We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation here this past weekend. The room was clean and the place is very cute - fire pit in the back, hammock under the stars, cute property way off the beaten path, the only sound the occasionally howling wind or crickets. The food was AMAZING. Carrie is an amazing cook - she killed it with the strawberry stuffed french toast. She respects your privacy and is really laid back and sweet. I should also mention she fresh baked cookies every day and they were soooo good.

We had debated between the Desert Lily and the "other" funky place, which we drove by on the way into town. What a wrong choice that would have been! First, DL is not on Hwy 62, a major artery with 60 mph traffic. In fact, it is more than halfway along the Park Blvd between the town of JT and the park entrance and so very convenient. It is on a rocky dirt road in the JT Highlands, a private community with houses on the desert hillside with plenty of room between them. It would be tricky to find in the dark so plan to arrive in daylight and do not arrive early, as you'll need to wait for the 4pm check-in time for the door to be opened. Carrie has exquisite taste and is sophisticated and smart; she doesn't suffer fools gladly so don't be one. If you are a reasonably appreciative and thoughtful guest, you will be welcomed into a warm family of like-minded hikers, gourmets, mountaineers and hipsters. We enjoyed our fellow guests almost as much as we did the desert and spent an evening around the fire pit with a bottle of wine (courtesy of Carrie) talking into the wee hours. Carrie herself is funny and cool and has lived a very interesting life. The hiking in the park is breath-taking and Carrie supplies all the information/guidebooks you might desire, as well as restaurant tips well-matched to her accurate read of your tastes. The DL is IN the desert, which means steps from the patio are quail, jackrabbits, lizards, cholla, etc. Everything is lovely, everywhere you look, and all your needs are anticipated. Breakfast is visually lovely as well as delicious and there is always free wine, chocolate, cookies and hot drinks. This is the ONLY place to stay that serves breakfast and absolutely the most lovely setting and best value in JT. Please stay away if you need to: make your reservation by phone at 3AM, watch TV, eat junk food for breakfast or are generally a high-maintenance, selfish type.

We spent 2 wonderful days and nights with Carrie at the Desert Lily B&B. Carrie is a fantastic host, spectacular breakfast chef and great conversationalist. Lots of fun. Carrie directed us to local hikes and dinner venues (dont' miss Pappy and Harriets). The room was quiet and cozy. The home was designed very well, and provides a wonderful sunny courtyard, protected from the wind. We will recommend the Desert Lily to all of our friends heading out to Joshua Tree. We will definatly be back.

This B&B is cozy, clean, relaxing and beautiful for a reasonable price! Chris our host and excellent cook was really nice and helpful with information about what to see and do in the area. I highly recommend The Desert Lily for your Joshua Tree visit.

Fantastic, richly simple, cozy, heartwarming inn. Colorful rooms, friendly affable hostess Carrie helps you settle in with a glass of port and recommendations for your trip or solitude, your choice. Hearty, healthy breakfast in a warm environment, cozy bed, and outdoor chimenea without the bother of TV

We had a wonderful stay. A very relaxing place to spend a night or two. Carrie and Bob were very accomodating without being intrusive. Their stories alone are worth the stay. The food was very good, the room was very comfortable. They think of everything...the room had backpacks, coolers, sunblock, games, books, even Q-tips! We look forward to gong back, which is the highest compliment we can give.

We enjoyed our stay at the Desert Lily immensely. We stayed in the small house and enjoyed all the "touches/extras" provided such as availabilty of all appliances including BBQ, fire pit right down to flashlights for walking or hiking in the evenings. The bed in the living room - yes in the living room was so unique - you would go to sleep looking at stars and wake up to a beautiful view of the desert. We would recommend anyone interested in hiking in the Joshua Tree National Park consider a stay at the Desert Lily as it is situated so near to the park.

We just returned from spending three nights at the Desert Lily B&B. We had a wonderful experience. The inkeeper is great and the Desert Lily is a welcoming place to stay. #1. Carrie is a fabulous breakfast cook! Simply amazing! #2. Our room was clean and welcoming and had everything we needed. #3. The dining room and patio was a great place for us to visit with each other, borrow books and games to play, and relax in comfort. #4. If you visit, don't forget to enjoy the stars on one of the hammocks and take a romantic walk on the Desert Lily property. We will definitely return to this B&B!
