Monte Verde Inn

We were upgraded to the King room #5 with fireplace upon arrival, and the room was very nice- large and roomy. It is right next to the main office but it wasn't noisy at all. The bathroom was tiny but it was functional. The shower was excellent! We enjoyed the fireplace, and lit a fire on our return from dinner at The Flying Fish (which wasn't very good). The inn is in a great location for shopping, restaurants, and an easy walk to the beach for sunsets! The innkeeper gave us plastic cups so we could take a bottle of wine to the beach. There is a nearby store to purchase wine, cheese, groceries, etc. Innkeeper made restaurant reservations for us, too! Parking was on site and limited but you can walk everywhere easily. Be prepared to shop!!! Stores offer a variety of items, and there are plenty of places to get a drink or a meal as well. An excellent vacation spot!! Easy 45 minute drive to Big Sur, and close to 17 mile Drive on Pebble Beach as well. Thank you Monte Verde Inn for making our stay so awesome!!

Very disappointing. Room was tiny. Breakfast was an egg, juice, yogurt & wierd bread served at 8:15 a.m. If you want it sooner, too bad. Guess that's why they required full payment upon check-in.

I am so sorry to hear about your disappointment, though, judging from your unwillingness to pay for your room at check in, I am not completely surprised. I feel that your one star rating across the board was unfair, especially in light of breakfast and payment policy being your only complaints. Standard practice in Carmel is to pay for your room upon arrival. Many of us are small inns so that on busy weekends we turn potential guests away in order to hold your room for you. Additionally, we do have larger and nicer rooms available, though not at the discounted rate you chose to pay. If you had voiced your displeasure, I am sure we could have done something to make you happier. The only thing you complained about was the payment policy at check in, which did not give us a chance to address your other issues.

This Inn was wonderful and accomodating. Mom/daughter/pooch weekend away. Plenty of room (even an extra side room) with our own entrance. The room was rustic but clean/comfortable and had a wonderful higher end restroom/shower area. Again, this was one of their "dogs allowed" rooms so I didn't expect outtanding in all areas. I would try this again with or without the dog.:-) The other rooms look lovely. Also, you can't beat the locale to dining/shopping and the beach. They also have some on-site parking which most other inns do not.

This was our first visit to the Monte Verde Inn and it will not be our last. We were so pleasantly surprised by the quaint room that had just what we needed. We had a wonderful basket delivered to our door each morning with more than enough to get us started each day. The location was located in just the right area to enable us to walk through all the wonderful shops and eateries, or if we turned left instead of right it took us right to the beach, what could be better. From our room we had a great view of the beach and a quaint little table and chairs outside the door to sit and drink our morning coffee and enjoy our basket of goodness. Can't wait to return!

Best value we have found in Carmel! Friendly, helpful service; clean, cozy rooms (with attention to all the amenities you might need); wonderful breakfast basket delivered in the morning (great selection of goodies!); and perfect location. Love that you are dog-friendly, too. We will definitely be back!
