THE PRIVATE STANDALONE COTTAGE

...of the Enchanted Cottage, showing the main room, the working Franklin fireplace, and front door leading to a large front porch with tables and chairs on it. I took this picture looking from the kitchen bar, where there are bar stools for extra seating, for eating meals & snacking. The cottage sits up against a wooded hillside, and has big antique glass windows that look out into the forest from the bedside, and all around in the cottage.
There is a 32 flat screen TV, BLU-RAY PLAYER, AN I-POD DOCK. A FEW STEPS BELOW THE COTTAGE IS A WOODLAND PATIO WITH FIRE-BBQ RING. WHEN TAKEN BY A SMALL GROUP OF FOUR TO SIX FRIENDS AND/OR FAMILY, THIS main ROOM SERVES AS a SLEEPING ROOM AT NIGHT.
THE STANDALONE COTTAGE THIS IS THE FRONT VIEW OF THE STANDALONE COTTAGE; IT SITS AGAINST A WOODED HILLSIDE; AND PICTURES THE COTTAGE'S PRIVATE FRONT PORCH, AT DUSK. THERE ARE TABLES AND CHAIRS ON THE FRONT PORCH, A GREAT WAY TO SPEND TIME, READING, EATING, TALKING, TASTING WINE, OR JUST SITTING QUIETLY, LISTENING TO THE BIRDS SING WHILE THE SUN COMES UP, (OR GOES DOWN).
THE STANDALONE COTTAGE
SITTING ON THE FRONT PORCH OF THE STANDALONE COTTAGE AT DUSK, YOU CAN LOOK ACROSS THE VALLEY TO THE PALISADES MOUNTAINS; YOU HAVE LOTS OF GREENERY ALL AROUND, AND YOU LOOK DOWN TO THE GUEST SHARED PATIO, AND THE ROOFTOP OF THE MAIN COTTAGE, ABOUT 100 FEET BELOW.
THE STANDALONE COTTAGE
THIS IS PART OF THE MAIN ROOM IN THE COTTAGE,AND CAN BE USED FOR A SMALL GATHERING, WATCHING THE 32 INCH TV, WATCHING MOVIES FROM THE BLUE-RAY PLAYER, WATCHING THE FLAMES IN THE REAL FRANKLIN FIREPLACE, FOR EATING SOMETIMES, AND FOR SLEEPING. THE STANDALONE COTTAGE KITCHEN IS PICTURED BEYOND AND ADJACENT TO THE MAIN ROOM.
THE PRIVATE STANDALONE COTTAGE
THE KITCHEN IS A HANDMADE KITCHEN BY SHEILA AND GASTON GEORIS, OF THE FAMOUS CASANOVA RESTAURANT IN CARMEL CA., MADE WITH PINE, TILE, AND EUROPEAN HAND PLASTER.
WITH A REFRIGERATOR, STOVE TOP, COFFEEMAKER, MICROWAVE, TOASTER OVEN, AND SLOW COOKER, AND SOME COOKWARE, PLATES, AND SILVERWARE, IT IS EQUIPPED FOR LITE TO MEDIUM COOKING AND SNACKING.
THERE IS A TABLE WITH FOUR CHAIRS BEHIND ME, WITH SOME ANTIQUE DOORS AND ANTIQUE GLASS WINDOWS THAT LOOK OUT INTO THE OLD ROCK WALLS AND WOODED AREA THAT ARE RIGHT OUTSIDE.
THE STANDALONE COTTAGE IT SITS QUIETLY UP AGAINST A RUSTIC WOODED HILLSIDE. THIS IS ANOTHER SLEEPING AREA, A NOOK WITH HUGE ANTIQUE GLASS WINDOWS AROUND IT, THAT OPEN THE FOREST VIEWS FROM THE BEDSIDE. THE BED IS A QUEEN SIZE, FOUR-POSTER FEATHER BED. AFTER DINNER, YOU CAN SIT IN FRONT OF THE FIREPLACE WITH YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC, OR SPEND A FEW HOURS ON YOUR PRIVATE FRONT PORCH , SIP SOME GREAT NAPA VALLEY WINES, TELL STORIES, AND LAUGH A LOT, AND, THEN, CRAWL INTO A WARM BED... THERE IS A COZY BED WARMER IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE IT, ON THE BED SO YOU CAN WARM THE BED BEFORE YOU GET IN, FOR CHILLY NIGHTS...
THE STANDALONE COTTAGE and THE COTTAGE-LIKE PRIVATE SWEET; BOTH HAVE PRIVATE, FULL BATHS, WITH COMBINED CLAW FOOT TUBS (THAT HAVE BEEN IN THE COTTAGES FOR PERHAPS 180 YEARS), AND SHOWERS.

Thank you for a quiet and relaxing weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your suite! The two beds in there worked out perfectly for the two of us. And the morning coffee and basket were perfect. This place is romantic enough for two or has enough space for other people to tag along.

Had a delightful stay at this inn in Oct 2012! Everything meet or exceeded our expectations. Don't know what i can say that hasn't been said already looking at other reviews on here. For us we were able to get to all our appointments at the spas and wineries quite easily due to the great location of this inn. A few steps to downtown but yet secluded. The historic cottage we stayed in had everything we have at home and then some.Sweet, glowing little white lights that come on at dusk on the cottage front porch, a warm greeting when you arrive back for that sit down relaxing home time. the last glass of wine, front porch & fireplace time. We will be back with friends next year and take the other cottage as well and do some partying and some fun time together. We love the Napa Valley.

We stayed here for our one-year anniversary and had such a sweet, relaxing time together. It was in the high 90s that weekend, but they already had the a/c on for us, cooling the cabin down. We were met with the same consideration the next day when we came back from a sweltering bike tour - the a/c turned on and a cool cabin waiting for us. The four-poster bed is a little elegance out of place from the shabby-chic quality of the rest of the place, but I loved that incongruity. It was such a comfortable comfortable bed for some very stressed out people looking for a relaxing weekend. We were delighted to find we could walk to the center of town so quickly, and then retreat to our rustic little hideaway at the end of the night. White Christmas lights ring the porch, leaving such a romantic glow to come home to. We loved peeking out the window in the morning to see the breakfast basket on the porch, and then fetching it to eat the simple but wholesome breakfast in bed. SO relaxing. It was too hot to use the fireplace, unfortunately, but they made sure we had a little starter log available even if we wanted to go for it anyway! It's not a 5-star resort, but it's also not plasticky/cookie cuttery. It's a lovely, relaxing place to stay.

4.2 out of 5Nice homely and private experience
July 03, 2012
With this being my first time staying at a bed & breakfast, I didn't know exactly what to expect. I am used to hotels, but I did know that during my trip to Calistoga I wanted to stay somewhere homely, inviting, and different for one night, and I got just that. My lady and I stayed in the suite for one night, and really enjoyed our stay. Upon arriving to the area, you instantly notice it is in a private, almost hidden wooded area. It's a quick walk from the downtown area that has shops, restaurants, and bars. The suite has a nice porch with tables and seats, which you can take advantage of on those warm nights when you want to have a drink or bite to eat in the nice weather. We were surprised at how spacious the inside of the suite was. A living room area with 2 couches, and 2 bedrooms was more than enough for us. There was also another room with a 3rd bed that they will open up for you if you have a bigger party. The place included a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, silverware and cups/glasses, for those leftovers you bring back from dinner, or if you decide to hit the local Calmart for something to eat. In the morning, you are left a basket containing fruit, croissants, cheese, butter, juice, different types of tea, and coffee with sugar and creamer, to brew in the coffee maker. It's not a big fancy breakfast, but I enjoyed it and it was enough to fill our stomachs for the morning as we planned on hitting a local restaurant for lunch. I really enjoyed my stay and would come back again. The staff was very nice and even offered free wifi and suggested things to do in the area. If you are very specific, or an OCD neat freak, a stay at a spa resort would probably suit you better. But if you want something more intimate that makes you feel like you are staying at someone's house and are welcome to make it your place, this is definitely one of the better options in the Calistoga area.

If you are into the "corporate owned" predictable scene... the "Martha Stewart Look-a-likes" or "Sunset Glam", this isn't for you... If you're into ENCHANTING, UNIQUE, ARTISTIC, CREATIVE, CLEVER, QUIET, COZY, COMFY, RELAXING, ACCEPTING OF PETS, CLEAN, GRACIOUS HOSTESS & HOST, with WELCOMING SMILES.... You've come to the right place! Rebecca has put together an amazing cottage scene. A blast from the past-!!! If this place doesn't get your creative side going, nothing will! I just love the decor, unpretentious Thrift Store excellence! With REAL ANTIQUES that you can actually use! Like the upright piano, depression glass dishes and stone fireplace! Notice the architectural touches... Hansel & Gretel windows, glass knobs, arched doorways. Yes, don't forget the cozy comfy bed, kitchenette amenities, claw-foot soaking tub and lots of places to hang out and just day-dream! Walk across the street and you enter into the bustle of town. Return "home" and you're in another world! If you need to decompress, work on that novel, or just re-create, this is for you! Check out Rebecca's photos, I really like "The Unmade Bed!" She's an artist with cottages to share! Feel the creativity? My pugs LOVED the place. It's so clean and fresh, even with pet visitors!!! I hope you'll choose to leave the Corporate chi-chi & high $$$$$ stays behind and instead find yourself surrounded with the expression of an artist! Follow the twinkly lights to The Enchanted Cottages-! ENJOY AND DARE TO DREAM AGAIN!!!

We stayed at the Enchanted Cottage for 2 nights--which wasn't enough. We were greeted and given a brief tour of the cottage. It had everything you would need and was quite private, rustic and romantic all in one. There is a table and chairs for 2 on the porch for use as well as a small kitchen with a small refrigerator and cooktop. We enjoyed the breakfast basket in the morning with the muffins, fruit, juice and coffee. We highly recommend this place if you are in Calistoga.
4.2 out of 5Rustic Modern
May 16, 2012
Reminds us of a place we use to stay years ago. It was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast. Wanted privacy, but also didn't want to be to far away from town. The cottage was cozy and romantic. Rustic and beautiful in it's own way, a one of a kind find gem. We were able to walk to downtown Calistoga quite easily also. The cottage has a wonderful comfortable mattress on the bed, we slept well . Liked the basket in the morning with the muffins, cheese, fruit juice and coffee. Didn't use the kitchen for cooking but it looked like everything was there for that. This place might not work for those looking for a sterile hotel environment. This place is surrounded by woods and vegetation. We do recommend this place for a different experience. Also if you are light sensitive, make sure you unplug the little white lights on the porch before retiring.
