The Rainbow Inn is a five-room upscale B&B located in the picturesque art town of Idyllwild, two hours from LA and San Diego, one hour from Palm Springs, nestled among majestic pine trees and towering granite mountains. The Inn is located on nearly an acre of wooded land adjacent to Strawberry Creek. The Rainbow Inn is an excellent place to relax and unwind, or to have your wedding or other event in our conference facility.

Rainbow Inn was the perfect B&B for our short stay in Idyllwild. We planned the trip just a few days in advance and many other lodges and B&Bs were either fully booked or required a two-night stay. We are so happy that Rainbow Inn had a couple of rooms still available for a 1-night stay (they ended up booking all of the rooms in time for the weekend). John, the proprietor, could not have been more gracious and helpful in making our 24-hours in Idlyllwild perfect. The Inn and our room (Bear Den) were cozy, comfortable and immaculately clean. He has a fantastic DVD collection and we enjoyed watching movies before bed time. John provided us with recommendations for restaurants and hiking, including maps, trail and parking permits. He made a delicious, homemade, full breakfast - French toast, yogurt with fruit and granola, lean turkey bacon, coffee, juices, tea, etc. The room rates are more than reasonable - easily half of a typical hotel rate - and certainly more charming than a hotel. We will definitely stay with John again on a return trip.

Lovely, well-maintained, and immensely charming place -- our favorite among the many B&Bs and Inns in little Idyllwild. John is a wonderful host and cooks delicious breakfasts. Can't recommend it highly enough.

The Rainbow Inn Bed & Breakfast is a very good choice for a pleasant stay at Idyllwild. Rooms are clean and comfortable. There are many DVD movies available, of which I took advantage. The inn location is good - just a bit outside of the main town area so it's very close but you don't get the street noise. The innkeeper, John, is an excellent host and cook! Breakfast was very good and he was extremely friendly and accommodating. I was impressed that he remembered all of the guest's names at breakfast. Overall, I would definitely stay there again.

Last week we spent two fabulous nights at the Rainbow Inn. The B&B was amazing down to the smallest appointments both in our rooms and the large family room area provided to all guests. The owner and our host, John Simpson, was outstanding and provided for every need, from reading glasses in the salon to Tums late at night, to warm down jackets and umbrellas when the weather went down to 38 degrees. He even called us when it started snowing so that we excited Floridians could snap pictures and frolic on the the veranda.I have stayed at numerous B&B's all over this country and Canada and this was the best overall experience. Thank you John for giving us the feeling of family, way up in Idyllwild CA.

What a fantastic everything-- location, every aspect of our stay, the inn itself, & especially John. John is the best host we've ever encountered at a B & B anywhere. If you're near & don't stay here you've cheated yourself big time. Simply the best, , H & H from Miami, Fl

We stayed for 1 night after visiting Palm Springs. It was a wonderful quiet B&B walking distance to the center of town. There is a river and small nature reserve behind the inn. The owner gave us a wonderful room with jacuzzi bath and fireplace. The room was wide and clean, everything we need was taken care of, so we were very comfortable. In the morning he cooked breakfast that was truly 5 star. We love this place and want to come back with our Japanese family.

The Rainbow Inn on Strawberry Creek in Idyllwild was a fabulous experience....just what we needed for a restful weekend! We were greeted upon arrival by our gracious and warm innkeeper, John, who gave us a tour of the inn and its many amenities. Our room (The Music Room) was perfect for us. We were able to see all of the other rooms during our tour as well as we were the first to arrive....all of them were tastefully appointed. This B&B is clean and modern....a welcome change from the B&Bs I have stayed in which are normally decorated like Grandma's house. John is a photographer and many of his photographs grace the walls. The terrace off of the guest lounge and dining room became a favorite spot to sit and enjoy. It overlooks the beauty of the grounds surrounding the inn. Several water features are located around the gardens and grounds, the sound of which is quite soothing. There is also a creek running behind the property with seating alongside for those who wish to contemplate the beauty surrounding them. Our breakfasts were delicious and substantial. Loved the wine tasting from 4-6 PM on Saturday evening. Fun to meet the other guests and have John join us over a glass of wine. I will DEFINITELY return to this inn in the future

Our stay began with John walking up to introduce himself as we pulled in, he warmly welcomed us, showed us around, asked if we had any dietary restrictions, suggested a few nice spots for us to walk to dinner. The next morning we sauntered over to the cozy lounge where John was just about to serve breakfast. We had a delicious meal around a communal table where we made some new friends as we enjoyed a 2nd cup of coffee. The backyard is inviting and expansive with lounge areas and a hammock. Even though the center of town is just a 5 minute walk, it's hard to decide whether to spend the afternoon lounging around the hotel, or walking to town. Saturday featured a free wine tasting on the back deck, with John popping a variety of nice wines for pleasant conversation as the mountain breeze blew. The hotel has an extensive DVD library of movies should you want to stay in, John is warm and personal, and feels like an old friend right off the bat. A great stay, we will be back...

Very welcoming B and B. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing in the charming backyard. Breakfast was delicious. John was always available to share stories and knowledge of the surrounding town and hiking areas. We look forward to returning and highly recommend the Rainbow Inn.
