My girlfriends and I stayed in this B&B for a weekend, and we all want to come back. It has a superb location and everything worth seeing seem to be within walking distance. There's also a parking structure right across the street. The staff is friendly, the facility very clean and the rooms are charming with comfortable beds. A large cat lives at the hotel as well. My only wish is that breakfast offered more healthier options, like eggs or cereal. There were only croissants and muffins.

The Golden Gate Hotel is in an ideal location in the Union Square district, and the price is very reasonable for San Francisco. Getting to the cable cars was a short walk. It was close to Chinatown too where we had scheduled a walking tour with WokWiz (highly recommend). Our room with bath was small but very comfortable. I love the historical decor including the old photos lining the hall walls. The sweet dog and cat were nice additions to the friendly and homey feeling of the inn. We chose a very busy and unusually hot weekend to visit San Francisco with temperatures approaching 90 degrees! Since there's no air conditioning, the office let us borrow a fan which we were thankful for, and we opened our windows. Still, sleeping was difficult with the outside noise. The continental breakfast was very good but the dining area was crowded, and it was difficult to find a seat on both days of the weekend. The hotel staff seemed especially frazzled during the breakfast hour. All in all, it was a very nice stay, and the weather and crowd was not within their control. I would recommend this lovely hotel to anyone visiting the city who is looking for a more personal and different kind of hotel experience.

Golden Gate Hotel in San Francisco is an excellent choice for your next stay in the city. It's conveniently positioned and very well managed. The personnel is attentive and passionate. The breakfast is served in the cozy parlor on the ground floor and it feels just right. Front side rooms have a better view and nicer windows. Absolutely recommended!

Small but very pleasant room. Nice atmosphere. The breakfast was very tasty, but I would prefer a few healthy options. Oatmeal? The location is excellent. I would recommend this.

We have loved the Golden Gate since we first stayed here in 1983. The rooms are delightful, full of cosy touches; owners and staff are friendly and breakfast in the parlour encourages conversation with fellow guests; the resident animals are charming.

Rooms clean and tidy. Absolutely no problem sharing shower/toilet with 3 other rooms!! Breakfast was tasty and served by very pleasant staff!!! Is close to cable cars and other area attractions. This was our second time staying here prior to a cruise, and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

this is amazing little hotel right in the heart of San Francisco. It's very easy to get around. located around some amazing little restaurants and taverns. the owners pay attention to every detail and they are there to help you 24 /7. they have an amazing pet cat who is so sweet and lays up on the reception desk to greet you when you come in. we really felt like home

We stayed 3 nights at this B&B and enjoyed our stay very much. The building is old and the rooms are small, but the location is convenient to a cable car line and within walking distance of Union Square, Nob Hill and Chinatown. The staff was friendly and helpful and went out of their way to recommend places to see and things to do. I would stay here again.
