The Bear Creek Inn is a premier Merced bed and breakfast, historically known as "The White House". It is a Colonial-style home on spacious grounds with gardens and fruit trees. Three suites and a cottage, with private baths, period décor, feather queen/king beds and down comforters. Memorable breakfasts are served in the main dining room. Serving the business and leisure guest. Owned by descendants of early Merced County farmers who maintain farming history and inn keeping tradition of the Hooper family since 1850. Visit Merced, spend the night here!

    October 16, 2012

As a native of Merced, CA, I always wondered about the big white house on the corner of Bear Creek. It always seemed quiet and I never knew it had the potential to be a popular bed and breakfast! If you are looking for a quaint and quiet place to rest and relax in Merced, the Gateway to Yoesmite, then look no further than the Bear Creek Inn. I stayed in the upstairs suite and the room and amentities were outstanding, inlcuding a deck to walk out on and feel the Merced sunshine before/after breakfast. My only complaint was that the bed was extremely firm. A pleasant staff member was available in the morning to serve a fresh and delicious breakfast. Snacks and drinks are available in the kitchen at all times, and there is both a living room and a sun room to enjoy a cup of coffee and/or conversation. I was worried I wouldn't find a nice place to spend my wedding night in Merced, but the Bear Creek Inn offered the perfect and unexpected atmosphere to add to a memorable part of my life.

The best place to stay in Merced

    July 25, 2012

All of the hotels in Merced are right next to the freeway and tend to be a bit noisy. The inn is just a little slice of heaven far from the busy freeway, still next to a busy street but not much of an annoyance at all. The staff are all very friendly and anxious to help with anything we needed. We even stayed an extra day because we enjoyed it so much. The rooms are very nice, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the breakfasts were wonderful. I can't think of anything that could have improved our stay and we look forward to our next visit.

Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, wonderful stay!

The "White House" is indeed a treasure, and it was so pleasant to come back from a day of work to the calm and peacefulness of its surroundings. The day starts off with a wonderful breakfast and fascinating guests to converse with and Rhonda and Samantha served exceptional breakfasts and even put the recipes in the cookbook that I bought. Thanks to all of you for a delightful visit!
