one of the owners. Bidwell House is a charming property with 2 relaxing guest lounges as well as an outdoor patio area and veranda complete with the requisite rocking chairs. There were plenty of guide books and magazines available to check out the next day;'s activity. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the power shower was much appreciated after a hard day's walking. The complimentary sherry and cookies on our return each day were also very welcome. The three course breakfast was well presented and always very nicely cooked by Eva. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here

This is a tremendous place for a family get together. Excellent facility for kids to be kids and play in the great outdoors. Great things to go do in the surrounding area. We love the hosts. They are amazing and have done a really nice job of making their b&b feel like your home. We have stayed here several times and will continue to go to their place. We are planning on taking several friends there. Fall is amazing here!!!

I chose the bedroom with a shared bathroom, mid-week, in the hopes that I wouldn't have to share. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't notice any sharing. Everything was comfortable and inn-keepers very accommodating.

It was a lovely room and spot. We were in the area to hike in Lassen. The house was very cosy. I was a little disappointed with the breakfast, not because it wasn't good but it was more or less adequate. Otherwise our stay was great.

We really enjoyed our stay. A particularly well run B&B. Very comfortably furnished room with a great bed. Well situated for exploring nearby Lassen Volcanic National Park.

This was our second stay and enjoyed it even more than the first. Breakfast was definitely above average each of the three mornings, with coffee available all day. Our hosts were friendly and made us feel at home.

Stayed at the Bidwell House 2 nights. It's on the edge of town, pretty quiet, and right on the gateway to Lassen Volcanic Park. Tastefully decorated old victorian, yet has plenty of amenities such as wi-fi, etc. Our room was "Old Glory" - just beautiful, and very spacious & comfy. Innkeepers are very warm & friendly, and the breakfasts were absolutely yummy! We highly recommend it!

There are not many nice places to stay around Lassen volcanic national park, but we were lucky to find the Bidwell House. It's on the edge of town in Chester with great access to Lake Almanor. Check in is between 3-6pm, we arrived around 5:30 and there was no one to greet us. Our key was in a envelope on a counter with some info. Since we made it to the inn by check in we expected someone to be there. Our Lassen room was cute and clean. The owners also own a restaurant Red Onion Bar and Grill, we enjoyed a nice meal there.
