Genuine Victorian house. Bed was very uncomfortable (soft and springy) in master suite that we stayed in, but other than that, good. Breakfasts were amazing with lots of fresh fruit and eggs benny done just right!

Exactly what I expected for a bed and breakfast in a 100 year old house. Perfect location, approx 2 blocks from the parliament buildings and downtown. Loved passing by all the horse drawn carriages on the walk. I recommend one of the Honeymoon rooms.

My boyfriend and I recently had a great stay at Marketa's while on our two year Anniversary weekend trip to Victoria. The nightly price was one of the best in the area and the location was central to everything we wanted to do. Because of it's great location, we were able to leave the car at the B&B and walk everywhere. only 7 minutes to downtown! Breakfast in the morning looked and tasted amazing. Marketa really goes the extra mile with your meal, decorating it with fruit and supplying a seemingly endless amount of juice, tea, or coffee. Our room was quaint and i loved the decor. It matched the historical vibe of the house perfectly. I've already started recommending this B&B to friends and family. A great choice!

4.8 out of 5Great location, charming atmosphere, delicious food

My husband and I couldn’t have chosen a better spot for our impromptu visit to Victoria. We have stayed in B&Bs throughout the UK, Ireland, and the U.S., and what Marketa offers rivals the best of what we have experienced, and for a great value. The location is ideal. We came in on the Black Ball Ferry, and Marketa’s was situated just blocks from the dock, on a quiet residential street. We brought our car up from Seattle, but spent much of our four-day visit walking into downtown and to the nearby park, leaving the car behind. The house itself has a grand, but welcoming, ambience, with lovely wood finishes throughout, and Marketa’s original art on every wall. Our room had a beautiful, antique fourposter, which – to be honest - filled me with some dread, because those old beds can sometimes be very uncomfortable, but the mattress was great, and we both actually slept more soundly than we have in ages. The one complaint I have for the entire experience is that there was no designated place in our room to put our suitcase, so we had to leave it rather awkwardly on the floor. We were in one of the hot-tub rooms – a feature that many on a romantic getaway would actually desire – but we would have preferred a little more space over a bath in our bedroom. Any review of Marketa’s would be remiss if it didn’t mention the Breakfast. Let me end by saying that not only did we have the best breakfast at a B&B ever, this had to be one of the best breakfasts in Victoria – and I’m not prone to hyperbole when it comes to food. The selection to choose from was surprisingly large, and everything was made from scratch, with care towards both presentation and taste. Between my husband and I, we sampled everything on the menu over the course of our stay, and were impressed all around. The hollandaise sauce on the benedict was the best I’ve ever tasted. We agreed that the breakfast alone added a value of at least $30 per day which the two of us would have otherwise spent at a restaurant.

Beautiful character rooms with great jacuzzi bathtub. The chocolates and champagne were a wonderful touch. Breakfast was delicious with wonderful homemade muffins to start. Great value
4.8 out of 5Marketa's Bed and Breakfast

My girlfriend and I stayed at Marketa's for two nights. It is in an ideal location- walking distance to the harbor and just a couple blocks from a bus-line to go any where else. Marketa welcomed us politely and warmly. She provided excellent restaurant recommendations for dinner and lunch. Her breakfast was delicious! It was the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. Each breakfast came with fresh baked muffins and a lot of fruit. I enjoyed eating with the other guests staying at the house too. The rooms are beautiful. We stayed in a honeymoon suite which had a jacuzzi-style tub. Though the bubble system in the tub was a bit awkward but we could both fit in the tub and enjoy it. On the last day there my girlfriend had developed a cold or the flu. Checkout time was 11 am but our boat back to Seattle did not depart until 5pm. Marketa let us stay in the room until we needed to head to the boat so that my sickly lady could rest. We would have greatly enjoyed our stay at Marketa's anyhow, but we will always be grateful for that extra hospitality.
5 out of 5Love Marketa's!

Marketa's is our favorite place to stay in Victoria; we come several times a year. A charming old house with comfy rooms beautifully furnished and a fabulous breakfast in the morning with tempting choices--staying here is a romantic treat. The best part of staying here, however, is Marketa herself. She knows about whatever we are looking for in the area and is happy to take the time to help us find it and enjoy our stay. Whether we are looking for a bus across town, a great cup of tea, a restaurant recommendation, or an iron for a wrinkled shirt, Marketa has the answer.
