5 out of 5Thank you Seven Sycamores!!!!
August 24, 2012
My partner and I stayed at the seven sycamores in the spring and it was such an magical experience!!! We got to talk around the orange grove, play with peacocks, and pick fresh oranges and fruit straight from the trees. The sunsets out there are also AMAZING. It is also very intimate and quiet ... and the perfect escape from our city lives. Mikka (the property manager) was also super friendly to us and had fresh fruit and complimentary continental breakfast for us every day that we were there. This place is the perfect country escape nook and a hidden gem!!!!

We spent 2 nights in the Seven Sycamores Ranch. It was a really bad experience. We have to wait almost 1 hour under the sun until, after several calls, somebody came to open the door. We had booked the "Bunk House", that is a tiny and dirty cottage close to the big house. We tried to have a shower, but we only had extremely hot water. We called the owner, Bob, that is a very kind gentleman. He came and invited us to stay at the Hummingbird Cottage. It is a farmers house nice but dark and dirty. At least we could have warm water and have a shower. We did not have proper breakfast but a basket with fruits and a cake made by Mikka, the person in charge of reservations, the first day. She promised to refresh the fruit but she did not come the second day. Nobody took care of us and I paid $50 for cleaning although nobody came to clean and make the beds. So, in short a horrible experience.
Innkeeper Response
I'm very sorry you had a bad experience here at Hummingbird Cottage. We strive to make every stay here as comfortable as possible. While both places, The Bunk House and Hummingbird Cottage are older homes, they are cleaned thoroughly before each stay, we are not a hotel so the cleaning fee is not for the cleaning during the stay but for the cleaning afterwards, which is specified in the details of the online listing, as well as our website. We offer fresh fruits and baked breads as well as a continental breakfast of assorted packaged pastries, a variety of flavored oatmeal & cereals, breakfast bars and more, but have not ever promised a full fledged breakfast- the Bunk House does not come equipped with a full kitchen. We upgraded this guest to a larger home (which does have a fully functional kitchen) due to the problems with the hot water and sincerely apologized for the mix up in checking in. We hope to have another chance with this guest and others and show exactly how charming the Hummingbird Cottage really is.
