Who could possibly resist the mellow summer afternoons or the crystal clear winter skies over Mt. Lassen? The area offers a diverse selection of recreational activities. Near the Inn are opportunities for hiking, golfing, boating, water-skiing and bike riding. You will also view multitudes of wildlife and engage in possibly the best fly-fishing in California. During the winter the Inn offers immediate access to cross-country skiing, with downhill skiing and snowmobiling nearby. December is a favorite time for Christmas tree cutting. In a "yet to be discovered" area, the Bidwell House is located on the southeastern slope of Mt. Lassen. Chester and its surrounding area are rich in the history of gold-mining, ranching and logging. The Inn provides a great resting spot between the great valley of California and points east. The Inn is perfect for hideaway seekers, honeymooners, business travelers, weddings, reunions and corporate retreats.

From their beautiful spacious rooms to their wonderful service, we cannot recommend The Bidwell House more highly. The staff was great, breakfast was delicious, beds we're comfy, location was fantastic. If your destination is in or around Lassen, this is where you should be resting your head for a spell.

We loved our stay in the cosy house. The turn of the century design of the house was enchanting. You and your staff worked seamlessly to make our stay enjoyable. The fresh baked cookies in the evening was delightful. We recommend the Bidwell House to our friends and family.

My partner and I stayed here at the last minute for a weekend trip to Lassen National Park. It was absolutely wonderful - the house is beautiful and charming with a huge yard and porch swing. The room was very cute and clean. We got a room with a shared bathroom for $110, which included an incredible made to order breakfast for two. They were accommodating about my allergy needs also. We definitely want to go back! We are a same-sex couple and got some stares around town and from others at the Inn, but the innkeeper was very friendly to us.

This is a very nice inn on the outskirts of Chester, close to Lake Almanor and the southeast entrances to Lassen National Park. The people are very welcoming and the facilities are comfortable. Other than a balky rollaway bed, the room was excellent with nice furnishings. Excellent breakfast each morning.

Very nice B&B. The owners are very friendly. I will stay there again the next time we are in the area. We stayed in the Lassen room. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great.

We returned to the Bidwell B&B after a stay a few years ago and were not dissapointed. We stayed in the cottage, which was quite cozy and comfortable. The yard was beautiful with the large aspen trees and view of the lake. Breakfast was very nicely prepared, albeit too sweet for my taste. The hostess was as gracious as I had remembered from our first visit. We will be back! I love the Bidwell B&B because it is not stuffy or like staying in a museum!

My husband and I were very pleased with our welcome from Eva at The Bidwell House on the last night of our National Park Harley ride. Our friends were camping across in Lake Almanor and so wished they'd come to stay with us. From the lovingly manicured lawn and beautiful flowers around the property to the peaceful room with very comfy king bed, we loved it all. But especially the happy welcoming faces of the innkeepers who truly seemed to love visitors. This is a hidden gem and we will definitely be back!

The house had many places inside n out for you to relax at. We enjoyed the swinging chair. They were able to serve gluten free breakfast. The host n staff were very helpful in our requests.
