Once the center of a 400-acre Shenandoah Valley farm, Stoneridge offers a glimpse of antebellum life just minutes from historic Lexington. The original house was built in 1829 with bricks made on the property. Stonerige is surrounded by 32 secluded acres of Virginia countryside - fields, streams and woodlands; and abundant wildflowers, butterflies, and wildlife - deer, turkeys, and songbirds. Sit on the spaciaous front porch and sip a cool drink as you enjoy the sunset over the mountains. Step through the original Adams style double doors and find restored rooms with high ceilings, intricate moldings, elaborate mantels and heart-of-pine floors. Each of the five guest rooms has a queen bed and a private bath, three have jetted whirlpool baths, and four have gas-log fireplaces.

The stately 1909 Federal Crest Inn Bed & Breakfast, flanked by century old magnolia trees, stands majestically at the crest of the Federal Hill Historic District. Southern hospitality and elegance radiates as guests enter the beautiful foyer with grand central staircase, leaded glass window and interior columns. The personal touch by the hosts, Ann and Phil Ripley, makes every visitor feel special. After early morning juice and coffee, beautifully presented full, hot breakfasts are enjoyed in the mahogany-paneled dining room by the romantic fireplace. Most of the elegantly appointed guest rooms also feature gas-log fireplaces as well as private baths. One of the most unique features of the inn is the third floor theater with a full stage which was built for the original owner's children to write a give plays. The Red Lantern Inn is a 100 year old building in downtown Clifton Forge that has been totally renovated into casual overnight accomodation. In addition to the 7 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths, guests will share several common areas - living room with cable TV, fully stocked kitchen with coffee available, laundry facilities, glassed in year round porch and a media room with big screen cable TV and WiFi. Guests like the openness and “homey” atmosphere. New pictures of the shared spaces, bedrooms and bathrooms have been added to the web site. Even though we don’t provide meals, coffee, tea and hot chocolate are always available and can either be brewed or made by the cup. The Inn can be reserved by individual rooms, suite of two rooms or the entire Inn. Special prices are offered for reservations of more than two rooms or for the entire building. We are unable to offer "rental" horses for riding, but our guests are encouraged to bring their own horses to enjoy the facilities and trails.
