My husband and I stayed in Cienaga Creek's Mountain Sunset cabin for three relaxing nights. This is a perfect mountain retreat for anyone who wants to enjoy the wintry landscape without the frenzied throngs of skiers & snowboarders. The ranch is only 15 minutes from Big Bear, but a world away in terms of beauty and seclusion. Our cabin had a huge jacuzzi tub as well as a double-sized shower. There were three skylights through which we enjoyed sights of the moon and trees. The bed was very comfortable and loaded with blankets. There was a nice assortment of pillows that were also very comfortable. The cabin was spotlessly clean, and everything we needed was neatly stored in the compact kitchen. When we arrived there were two enormous cinnamon rolls waiting for us, and a couple of dog biscuits for our German Shepherd mix. Our dog gobbled up her biscuits in a flash, but it took us two days to finish our yummy treats. Each day Vickie, the proprietress, would bring another freshly baked treat to our cabin. We rented snow shoes and enjoyed hiking all around the private acres that surround the cabins, then returned to our cozy cabin for a blazing fire in the fireplace. There's an animal compound nearby that is home to a lion, and each day we could hear the lion's roar echo across the valley. That was pretty dramatic, especially the first time we heard it! It's really a great place, graciously run by Vickie and Scott, and we can't wait to go back!

My wife, dog and I have been going up to Cienaga Creek ranch for the past 4 years. We typed in Dog Friendly Big Bear and got lucky! First it is a fantastic location, if you really want to get away from the world for a short while THIS is your place. Gorgeous location in the middle of the forest with only a few other cabins nearby. Dog was in heaven as there was ALWAYS snow and being off leash is a BIG DEAL for us. He even climbed to the top of some of the hills and went down on our sled! Cabins are very very cozy. always clean with great wood burning fireplace. Vickie delivers a fresh baked pastry every day and they are delicious. our first year we had a flat tire, her husband came down and fixed it for us free of charge very very quickly. They really do take care of their guests. Just being there makes us relax and reenergize. We are moving back to the East Coast this year and our ONLY regret is that we won't be able to go back! We will miss Vickie and her dog Duke too. Do not miss out on this place if you desire peace, serenity and wonderful location, along with great customer service.
