    Romantic weekend stay

    June 12, 2013

We stayed in the Carriage House, a separate building away from the historic main house, which, we were told, was converted from a barn. It has six rooms. We stayed in one of the upstairs rooms, which was small but adequate, though stuffy since it was warm. The overhead fan helped, but was too noisy to keep on during the night. The main issue though, were the thin walls: we could hear people in the rooms next to us and below us walking and !!! during the night. I think next time we'll opt to stay in the main house... The "gourmet" breakfasts each morning were indeed delicious and beautfully prepared. It was worth the sacrifice of getting up early to enjoy breakfast between 8:30 and 9 a.m. The innkeeper and owner, Stan, was very welcoming and shared some interesting and entertaining stories. We got a discounted rate through LivingSocial, which made our stay very affordable. Thank you, Stan, for your great hospitality!

The Knickerbocker is a fabulous place to stay.

    May 20, 2013

This was our second visit. The historical mansion is full of charm and the inkeeper Stan is a delightful man. Fabulous breakfasts. We will return. My only complaint has to do with some of the room amenities in the penthouse. The CD player was broken, there was no coffee in the coffee station, and the electric tea pot was missing a cord. These are small problems though, easily remedied, and not reasons to think twice about going. GO! You'll love it.

    Weekend scrapbooking at the Mansion

    May 19, 2013

When you stay at the Knickerbocker Mansion, you are tucked away enough to feel your in your own little forest area, but walking distance to shopping and the Lake. We are part of a group that uses the conference center for scrapbooking on a yearly basis. The breakfasts, and Weekend Dinner at their bistro are truly anticipated. The grounds are fun to explore, and the downstairs gathering/dining area feels at home.

    Wonderful Getaway

    April 09, 2013

My girlfriend and I had the greatest time staying at the Knickerbocker Mansion! It was our anniversary. That place is fantastic. Every nook and cranny is decorated with something interesting. We started taking pictures on the first floor and before we knew it we had taken 200 pictures. We stayed in the Penthouse Suite. That was another hundred or so pictures. The room was warm, cozy and very romantic. I felt so at home in the penthouse suite. Every single member of the staff treated us like family. They couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. The breakfast was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Robert (the chef) served a variation of a Denver Omelet, Robert's special potatoes and two types of delicious scones. Robert hung around so we could ask him questions about the meal ... and he was more than happy to give us a little history of the Mansion. The owner is a down to earth, friendly guy. His name is Stan Miller and if you Google him (Stan Miller Sound) you will be amazed at just how famous he is. It was plain to see that the Knickerbocker Mansion is a labor of love for Stan and the rest of the crew. We hated to leave the place, but we are certainly coming back - I still have to ask Stan if he knows Steely Dan, Pete Townsend and a few more. We both felt like we were leaving friends behind. What a wonderful experience!
