The Cub Inn B&B is the newest B&B in Groveland CA. Built entirely of 8" dia. Swedish Cope Pine Logs on 3 quiet, alpine forested acres, near town but far from civilization, our home and B&B was completed and opened April 2009. Using true Post and Beam Log Home design, the three 14" dia. X 48' long Purlins supporting the roof soar over 27 feet above the Great Room floor. Authentic nine foot raftered beam ceilings are found on both the first and second floors. Facing North, the Glass Windowed Prow looks thru a dense alpine forest toward the mountains beyond. Not far from town, but away from the noise of Highway 120, this setting offers a quiet, tranquil wooded retreat where you can truly relax and enjoy nature at its finest.

Without a doubt the cutest place and welcoming of our entire vacation. The manager is very interesting and kind: we waited till late in the morning, during an awesome breakfast gave us all infocentre necessary for a perfect visit to the park. The awakening with deer leaves you speechless and the cats and the dog are wonderful. Thanks

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Cub Inn during the warmest days of summer 2014. Joe and Char are casual, very generous, and engaging hosts; their knowledge of the area and Yosemite proved valuable and accurate. The pets, both domestic and wild, add to the ambience and family-like feel of the stay. The local deer seem to enjoy the hospitality of our hosts as well; we were treated to several visits of charming mule deer families while having morning coffee on the deck! I have only one caution, if one is allergic to cats, perhaps a different venue would suit you better; the cats are everywhere, and though discouraged from entering guest rooms, the cat allergens are hard to avoid.

The house was cozy and the service was outstanding. Joe stayed up to wait for us when we had to take a long detour and arrived very late. The only thing to note is that there are cats and a dog in the house that was not mentioned anywhere on the website - may be a surprise for someone who is allergic. But otherwise everything is great.
Hello. Thanks for your review of The Cub Inn B&B. We always try to meet and exceed our guest's expectations and the reviews really help us to improve our offerings. I was happy to accommodate your late arrival due to the El Portal Fire in Yosemite and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us; we enjoyed meeting and getting to know you too. Regarding the Dog and Cats not being listed on our website, I included an entire paragraph about our pets and other creatures that live up here in the forest, specifically for the purpose of informing anyone with severe allergies to be very aware of what they'll find here and in the local environment: http://www.thecubinn.com/index.htm is the location of that paragraph, on our Home Page. We want everyone who stays here to have a great experience and, even if it means staying somewhere else, we want everyone to have a great experience while in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Yosemite National Park. thanks again for your review and comments. Stayed 3 days in July At The Cub Inn B&B in Char's Room - What a great experience. From the beginning, the hosts were cordial and very friendly. We were given a great recommendation for dinner (The PML Grill Restaurant) and enjoyed late evening wine and cheese with other guests and our hosts. Char's Room is spacious and well appointed. While there are 4 kitties in the house (and Cubby, the dog) we found the ground floor location pleasant with no liter odor. The QS bed was firm with a modern pillow-top and very comfortable. Char's Room has the only "antique" in the house, a 100 year old claw-foot bathtub. Mornings are greeted with deer, right at our doorstep, what a treat! I knew from previous reviews that Joe's breakfasts were legendary but our breakfast was even better - eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, strawberries ---- the works. Needless to say, we'll be back. Can't wait.

The Folks at Cub Inn are super nice. My sister ended up sleeping on floor because the bed was so uncomfortable The hallway and entrance to Char's room smell like cat urine. The breakfast was set at 8 am with no flexibility, not my idea of a vacation.

My family, friend and I recently stayed a couple of nights at the Cub Inn B&B and enjoyed our stay there. The rooms and breakfast met our expectations, which were high. What we didn't expect was the extras that Joe provided us without an extra charge. As we were going on a 6 hour hike on the Panorama Trail, Joe made sure we left with full stomachs with a hearty breakfast and provided us with fruit and the makings for sandwiches to take with us on the hike. We didn't expect that and it was much appreciated. We also appreciated the opportunity to wash some of our soiled clothes from that day, again without nickel and diming us. That too was appreciated. The hot water felt great in the showers. The beds were comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. Joe was very friendly and is quite knowledgeable about many things. An easy person to converse with and listen to. We gladly recommend staying at the Cub Inn.

I would. Simply outstanding. If you like log cabins with a home-type atmosphere, you will enjoy the Cub Inn. The room was very comfortable, the log and slate shower simply amazing. We were greeted the next morning by deer in the yard. The innkeepers Joe and Charlene are as friendly and helpful as you will meet. In our one night stay we met guests from Canada, New Zealand and Span. Joe's breakfasts are great but his stories are even better.

We truly enjoyed our stay, and I normally prefer a hotel, but this was a terrific alternative. Beautiful new home located in a natural wooded setting complete with tame deer grazing on the property. Joe Riley, the proprietor was very friendly and helpful, giving us very good tips on how to make the most of our trip to Yosemite. The location was very good too. Only 24 miles from the entrance to the Park. Our room was named "Pam" and it was very clean and spacious.

We only spent one night at the Cub Inn, but it was very memorable. Char and Joe are superb hosts. Cohost Cubby, the Bull Terrier, and her cat buddies provided gentle entertainment. The wild "pet" deer were also a plus. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Each one had a huge beautiful bathroom. Our fellow guests included a German couple and an English couple. They are less than an hour from Yosemite. Great accommodations and company topped off by Joe's secret Crepe recipe for breakfast. We highly recommend the Cub Inn. Jim and Barb Blaine Springfield MO
